Shima: Okay, I totally forgot what part I wrote up to last time (heheh). Anyhow, here's the continuation of 'Until I made Ring', Okay, uh... Yeah ok. So I'd decided I was gonna make a totally new sport. Well, it might be too hard, but I had plenty of time (At that time, I had plenty of time anyhow...), so I thought I'd give it my all to think something up...
Seeing as it would be the theme, I wanted to draw something as interesting as I could, and I wanted to set it in a school, so I wanted it to be a sport that could actually be played in real life. I decided I didn't wanna do any sorta near-future sci-fi sorta thing, one that used impossible tools, or requited moves that can't be done in the real world. And I also wanted the sport itself to be as simple and primitive as possible. When you're trying to create something that doesn't exist, it's pretty hard to avoid starting out with something really complicated... Even I would even get sick of thinking about them after a while...
So, I figured I should start thinking about it, but I had really no idea how to tackle it, so for a while (1 week) I spent each day totally spaced out. I thought back to my days as a newbie before I had even debuted (heheh). Ya see, back in those days it took me a month to think up a name (story board) for a single one-shot... (Man, that's long!) Though coming up with a new story and characters was a real slog both then and now... Also, while it was easier for me to have a bird's eye view of a series now compared to then, I had times when I cooled down and hit the breaks on myself, or rather I had restraint. Basically because I drew my works back in those days thinking they were three times as interesting as the readers reading it, so in a way I was an idiot and was able to really draw in high spirits...
