Volume 4, the latest from Jump Comics, is on sale and a huge hit!!
Haikyuu!!

(left) Is Karasuno going to win the 1st set?!

Tanaka: SOOOO

Tanaka: RYAAA!!!

Tanaka: YESSSS!!!

Suga: Tanaka,
Suga: nice one!!!
(left of boys) HELL YEAAAH!

[p002]

Scoreboard, right side: Datekou
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno
(bottom) ※ Current rotation
Box, top half:
Kamasaki (Sakunami) | Obara | Moniwa
Sasaya | Futakuchi | Aone
Box, center: Net
Box, bottom half:
Hinata | Tanaka | Kageyama
Sawamura | Azumane | Tsukishima (Nishinoya)

Player: Tsukishima, one more point! Nice serve!

Shimada: ...at this rate, if they end up back in a "give and take" situation,
...このまま順当に〃獲って獲られて〃を繰り返せば
Shimada: then Karasuno will probably take the 1st set...
Daichi: #7's heading this way!

Shimada: but as for an overall victory...
でも突き放すには

Shou: Hurg!

Shimada: That's it!
Taki: Nice one touch!!

Ukai: COUNTERRRR!!!

[p003]

Noya: Free ball!

(Kuchi): A C-Quick*...!

(below panel) ※ A quick strike hit from about 50cm - 1m to the right of the setter's position

Kuchi: Don't underestimate us!
sfx bubble: Touch

Player: Nice one, Hinata!
Takeda: Wow... that was the first time 2 blockers went after Hinata-kun and Kageyama-kun's fast quick strike...
Player: Kageyama, nice toss!
Ukai: Yeah...

Ukai: It's amazing...

Scoreboard, right side: Datekou
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno
Box:
Karasuno High School 1st set
Set point

[p004]

Michi: Incredible...
Michi: It's our side's set point, and against Datekou, no less...!

Moniwa: Sasaya!
Moniwa: Nice course!

Shimada: Uoooh... nice receive!
Player: Toss it over here!
Taki: Karasuno's really killing it!
烏野ノってんな!

[p005]

Suga: AAAAAL
Suga: RIIIGHT!
(white sfx) Tweet tweeet!
Box: End of the 1st set
Box:
25 - 19
(Karasuno) (Datekou)

Crowd: Uhyaa! Karasuno actually won the set!

Kuchi: Dammit...!

[p006]

Mizo: Those tricky plays of Karasuno's are really frightening...
Mizo: At this rate, they'll probably take the 2nd set by storm...
Mizo: Dammit, Kunimi! Move your feet! You're supposed to be warming up!
Irihata: Hmm...
Irihata: Using the same tactics as the 1st set would probably be pushing it~

(left of Moniwa) You almost had it, Aone!!
Irihata: After all, Datekou... and especially that giant #7-kun,
Irihata: have already gotten used to the surprise of that "surprise quick strike"~

sfx bubble: Squeak
sfx bubble: Squeak
Box: Court change
Takeda: That huge #7-kun and, at the end there, #6-kun
Takeda: both managed to touch that Quick Strike. I'm amazed...
sfx bubble: Squeak
sfx bubble: Squeak
Ukai: Yeah, it's impressive.

(Ukai): The way we are now, the "oddball quick strike" is our axis of attack...
(Ukai): We absolutely can't let them stop us from using it, like what happened in the game with Nekoma...

Ukai: --And so,

Ukai: For the 2nd set,
(box)
Tanaka | Kageyama | Tsukishima
Hinata | Sawamura | Azumane
Ukai: we'll start by rotating over two places.

[p007]

Ukai: In the 1st set, the rotation was one where Hinata and that "eyebrowless" #7 were matched up a lot.

(box, top half)
Kamasaki | Obara | Moniwa
Sasaya | Futakuchi | Aone
(box, center) Same starting position
(box, bottom half)
Hinata | Tanaka | Kageyama
Sawamura | Azumane | Tsukishima
(below box) ※ Rotation at the start of the 1st set (rotates clockwise)

(box, top half)
Kamasaki | Obara | Moniwa
Sasaya | Futakuchi | Aone
(box, bottom half)
Azumane | Sawamura | Hinata
Tsukishima | Kageyama | Tanaka
Ukai: That's why we're going to start with it shifted over 2 spots.
(below box) ※ Rotation at the start of the 2nd set

Takeda: Oooh... I get it...!
Takeda: If we do that, then #7 won't mark Hinata-kun as precisely as he did in the 1st set!
(around Hinata) A little disappointed
Ukai: Well, this is all based on the assumption that they're keeping the same rotation they used before.

