Notes:

Page 40: Noroi (呪い) and Tatari (祟り)
Both technically mean "curse", but the nuances between them don't translate well into English. As for the difference in their meanings, even native Japanese speakers seem to have trouble explaining. From what I gather, tatari tends to indicate that the speaker was cursed as a result of having done something - basically, bringing it on themself. Evidently, it often connotes nature-based or spiritual forces at work. Noroi tends to indicate that someone else cursed the speaker and often connotes a more human involvement. With the dialogue in question, Ogami first says "noroi" - meaning his curse came from an outside source, but then changes to "tatari" - meaning he bears the responsibility for having become cursed.
