There are technical terms that appear in "Kokou no Hito". Here, the terms appearing in volume 8 are explained!!
Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range (P6) .....................(1)
The Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range. In the North Alps that continue from the Sea of Japan, a group of mountains extending the East side of Toyama Prefecture's Kurobe River. It contains mountains such as Mount Shirouma, Mount Goryuu, and Mount Kashimayari. Across the river is the Tateyama Mountain Range where mountains (such as Mount Tsurugi) face it. There are many climbers who call it by the abbreviation "Gotate". Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range's North extremity is the Niigata Prefecture's 0-meter above sea level cliff, and it falls into Oyashirazu. Along that mountain ridge is Toyama Prefecture and Niigata Prefecture's prefecture boundary, and it crosses Toyama Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture's boundary as well.
Mount Eboshi (P23) .....................(2)
Located in the central region of the Northern Alps, a mountain possessing an obelisk (an oblong pillar shaped rock) shape at its peak. Elevation 2628m. There are many similar shaped mountains called "Eboshi-dake" and "Eboshi Yama" all over Japan.
TL Note: Yama. -San and -Dake are all suffixes that just mean "Mountain" and have no meaning in definition.
Bunatate Ridge (P46) .....................(3)
A ridge working as a mountain path from the Shinshu side (East side) Takase Dam to Mount Eboshi. With an elevation difference from the mountain entrance of over 1500m, counted as one of Japan's Three Great Steep Climbs.
Mount Noguchigorou (P68) .....................(4)
A mountain on the ridge traversal path between Mount Goryuu and Mount Harinoki.
Mount Harinoki (P71) .....................(5)
Extending into the Toyama Prefecture and the Nagano Prefecture, a mountain on the southern point of the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range. Elevation 2821m. The Harinoki Great Snowy Valley one of Japan's Three Great Snowy Valleys.
Ougisawa Station (P72)
横断 立山黒部アルペンルートの長野県側の起点となる
The starting point station of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route which crosses the Northern Alps. A trolleybus that runs through tunnels, it is linked to the Kurobe dam.
Shinkoshi Ridge (P72)
A ridge going along the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range ridge line starting from Ougisawa going towards Shikoshinokkoshi. It is generally not attached to mountain climbing.
Schrund (P77) .....................(6)
A crevasse formed between a snowy valley and a rock wall. They are sometimes used as a camp.
Cyanosis (P94) .....................(7)
A condition where a decrease of oxygen in the blood and increase of carbon dioxide, causing skin and mucous membranes to be tinged with a blue-violet color.
Mount Funakubo~Mount Fudou (P111) .....................(8)
The mountains on the ridge traversal path between Mount Harinoki and Mount Eboshi. In this segment, the climbing and descending differences in altitudes are big, the slopes are also intense. In winter, important places where you can use stairs or chains in the summer are below the snow, continuing with the nerve wracking rising and descending.

A general climbing path. In winter, because the mountain is covered in snow, routes besides the climbing paths can be climbed, but because climbers are limited to these routes when there is no snow, they are talked about in this way.
Mount Tanigawa (P129) .....................(10)
On the border of the Gunma and Niigata Prefectures, one of Japan's 100 famous mountains. The Peaks are called "Toma no Mimi" (Elevation 1977m) and "Oki no Mimi" (Elevation 1963m). The surrounding mountains in general are called the Tanigawa Mountain Range.
Takizawa Dome (P129)
A dome shaped rock wall on the upper part of Mount Tanigawa Ichi no Kura valley.
Knife Ridge (P129)
A ridge where both sides have a sheer rising slope like the shape of a knife blade.
Beacon (P157) .....................(11)
雪崩 遭遇 危険のある
For when mountain climbing on snowy mountains or mountain skiing, a small handheld mechanical tool that transmits and receives electronic wave signals for when there is danger of encountering an avalanche. When operating it is usually set to "transmit", when buried in an avalanche, the person searching "receives" the beacon and is able to find the source of the signal.
