Cap Cloud (P32) ................................................*1
山頂付近に笠のようにかかった雲。気圧の谷が直近し、上空で湿った強風が吹いていることを示す。富士山や八ケ岳など周囲に山の少ない独立峰に現れやすい。
A bamboo hat-like could located near the peak of a mountain. It points to the fact that a trough of low pressure is near and in the upper sky a strong wind of moist air is blowing. And there are cases where even if there's a clear sky, there may be a big storm a few hours later. They appear frequently at independent peaks like Mount Fuji and the Yatsugatake Mountains where there are few mountains in surrounding them.
Hypothermia (P58)
通常37°C前後に保たれている人間の体温が35庵以下になった状態。放置すれば生理機能が停止し、死に至る。
The situation where the human body temperature which normally stays at around 37°C drops to 35°C or below. If left alone, the person's physiology will stop and it will lead to death.
Mountain Valley (P73)
源流に近い急な水の流れ。
A valley or ravine in a mountain. It has fast stream waters nearby the headwaters.
Mountain Ridge/Spur (P73)
山の凸部の連なりのこと。
A saliently extending part of a mountain.

When swallowed by an avalanche, a gap made by covering the mouth with both hands so one can breathe.
Radiative Cooling (P87) ................................................*3
よく晴れた夜間に地表が熱を放出して冷える現象。
The phenomenon that often happens when the night sky is clear and the heat is released from the ground and becomes cold. Conversely, if there are clouds, the radiated heat reverberates and returns to the ground, preventing temperature drop.

TL Note: This phrase doesn't have an English equivalent. It comes from a snow plow device for clearing train tracks. Translated as "walking path".

Spiked metal fixtures attached to shoes to avoid skipping when climbing hard snow or ice slopes.

Safety insurance with a rope. No-belay (P207) is the situation without that safety insurance.
Prusik Hitch (P172)
細いロープを輪状にして太いロープに結ぶ方法。荷重をかけると締まり、緩めるとスライドするので宙吊りからの脱出などに使われる。
An annular way of tying of a slender rope around a thick rope. Tied to a load and tightened, by being slackened and slid, it can be used as escape from things like hanging in mid-air.
Ridge (P187)
