Bonus Manga

なぜ"Capeta"なのか

そろそろ新連載の主人公の名前を決めなければならない２００２年秋ごろ。（・・・だったかな？）
Around the fall of 2002 (I think) I was getting to the stage where I needed a name for my new main character.

朝起きたら”カペタ”って言葉が頭にあった。
When I woke one morning, the word "Capeta" was in my head.

なんとなくイタリア語っぽいひびきの名前がほしかったので（将来ティフォシに愛されたい？）コレはまんがの神様よりさずかった名前にちがいないとかってに信じこみ。
I wanted the name to have an Italian ring to it (to beloved by the Tifosi?) and thought this name was a gift from the God of Manga

おお”イエスタディ”のメロディを思いついたポール・マッカートニーのようだ　－バカ
Just like Paul McCartney when he came up with the melody to "Yesterday"　- dumbass

日本人の名前にすべく漢字を”勝平太”とあててみる。
To make it look more Japanese, I fitted the kanji ”勝平太” (Kappeita)

アルファベット表記のとき頭文字はなんとなくKよりCのほうがかわいい気がしたので
When written in alphabet, the initial seemed cuter with a C than a K

タイトルももうかれでいいや！
This will for the title as well!

数週間後・うれしいおどろきが！！
A few weeks later, a happy coincidence!

担当さんが調べてくれたのだが”Capeta”とはポルトガル語で
One of the researchers came back to me saying that "Capeta" means

”いたずらっ子””やんちゃ坊主””魔王”などを意味する言葉だったそーな。どびっくり！！
the "Devil" as in 'why, you little...' What a suprise!!

すばらしい！！いい名前だぜ、カっちゃん！！
Fantastic!! What a great name Ca-chan!!

わたしはカペタじゃなくてこー呼んでいる
I call him that instead of Capeta

考えてみれば”皇帝”を倒せるのは魔王しかいない
Come to think of it, you would need the "devil" to take down the "Red Barron"

・・・意や・・・あんがい”いたずらっこ”のほうかも・・？
... Or maybe all it takes is a naughty boy?

こんないいかげんな命名のしかたですがまんがの中身は超まじめですので今後ともカペタをよろしく！！！
