Tobio: Next time,

Chapter 50: The Setter Showdown | Furudate Haruichi

(Kin's card, bottom, half-hidden) Aobajousai

Shou: But you're serving next, aren't you?
Shou: You'll be in the rear guard.
Shou: You said "the next one's gonna be the same", but a dump shot from the rear guard would be a foul.

Tobio: Shut up!
(right of Shou) Pfft
Tobio: I meant next time I rotate back into the vanguard, alright!

Scoreboard, right side: Aobajousai
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno
Player: Kageyama, give'em a good one!
Box, top half:
Matsukawa (Watari) | Hanamaki | Kunimi
Oikawa | Iwaizumi | Kindaichi
Box, center: Net
Box, bottom half:
Sawamura | Hinata | Tanaka
Azumane | Tsukishima (Nishinoya) | Kageyama

(Tobio): Crap!

Hana: It's out.

Box: Out

Takeda: Oh dear... I guess he put too much force into it?
Ukai: It's alright! Go ahead and give it all you've got!

Iwai: That was a real impressive missile.*
Oikawa: What an incredible homerun~!
(right of Oikawa) Pfft

(Tobio): Dammit.
Tobio: Sorry.
(white sfx) Don't worry about it!

(below panel) ※ A spike or serve delivered with such force that you can tell it will go out of bounds the instant it's hit.

???: --Well, then.
Scoreboard, right side: Aobajousai
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno

Oikawa: I suppose I'll just have to show you how it's done.

(Daichi): Here it comes.

(Daichi): Oikawa's serve...!

(Suga): Who will he target?!

(Suga): Huh? Nishinoya?!

(Noya): An amazingly fast
(Noya): drive serve.
(Noya): But it's coming at me head-on...

(Noya): No.

(Noya): It has spin.

Crowd: Ooooh!
Crowd: He kept Oikawa's serve in play!
Crowd: Man, Karasuno's libero is amazing!

(above girls) He got it...
Girls: Aww...

Oikawa: Whoopsie. He really is something.
Player: Nishinoya, nice receive!
Iwai: How was that "showing how it's done"! He got it with a normal receive, didn't he!!
Oikawa: Ehehe~

Shou: Bring it on!
Player: It's #10!

(Tobio, white sfx) Glance

Tobio: Alright.
Shou: YESSSS!!

(Tobio): Even if they know about this quick strike,
(Tobio): it won't be so easy for them to stop it if they can't get to Hinata.

(Tobio): This has been a battle of countermeasures from the very beginning...!!

Shimada: Did you see that?
Shimada: He looked toward
Shimada: the right side just now.
(white sfx) Grin smirk
Taki: Yup.

Taki: Come to think of it, Nekoma's setter
Taki: was really good at looking elsewhere to throw his opponents off.

Shimada: His minutely precise toss by itself is incredible,
Shimada: but to do that after taking his eyes off the ball for a moment...

Shimada: That's some amazing skill...
Tobio: One more!

Oikawa: Geez, such a superhuman toss should be illegal!

Takeda: Oikawa-kun's serve is truly frightening...
Ukai: Successfully keeping such tight control on the power of his initial serve...
Ukai: "Showing how it's done" is about all you can call it.
Takeda: Ah, but I guess he ended up hitting it to Nishinoya-kun by mistake?

Ukai: Nope.

Ukai: I think he was aiming for Nishinoya.

Ukai: If "Nishinoya couldn't keep it in play",
(left of Noya) C'mon, one more!!
Ukai: that alone would be a real blow to the mindset of his teammates.
Ukai: That was probably the intent.

Ukai: ...'cept our libero's got a good head on his shoulders!
(left of Ukai) Wahaha!!

(Ukai): What a save... you really did a great job keeping it in play, Nishinoya...

(Ukai): ...but
(Takeda): ...basically, that means...

(Takeda): Oikawa-kun won't be targeting Nishinoya-kun any longer...

Kin: Sorry, I just keep getting fooled...
Oikawa: Karasuno managed to lead Datekou around by the nose, after all~

Oikawa: Well, give me just a little longer
Oikawa: and I'll have a clue on how to catch that quick strike.

Oikawa: It probably won't be long now.

Oikawa: ...that aside, Kindaichi...
sfx bubble: Pull

Oikawa: You must be frustrated, having your "place as Kageyama's partner" stolen away by that shorty.
Kin (half-hidden): ? No, not really...
Oikawa: It's fine.

Oikawa: I mean, back in junior high, Tobio thought of you as a "particularly useless servant", after all.
Oikawa: Even if this Oikawa-san here can't use the likes of that superhuman quick strike,
Oikawa: we'll prove to him that "Kindaichi is just as amazing."

Oikawa: Don't worry about it. Just jump.

(white sfx) Tweeet
Kin: R-
Kin: Right!

Player: Nice serve, Tanaka!
Player: Nice~

Player: Watari!
Watari: Got it.
Player: Nice receive!

(Shou): It's an A-Quick...!

(Shou): Huh?!

Crowd: Way to go, Yuutaro!
Crowd: Push'em back, Yuutaro!
Crowd: One more point!

Daichi: ...what was that...
Daichi: Maybe I just imagined it.

Daichi: I've got a feeling that
Daichi: #12 over there is jumping higher than he did during the practice match.

Asahi: Can you really improve your jumping power in such a short span of time?
Daichi: ...that's why I said it might be my imagination.

Oikawa: Iwa-chan, nice serve~
Scoreboard, right side: Aobajousai
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno
Player: Nice~

sfx bubble: Bam
Player: In front!

Daichi: Sorry, cover it!
Player: Right!

Shou: Send it over!

sfx bubble: Float

Asahi: Alriiight!!!

Suga: Asahi,
Boys: Asahi-san,
Suga/Boys: Nice one!

Scoreboard, right side: Aobajousai
Scoreboard, left side: Karasuno

Oikawa: Got it.

(Tobio sfx) Shudder

Oikawa: Sensei!
Oikawa: Sensei!

(white sfx) Tweeet
1st Time Out

Crowd: Ehh? Seijou's already using a time out? Isn't it kinda early?
Crowd: It's not like the flow of the game's in Karasuno's favor or anything, either.

Oikawa: The voices on the videotape were a bit hard to make out, so I wasn't entirely certain, but
Oikawa: there's likely no mistaking it.

Oikawa: The way to tell when Tobio and shorty-chan
Oikawa: are going to use their superhuman quick versus a normal one.

(left) Their "trump card" has already been exposed!!

Oikawa: "Bring"
Oikawa: and
Oikawa: "send"
Oikawa: are the key.

(left) Oikawa bares his fangs...!!

[page 4]
Missile - Another case of me having to hunt around for an English equivalent to a Japanese volleyball term. In Japanese, they use the verb 吹かす (fukasu), but at least their meanings are the same this time around.

[page 19]
Bring and send - This becomes a bit difficult in the English version. The two words Oikawa mentions are different conjugations of the same verb (来る kuru, meaning "to come" at its most basic). In previous chapters, I've generally been translating the two as "send it over" (for くれ kure) and "bring it on" (for 来い koi), so hopefully that's consistent with Oikawa's revelation.
