Part 1: Pandora's Isle
=Be hopeful... Huh...?
=What's the meaning of that?
<9>
=The warden's words.
=...To think someone would put that on a prison where all the inmates have life or death sentences.
<10>
=North Prison floats in the middle of Bristol Bay, Alaska... However... it's known by the name Pandora's Isle to outlaws across the globe. But for what reason...!?
<11>
=Warden's room...
=Duke Togo... Japanese-American, huh! Quite a dignified name. Born in Regina, 29 years of age... Burglary, sexual assault, arson, attempted murder, destruction of public property. Personality: cold and brutal. Past of alcoholism. Ha, a drunk eh...
=Life sentence, of course. With zero possibility of civilized return!
=I am Warden Kykers. Don't try to cause us any trouble, No. 57...
=Hey! Answer the warden!
=Very well.
=No. 57, there's something I want you to see.
=Take a look at the courtyard!
=C'mon.
<12>
=It's a prisoner detection light. A single prisoner unaccounted for, and that thing turns red...
=Don't even think about making that thing turn red!
=Listen, there isn't a single shred of hope for you in-between tomorrow and yesterday.
=Nothing!
=Remember this well!
=Is that what you meant by "Be Hopeful?"
=Ah...
=So you've got the guts to question me, the warden!?
=Very well, I'll give you your answer...
=A strange thing happens when prisoners arrive here. You tell them to die, and they cling to life.
=Tell them to be hopeful, and they lose all hope.
<13>
=I see, words only becoming of a shriveled old midget.
=T-Try saying those words one more time...
=A-And I'll have you shot on the spot...!
=Take him away!
=And don't give him any meals until after tomorrow night.
=Sir!
=However...
=Do make him go to the dining room with all the other prisoners. Heh-heh...
=Take him away!
BAM

<20>
=Special ward?
=They do everything. Escape attempts, beating up guards...
=They're not scared of anything. Of course, I guess it's only natural since they know they're going to the chair any day now.
=Condemned criminals, huh...
=Besides, those guys...
=No talking!
=Talk and we'll send you to the disciplinary cells!
=Wh-What's with that attitude!?

=I see... So evoking that article is your jurisdiction here, huh...
=You're still new. If you get down on your knees and beg, I'll forgive you for today.

=There's nobody in this world who'd willingly take the death penalty. But your attitude today, you seemed like you weren't scared of being put to death at all.
=You're acting like you don't care because you know you're going to get out anyways, Togo!
<28>
=Heh-heh... Zallas! Are you stupid!? Where do you think this is!?
=Pandora's Isle, said to be completely inescapable... Twelve have tried to escape, but none of them lived to tell the tale. Some have even made it outside the building, but...
=That was it for them. No way they could swim against that current...
=The wardens even know where the drowned bodies will turn up...
=Let me add a little to that. All of the ones who made it outside were held in cells facing the ocean! The ones who tried to escape from these cells facing the courtyard were...
=I know! It's impossible to get up to the roof because of the searchlights! Four of them tried to climb up the waterpipe on the wall, but...
=All shot dead!
=You're saying it's impossible to hide from those lights!?
=You want to escape, Zallas!?

=The factory division is on the 5th and 6th floors, right?
=That's right. They make automobile parts and furniture there.
=Is there any way to get materials from there?
=It depends... Probably.
=Then listen carefully! First we need sandpaper. Then the filings they use to polish engine exhaust pipes. Some vaseline—Toothpaste if there isn't any. And some machine oil. The kind that's thick and greasy.
=That kind of stuff should be no problem. Leave it to me.
=But... What is all that going to do!?
=Feel free to back out if you don't trust me...
=A-All right, all right...
