In 1778, when the third head of the Sanson Family, Jean-Baptiste, passed away, Charles' position as the fourth head of the household and Marie-Josephe's position as executioner of Versailles, Prevote de l'Hotel, were settled.
A few years later, Versailles was under siege by a group of chivalrous thieves that call themselves the Enragés. After they commit numerous robberies on aristocrats, Marie Josephe is tasked with subjugating them as the local police. In an attempt to round them up, Marie gets caught in combat with the head of the Enragés. That man, Jaques, turned out to be the son Damines, the former would-be assassin of the king which was executed by Écartèlement...!! Now, he has inherited the will of his father, and lives appealing for equality and justice. The the genes of revolution breathed life into by the era of executions created by Charles and Marie have now been reborn as blades of fate...!!!
Meanwhile, dark clouds haves started to gather over the two successors of the kingdom, King Louis XVI and Queen Antoinette. First, there's Comtesse de la Motte. An evil woman of bottomless greed meets Cardinal Rohan, and sinks her fangs of ambition into him. Second, after dozens of years of government mismanagement resulting in worsening public finance, even the salaries for the executioners cannot be paid.
In order to petition for his salary to be paid, Charles goes to the Palace of Versailles to meet personally with the king. But because it was his first requested free time to himself in quite a while, security was sparse. Leader of the Enragés, Jacques, seized this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to carry out his goal of assassinating the king...!! Meanwhile, Charles endures the anguish of the king... And in the next room, Marie stands in the way of the assassin bearing the anger of the poor, Jacques...!!!
