Whew. Ok. The first chapter of any volume of Innocent is always a monster, but I got it done. I'm hoping to get through this volume a bit faster than the last one which I had tons of delays with. Next volume is only set to come out "Fall 2016" so probably October/November.

Author Flap:
Everyone possesses talent.
And excuses----
Humans tend to avoid confronting themselves and push things that don't go well onto others and their circumstances.
I want to be a person that's bad at making excuses.

Top: Europe Before the French Revolution
The answer to the question 'What family were you born into?' determine's a person's life.
In human history, 'birth=heritage' has ruled society.
Before the revolution, France is an 'absolute monarchy'.
Kings were considered representatives of God ruling by divine right wielded absolute power over the administrative, legislative, and judiciary aspects of government.
People were split into the levels, the 1st estate, the clergy, the 2nd estate, aristocrats, the 3rd estate, common people. The 2% of the aristocrats and clergy ruled the 98% that were commoners.
Through tax collection and methods that represented legal amnesty, aristocrats enjoyed wealth and privilege while the common people lost everything they had including their lives to support the aristocrats.
While the aristocrats were in constant struggles for power under the king, the common people starved----
At the current point in time, France is in a confrontation with England.
France once allied with Prussia in a war against Austria and England, but Prussia later betrayed them and made an alliance with England which led to France allying with its sword enemy for 200 years, Austria.
As part of their diplomatic strategy, the 111th daughter of the Austrian queen, Marie Antoinette, married into the French Royal Family at age 14.
For the sake of control of the country, the government at the time had sole rule to the right to revenge against lawbreakers, 'punishment'.
And so the 'executions' which took the lives of the people became the symbol of the government's ultimate power.
The ones that carried out that power was the executioners.
While the family of executioners in Paris for generations, the Sansons, were 'guars of justice', they were a presence scorned as 'grim reapers' for their killing of the people's brethren...
Even while they contributed to society as doctors, they were reviled by society from the moment they were born.
In this time of revolution where ideals are sought and a great amount of blood is spilled, who will survive?! Who is the real leader?!
Who will be the one to find the way the new world should be-------?!
Among the revolution's see of flames, what is reflected in the eyes of the Sanson Siblings that stand on the execution platforms that the people's lives flow into------?!!

Top: (The story leading to the present)
Text: Charles-Henri was born into the position of Paris's executioner, "Monsieur de Paris", and the 4th head of the Sanson family like those before him for generations. As a result of that 'birth', his life followed a cruel fate. Since he was a child, Charles' dream has been to 'abolish executions'. Yet the family's karmic fate continuously blocks his way. While Charles is tormented by his occupation of killing people, he has grown to be a benevolent executioner.
The Sanson Family second daughter, Marie-Josephe, possesses natural talent as an executioner. Since she was very little, she longed to become an executioner and finally won the right to be the executioner of Versailles Palace, the "Prevote de l'Hotel'.
One night, after the funeral of who had been known as the "Iron Law" of the Sanson family, the wife of the 2nd generation head of the household, Lady Marthe, Marie came to visit Charles. Picking up the "Memoirs of the First Sanson", Charles recalled his family's origins. The First Sanson had been a soldier, but he fell in love with an executioner's daughter which began everything that led to his descendants suffering due to this occupation. The "original sin"----. Overcoming this family curse which was started because of 'love', Charles embraces his lofty ideals while Marie vows to overcome this karma----.
And France has reached a major turning point in its history. After a 60-year long reign, Louis XV has perished. The ones to inherit the country is the young crowned prince, Louis Auguste. and crowned princess Marie Antoinette. They, as well, are people whose fate is controlled by their 'birth'. With the young king standing at the pinnacle of power and the power map of Versailles being redrawn, history has plunges into some huge waves...!!

Someone: Quickly, get her to a different room!!!
Narr: One year earlier, May 10th 1774, the flame of Louis XV's life was snuffed out by smallpox-------... And so the 15th's reign filled with war and madness ended.
And on this day, the coronation ceremony arrived. And the people placed high hopes on the purity of this new king and queen----...
