Author Flap:
Open that door------!!
Trials and difficulties are all keys that open doors to new worlds.
All that visits those that abandon those keys is a dark world where no light shines.
Only doors stained with rouge (blood) will beckon a dawn to a yet-unseen future.

In the shadows of that blood-stained history,
there existed a "crimson purity" governing the blood and the blade
that few knew of------...

Narr: The owner of that eerie shadow stood at a height of nearly 6 *pied.
Descriptions from the era painted him as a man with a well-proportioned imposing physique-----...
Asterisk: *A unit of measurement from the era: 6 pied = ~190cm.
Page 11:
Narr: That man-----...
was the head of the family that single handedly controlled the executions of Paris for nearly 100 years-----...
Guy: HIH...!!!

Page 14:
Guy: It's... It's all over...
I... I've met the gaze of the grim reaper...
I've been cursed. There's no hope now...
Guy: L-Lord Charles, a thousand pardons for our clumsiness.
We were just preparing for the execution.
C'mon, stand up, now!!!
Char: Henri.
Page 15:
Char: This is not a playground.
You are the man that will become the 5th "Monsieur de Paris".
You must not shut your eyes and cover your ears to the execution platform.
Carefully witness your father's work.
Anne.
Box: Marie-Anne Sanson
Charles' Wife
Originally a farmer's daughter
Henri: !!
Guy: P... Please...
I beg of you...
Page 16:
Guy: H-Help meeeeee!!!
Guy: May the good lord Jesus grant you mercy and forgiveness.
Please have courage.
Page 17:
Somebody: Let them ring to the heavens! The dying screams
of those that have disobeyed the law----!!!!
Guys: Here it comes!!
Anne: Do not avert your eyes, Henri!!!
Page 18-19:
[I love this shot]
Page 20:
[That guy's having a bad time.]
Page 21:
Narr: The breaking wheel.
It is said to originate from a method of execution of running over the victim with a wagon.
After the victim is strapped to the wheel, his limbs and chest are crushed with an iron pole.
After that, they are left bound to the wheel
as the victim waits for a prolonged period in excruciating pain until they die.
Guys: The 4th's executions are as cruel as ever, ain't they?!!!
There's always a show with him! Nobody ever dies with one shot!
Page 22:
Guys: Yeah. He sure has changed from back when he did those quiet, solemn executions.
I love 'em! It was worth it comin' out here at the crack 'a dawn!
Damn, that's the 7th person today.
And these are all commoners...
Guys: Well, whadda ya expect? All the aristocrats and priests are exempt from the taxes.
And they keep uppin' the taxes on us in the third estate.
I can't say I don't get why somebody'd resort ta theivery once they'd gone broke.
But one thing I'll say for sure... I don't wanna have to go
onto Charles-Henri Sanson's execution platform...
Page 23:
Char: Murder,
thievery,
swindling,
adultery,
arson----...
Cry, scream, writhe in agony.
Let those screams of atonement ring to the heavens!!!
The Sansons
are the stone-cold guard dogs of the law-----...
Page 24-25:

let me hear the voices of your despair--------------!!!
Page 26-27:

