nor was it because of the increase of wild Japanese monkeys which were a major pest towards pears,
it was because their cultivation techniques leaked to other people in the industry.
They came in the night.
It was an early morning after summer had ended--- they went to check the trees they'd been looking after since the previous winter,
and not a single pear was left remaining on the trees.
Even the trees themselves where cut down.
The usurpers were with some local moneylenders.

I'll say this, you're lucky you didn't 'graft' the Rokakaka 'branch' to a yew branch.
These things are deadly poison. They'll do extreme damage to your insides.
Especially if you put the 'seeds' in your mouth.
It's a good thing the Rokakaka branch isn't grafted to one of these.
