And so, we're back to Wolfsmund for volume 7. The series doesn't end this volume, either. I'd expect it won't go a ton longer, but there's some more stuff they still need to do before they get independence. Welp... I guess I'll keep going, for now anyway, since it's only once a year.

We were just one step away.
This main tower
is insanely hard to attack.
Hei: Looks like an unexpected roadblock.
Narr: Medieval Western European fortresses
had all kind of measures in place so they could be both small in size
and watched over by a small number of people.
The entrance to the main tower is constructed above the 2nd floor.
In wartime, the staircase is removed to make it easier to defend against sieges.

Narr: There is an overhanging scaffolding constructed directly above the entrance.
And through a hole called a machicolation
they attacked enemies approaching the entrance.
Guys: If we had a seige tower in place,
attacking them would be simple.
Hei: If we could do that,
we wouldn't be having a problem.
Narr: The outer wall located nearby the main tower
so the courtyard was only large enough to be called a pathway.
This is to prevent weapons from being brought in to attack the castle.

we could easily spend over a month.
Guy: Well, if that's what it takes to do this without our comrades dying...

Heintz: There's no way we can attack Leopold
without taking down this place first.
If we fell it and capture it, we'll have the advantage.
But if we can't capture it, that's definitely gonna be a thorn in our side.
Whether we capture this place or not
will totally change the direction of the war.
Guy: Will taking down this magistrate's office
really give us that much of an advantage?
Old: Of course.
That's what castles are for.
Guy: ?

Old: Castles and fortresses are hard to attack and easy to defend.
The ones defending it want themselves to have the advantage.
If we take this, we can use it to give our enemies a harder time.
But if it stays in the enemy's hands,
the returning enemy army can then make use of the castle
and give us an even harder time.
Hei: If we try to put it off till later,
it's just going to make things harder for us down the line.
So if there's anything we can do ahead of time, we have to do it
if we want to be sure we have the advantage.

Guy: Wait, Heintz!
Come look at this!
These corpses of our comrades we have lined up outside the castle.
If we keep on attacking,
do you know how many are going to die?!
Heintz: So what?
That's our battle.
We've been prepared for this, haven't we?
Since we first picked a fight with the Habsburgs?

He doesn't give a damn about people's lives!
I'll bet he'll sacrifice every last one of us if that's what it comes down to!
There's no way in hell I'm going to die following the orders of somebody like that!
Let's take down Heintz and halt the attack!
If we end up in a showdown with the Younger Lord Duke, then that'll be it.
Let's just try to preserve what power we have until then.
