Jap -> Chi suggests your translation is fairly accurate :) ふんでいます by itself yields "踏着", so it's something like a stepping stone. Maybe it implies temporary resting place (on a journey, say)? OTL

Thanks for the suggestion! Hmm, that's interesting. When I search Google for example usage, a lot of sentences were used as 韻をふんでいます, which means something like "(XX) rhymes with (YY)".
Hmm, does it means the owl now is controlled by Mukurou? Is he still in Vongola side or he is under control of Glo. I really cannot wait for the chapter 164.
I think that is the correct translation. Since that that here とふんでいます means estimated/suspected so the exact translation maybe
Hibari estimated/suspected that this man has something to do with Mukuro.
Thanks for the help! I considered that translation too, but the text emphasized the 何か so it threw me off for a bit. But, now, I think it makes sense. Do you know what's the kanji involved? Is ふん = 分?
I think it is not ふん = 分, but ふん = fumu, fumimasu (sorry, i don't have kanji on my pc) which literally means step on, but it also means go through or rate on something, not physically but in action, after doing some thinking.
for example
kanojo wa gunshu no shinsou wo 200 nin to funda; which means
she estimated the size of the crowd to be 200
I hope you can understand this. Sorry if the explanation is complicated or confusing. I am just a bad language teacher, and my english is not that good. The important thing is, we must always see the context/meaning of the full sentence, so I think you translation earlier is good. Please ask again if there is anything that is confusing, I would love to share my opinion.
Ah! You mean 踏む. Thank you so much! It makes perfect sense, and with the kanji, I can look it up in a dictionary which explains the rest. It also has the example of 韻を踏む that I saw. :D Thank you for taking the time to explain. I really appreciate it!