Page 28:
Guy: Uh....
Uuh...
Guys: Place him with his head down.
We cannot have him dying easily through blood loss.
Page 29:
Ann: Henri...?!!
Get a hold of yourself, Henri!!!
Box: Henri Sanson
Charles' eldest son
Later, the 5th
Monsieur de Paris
Charles: How disappointing...
Guy: The breaking wheel execution is oveeeeer!
We will now move on to executions by beheading!
Bring Count De Luxe to the platform post-haste!!!
My lord...
Char: What...? His majesty the king has...
Page 30:
Guy: Yes, sir. Count De Luxe was planned to be executed by beheading for the crime of murder,
but due to the petition by his friend Madame Du Barry, he earned the king's sympathies.
Charles: ...I see.
No matter the reason, to fire a gun at an unarmed commoner
and furthermore, to stick a sword in his chest and leave him to die in the snow in front of the Versailles gate...
Even if he is an aristocrat, I cannot imagine he is innocent.
I suppose aristocrats are allies to aristocrats.
Madame Du Barry,
even you, a woman that touched skin many times with this abominable executioner, have changed-------
Page 31:
Char: ......But if his majesty the king says a white rose is red,
then it is red.
The Sanson Family are executioners working directly under the king.
If his majesty says a person is innocent,
then I can only return my sword to its sheathe-------
No, perhaps I have changed as well------...
Page 32:
Guy: That concludes today's executions!
Guys: WHat?! No aristocrat?!
I was lookin' forward to it!
Page 33:
Guys: A toast! A toast!
Today is a day to celebrate for I have won my innocence! Everyone raise your classes!!!!
Guys: It's wine... Wine...
You can bet that's tip-shelf stuff...
Lux: Slurp till you're drunk, maggots!
That's liquor celebrating my, Lord De Luxe's, triumphant return to Versailles!
Box: Count De Luxe
Aristocrat of the Royal Court. The murderer of the knight, Alain de Saint-Jerome.

Barry: Your majesty, thank you so much for inviting to dinner the other day my friend De Luxe, the one you granted amnesty to.
Luxe said he would like to donate something to show his appreciation.
Louis: Si bon! For these breasts, how could I object?!
I'll make all of your wishes come true, Madame Du Barry!
Barry: Come now, your majesty, that man is just as reliable.
Box: The King of France
Louis XV
The 4th generation Monarch of the House of Bourbon
Was indifferent to government and took many lovers
known as "the well-beloved"
Barry: ....Honestly, I'm not too fond of De Luxe,
but if he owes me a favor, I will have supporters even after his majesty passes away......
Box: Louis XV's Chief Mistress
Madame Du Barry
Her real name is Marie-Jeanne Bécu
After being a nun, seamstress, and then a prostitute,
she rose to the position of chief mistress.
Once had relations with Charles
Page 38:
Barrry: De Luxe was trying to subdue a man named Alain
who was planning to overthrow the country, they got into a quarrel, and in the heat of the moment he fired his gun...
It was all for you, your majesty... Surely such a man should be spared a beheading, yes?
King: Hm. The plantation that was the source of his income was completely frozen.
He eradicated a dangerous element from my France.
One should look to the precedent of the Jacquerie rebellion. Dangerous buds should be nipped without exception.
Asterisk: *The Jacquerie Rebellion was a peasant rebellion that occurred in France in 1358.
Louis: De Luxe is a hero that saved France.
Let us give him a marquisate and an annuity of 50,000 livres!!!
Luxe: What a grand result!
It really is only money and connections that one needs to succeed in Versailles!
Page 39:
Luxe: The cause of the incident of the fire in that maggot's school
was settled as being a started simply by carelessness.
And the dead were not spoken of at all----
This is heavenly punishment for that filthy café au lait that dared try to stand on even footing with us aristocrats.
If you want something to blame, blame the status you were born with!!!
Asterisk: *A discriminatory term for someone born of parents with different races.
Page 40:
Guys: Lord Luxe.
Women: Oh, Lord de Luxe...!!!
Luxe: And now, I am a hero!
Because I foiled the plans of a man scheming to overthrow the nation!!!
Page 41:
Marie: Just wait, Alain...
Marie will make your dream come true...
Alain: Soon there will come a world
where people are not categorized by their birth, gender, occupation, or color of their skin!!!
Page 42-43:
Marie: The aristocrats
will be slaughtered------!!!!
Page 44:
Lux: Come now,
don't be jealous.
After my meal with his majesty.
Once I've filled my stomach, I will keep company with each of you in order.
!!
That white monkey...
Page 45:
Luxe: So beautiful-----...
Page 46:
Marie: Monsieur...
Would you take pity on me...?
Blanka: KIKIIIIIIH
