Roujie: ―――やっぱり。。。！！　--- so it worked…!

sensei: ぬっ！　そそやつは。。。!？ nu~! who is that guy…!?

Roujie: ―――たぶん地縛霊だと思います。。おそらく先生の名を使ってーーー
I think it’s probably a Jibakurei.. it took your name and---

sensei: ぬうう。。。！　こやつが。。。！？ Nuu..! This guy did..!?

sensei: というかホントに霊か。コイツ。。。 which means there’s really a ghost.. this guy…?

ghost: うううう。。。　か　堪忍。。。　uuuuuu… forgive me….

Roujie: だいぶ今までの霊とはちがいますがたぶん he’s pretty different than most of the spirits we’ve met up until now though…

Reasonable ghosts generally are the most crazy----

Roujie (own thoughts): ―――よくしゃべるのは危険な霊―――でも小説を書ける程の記憶を留められたのならもしかするとーーー
well-spoken ghosts are dangerous --- but if still has enough memories to be able to write a novel… then maybe---

ghost: 申し遅れた　私の名は平田残雪　ah, of course.. my name is Hirata Zansetsu
ghost: 明治生まれるの作家だが何のことはないーー　日かな一日仲間と喋っては
I was an author born in the Meiji Era, but that’s not the point – one day, while talking to my friend

man’s thoughts: 遊んでばかりいる三文作家だった。。。I was a penniless author who did nothing but play

more: 大した作品も書かぬ内に私は　当時の不冶の病「結核」に冒され
also, without writing any well-known pieces, at the same time I was afflicted with the unrelenting disease “Tuberculosis”

man: 延命に効能ありとされた温泉を求め　　ここなながせへ湯治に訪れていた
so that I could extend my longevity, I sought out a hot springs, and came to visit Nanagase for treatment

Sensei: フム。　コイツは私小説だったのか　Fmm.. so this is an autobiography?

ghost: ぐううう　guuu
ghost: 思い半ばにして力尽きた私はーーー　I’ve used up half of my strength---

ghost: このままでは死にきれぬとーーー　死後この旅館に憑き
At this rate, I won’t finish it before I’m gone – in the afterlife, I’m attached to this Inn

ghost: 私の代わりに「夜の蝶」を発表するのに相応しい文士を捜した
that’s why instead of me, I looked for an appropriate writer to publish “The Butterfly of Night”

ghost: 迷う内に時代は移り　Time continued to pass as I hesitated

ghost: 私は旅館の者に怪しまれぬ様夜中に身を模し書き続けた。。。　
So that the Inn employees wouldn’t notice me, I continued writing under his persona in the middle of the night

ghost: この行為が四谷殿にどんなに失礼な事か計り知れぬ　　だがそこをおして作品を
I’m not sure I can accurately measure how rude this was to you Yontani-dono, but
残したかったのだ
I had to push forward to finish the rest of the work

ghost: 頼む続きをあと少しなんだ。　Please… there’s only a little bit left to go

Roujie: (mental) ―――そうか残雪さんの記憶はきっとこの思いの強さで。。。。！

Roujie: “思い“ってすごいな。。　霊になってもあんなに自分を保てるんて
Memories… that’s amazing… even though he became a ghost he still retains so much of himself

Roujie:　―――もしかしてフダが使えないのも”思い“が足りないせい。。。魔法律協会で使った時は夢中だったしなあ
Maybe I couldn’t use the seals because there wasn’t enough “memories”… when I used them at the Magical Law Association, I –was—in a stupor..

Muhyo: てっとり早くフダを使いこなしたければ
If you can master those seals you dispensed so quickly