Ukai: Still, there's no guarantee it'll be completely successful.
Ukai: It's a form of decentralization, to an extent.
Ukai: Also, when he's not able to mark Hinata...

Ukai: it's a given that he'll mark someone else instead.

[p008]

Asahi: ...We can't just rely on Hinata.
Asahi: With him putting in all this work, we'll do our part, too.
日向が活きててこそ俺達も活きる
Asahi: I'm going to try and act more like an "ace".

Daichi/Suga: Oooh...!
(above Tanaka/Noya) Asahi-san, you're seriously cool!!
Daichi/Suga: You've really grown up, Asahi...!
Asahi: What are you, my parents?

Shou: Me too...!!
Shou: Erm.

Shou: I...!!
Shou: I can't pull off a back attack like you, so
Shou: while I'm in front, I'll score lots of points!
Shou: And I'll be the "strongest decoy"!!

Asahi: Yup, I'll be counting on you.
Asahi: And leave the rest to me!

(above Shou) Right!!
Ukai: Ah!
Ukai: One more thing.

Ukai: Among Datekou's blockers, #7 is especially incredible, but the rest of the team is just as dangerous.
Ukai: Don't forget that.
Players: Osu!!

[p009]

(white sfx) Tweet!
Michi: The 2nd set is starting...!

Asahi: You really have it rough, Tsukishima.
Asahi: You'll have to face off with #7 even more than you did in the 1st set.
(above Tanaka) Alriiight!!

Tsuki: Not at all. Nobody expects me to compete earnestly against #7 and win.

Tsuki: Flashily putting up a fight is Hinata's job.
Tsuki: While he's in the rear guard, my job is to "more or less endure" as best I can. It's the same as always, isn't it?
その日向が後衛に回ってる間を極力〃無難に凌ぐ〃のが僕の役目 いつもの事じゃないですか
Tsuki: That aside, however you look at it,

Tsuki: the other side's blockers haved "locked on" to you, Azumane-san.

Player: Nice serve, Tanaka!
Box: Start of the 2nd set

[p010]

Coach: Karasuno's shifted their rotation...
Coach: Must be to avoid having their #10 matched up with Aone...

Oiwake: Whatever the matchups,
Oiwake: he will simply stop whatever spiker is before his eyes.

Kuchi: We're usually cheeky problem children, so
Kuchi: we should be good kouhai in matches, at least.

sfx bubble: Squeak squeak
sfx bubble: Squeak
Player: Kageyama!
Tobio: Alright!

sfx bubble: Float

[p011]

sfx bubble: Touch
sfx bubble: Squeak

(Asahi): Even though he'd been taken in by Hinata's decoy, he instantly moved left...!

Player: Nice one, Asahi-san!
Scoreboard, right side: Karasuno
Scoreboard, left side: Datekou

Box: Hinata's serve
Box: Nishinoya OUT
Box: Tsukishima IN
Player: One more!

Boy: Apparently the Karasuno vs. Datekou match is amazing.
Boy: Ehh? They're still playing?

[p012]

Player: It's back in the air! Nice job, Tanaka!

Player: Kageyama, cover it!
Tobio: Right.
Asahi: I'm open!
Moniwa: #3's heading this way!

(above Shimada) GAHH!!
(left of Shimada) They knocked it right down!!
Taki: Well, it's because they were all honed in on that long-haired niichan...

Taki: Plus, that shorty would be about the only one who could pull off a Quick from a chaotic receive like that...
(below Shou) Don't worry about it! One more time!!

(above Obara) Nice one, Aone!!
Moniwa: Yessss! We're gonna stop the next one, too!!

Player: It's #7!
Player: Go for it!

[p013]

Scoreboard, right side: Karasuno
Scoreboard, left side: Datekou

Box: Hinata IN
Box: Tsukishima's serve
Box: Nishinoya OUT
Shou: Alriiight!

Crowd: Ooh, Karasuno's #10 is back in the vanguard!

Player: Nice save! Kageyama, cover it!
Shou: Send it over!

[p014]

Kama: It's ridiculously fast, even when seeing it up close!
(small text) What a monster.
Player: Hinata, Kageyama, nice one!
(left of Shou) Yessss!!

Shimada: Man, a Quick that can be used from anywhere is really an extraordinary weapon...
Crowd: Wow...

Crowd: Even though he's a middle blocker, #10 really feels like an "ace"...
Crowd: Yeah, even though he's so short~

[p015]

Tobio: We're gonna keep pushing forward!!
Shou: Right!!

(white sfx) Tweeet

Scoreboard, right side: Karasuno
Scoreboard, left side: Datekou
Boy: Since Karasuno's #10 moved into the vanguard, it's like...
Boy: the whole team's gotten quicker...

Mizo: With Karasuno's shift in rotation,
Mizo: the "feeling of surprise" that comes with the surprising quick strike is still going strong.
(above Iwai) I can't hear you!!
Irihata: As time passes, that will fade, too.
Irihata: If Datekou takes this set and they continue into a 3rd one to break the deadlock,

Irihata: Karasuno will lose their advantage in a heartbeat.
Irihata: While Karasuno's #10 is in the rear guard, the problem will likely be how to combat Datekou's #7.

Irihata: How well they can fight the "iron wall" without #10 as a decoy
Irihata: will probably be the match's decisive factor...
Asahi (half-hidden): One more!

[p016]

Box: Hinata's serve
Box: Nishinoya OUT
Box: Tsukishima IN

sfx bubble: Squeak
sfx bubble: Squeak
sfx bubble: Squeak

Crowd: I've heard that Karasuno's #10 has an amazing quick strike.
Crowd: Which one's that?
Crowd: Oh, he's in the rear guard right now.

Scoreboard, right side: Karasuno
Player: Nice one, Futakuchi!!
Scoreboard, left side: Datekou
Player: We'll stop it with one hit!
一本で切るぞ!

Asahi: Tsukishima... you said that while Hinata is in the rear guard,
Asahi: your job is to basically endure the best you can, but

Asahi: against Datekou, being able to do that is amazing in and of itself.

Asahi: Right now, Hinata and Kageyama are certainly our axis of attack, but
Asahi: the times inbetween, when we can't use that attack, are just as important.

Asahi: Even if we can't score ourselves, it's just like how you can't hit spikes without receives.

Asahi: Right now, us bridging the gap until that attack is usable
Asahi: will connect us to victory.

[p017]

Saku: Futakuchi-san, nice serve!

Tanaka: Uooh!
Tanaka: Sorry, Kageyama! Cover it!
Tobio: Alright.

(Asahi): When we're in a tight spot, the ball revolves around the "ace".

Asahi: I'm open!!

Tobio: Azumane-san!
Player: The left side's coming this way!

(Asahi): Even if this opponent is an "iron wall",

(Asahi): I'll smash it!!!

[p018/019]

Aone: YEAAAH!!

(Ukai): That "gap" just now...!
(Ukai): Did they create it just to force him to hit the ball there...?!

Crowd: Aone!
Crowd: Aone!
Boy: Datekou's blocks really are incredible...

???: Still 2 more rotations until Karasuno's #10 moves back into the vanguard, huh...
(left of Shou) Asahi-san, one more time!!

(Irihata): #7's blocks are truly the best of the "iron wall"...
(white sfx) Glance
(Irihata): They need to get #7 rotated into the rear guard quickly, or things will get ugly.

(Irihata): Will Karasuno's ace

(right) There's still a fire in his eyes...!! Next issue, we have center color!!!
(Irihata): be able to endure?

------

Notes:

[page 12]
They knocked it right down - The word Shimada uses is ドシャット (doshatto), which is a portmanteau combining the "do" of どまんなか (domannaka, meaning "smack dab in the middle") and the "shut" of shutout. When used in relation to volleyball, it means that an incredibly strong spike hits right up against an equally incredible block, resulting in it being knocked down and falling straight to the floor on the spiker's side.
