Title: What can’t be fixed.
Page 41
Sena: Hello, everyone.
Sena: My name is Sena Maria. A resident.
Sena: If you’re wondering why I’m introducing myself, it’s because…
Sena: I’ve been reborn!
Doctor: Whoa.
Doctor: That girl is really pretty.
Doctor: Do you know who that is?
Doctor: No…
Sena: Fufufu, no one even recognizes me…
Page 42
Sena: Until now, I was useless and kind of dumb,
Sfx: *glistening*
Sena: But from now on, I’ll be a female doctor worthy of being the face of the revived pediatrics department.
Sena: Maybe I can get Dr. Saijou to notice me too…
Mikoto: Good morning
Kid: Good morning, doctor!
Sena: Ah.
Sena: Good morning, Dr. Saijou!
Mikoto: Good morning Sena-san.
Sena: But this guy is pretty dense.
Sena: What do I do if he doesn’t notice at all?!
Sena: Fufufu, let’s do our best today—
Mikoto: Ahh!
Mikoto: Sena-san…are you wearing make-up?
Sena: Yay! He noticed!
Page 44
Mikoto: Yea, you look really cool!
Sena: Wow! I’m so happy I could die!
Sena: Are you off to take a nap, Dr. Saijou?
Mikoto: Yea.
Mikoto: I had a lot of patients last night and didn’t get any sleep.
Sfx: *Yawn*
Sena: So while we were eating last night, Dr. Saijou was on duty.
Mikoto: Dr. Matsunaka from the emergency department will be with you while I’m gone.
Mikoto: Though at this hour it should just be normal outpatient examinations, so there shouldn’t be any problems.
Mikoto: If something happens, don’t hesitate to wake me up.
Sena: Okay!
Sena: Gotta do my best!
Page 45
Sena: I’m a little nervous since Dr. Saijou isn’t here,
Sena: but I need to take this opportunity to build up experience to become a better doctor!
Sfx: *Hmph!*
Sign: Emergency Department.
Matsu: Hello there, Sena-kun. Happy to be working with you.
Sena: Same here. I look forward to working with you.
Matsu: Hmmm. You have very cute hands.
Sena: Eh?
Sfx: *rubbing*
Matsu: Oh, I’m sorry.
Sfx: *hahaha*
Page 46
Matsu: You’re just exceptionally beautiful today.
Sfx: *smirk*
Sena: Thanks…
Sena: Come to think of it…
Sena: I remembering hearing rumors from the nurses that this guy is actually just a perverted old man…
Matsu: I’m envious of Dr. Saijou for being to work with such a cute girl every day.
Sena: Please…don’t say that…
Sena: What do I do?
Sena: How long are we gonna be alone together…
Sena: Oh yeah! Maybe Dr. Ayame will come visit like he always does!
Page 47
Sena: I have to thank him for last night anyway…
Sfx: *click*
Doctor: This is the cardiovascular department.
Sena: Um… This is Sena from the emergency department.
Sena: Is Dr. Ayame available?
Doctor: Oh, Dr. Ayame is operating right now.
Sena: …I see.
Sena: Of course. Dr. Ayame has his own work.
Matsu: Hey, Sena-kun.
Matsu: Since there won’t be any patients any time soon, shall I show you the basics of an emergency examination?
Sena: Eh?!
Sena: No, that’s quite alright.
Matsu: No need to be shy.
Page 48
Matsu: Why don’t you lay down right there.
Sena: What?!
Sena: Yes! This is the ER!
Receptionist: This is the front desk.
Matsu: Tch.
Receptionist: There’s a child here who says his stomach started hurting on his way to school.
Receptionist: Shall I send him to you?
Sena: Yes please!
Sena: We have a patient, Dr. Matsunaka!
Matsu: I see.
Page 49
Matsu: So…how do you feel now?
Boy: Umm…it feels better now, but my stomach hurts and I feel like throwing up.
Sena: Nakajima Tetsuya, 12 years old. Sudden stomach pain and fever, nausea…
Sena: He looks a little pale, but he came here on his own and isn’t covering his stomach in pain.
Sena: It doesn’t look too serious from the outside.
Matsu: Okay, we’ll get x-rays and blood tests.
Matsu: And Sena-san, ready the ultrasound.
Page 50
Matsu: Hmm, it looks like some bacteria got into the gastro-intestinal tract and is causing inflammation.
Matsu: Bacterial gastroenteritis. Basically, your stomach has the flu.
Boy: The flu?
Matsu: I’ll get you some medicine, so you can go home once that IV runs out.
Boy: …okay.
Sena: Gastroenteritis…?
Sena: Hey, Tetsuya-kun. Could I feel your stomach too?
Boy: Um…okay.
Sena: Does it hurt here?
Boy: Yeah.
Sena: I knew it.
Sena: Dr. Matsunaka, a word…
Page 51
Sena: Dr. Matsunaka, isn’t there a chance that he has appendicitis?
Sena: His stomach is pretty swollen for gastroenteritis, and his blood test came back with a CRP of 2.4…That’s a little high.
Matsu: Hahahaha.
Matsu: Please, you’re just a resident. Yet you have a problem with my diagnosis?
Sena: That’s not…
Matsu: Well, whatever.
Matsu: Did you actually see the ultrasound?
Matsu: If it was appendicitis, the appendix would be swollen and easily visible, but Tetsuya’s appendix was perfectly normal.

Page 52
Matsu: Do you intend open up a child’s stomach in his condition?
Matsu: I couldn’t take responsibility if something happened.
Matsu: Not to mention he said he was starting to feel better.
Matsu: We can’t afford to get so involved with every patient with a minor illness.
Sena: Yes, but…
Sena: What…what would Dr. Saijou do in this situation?
Sena: He has always had the kindness and courage to stand up for his patients…
Sena: Then, how about this.
Sena: We can at least admit him for observation.
Sena: And if it turns out to be nothing…
Page 53
Sena: I’ll let you teach me those basics of emergency examination. Just the two of us.
Sfx: *gulp*
Sign: On-call room. (The sign literally says “nap room”, but I’m pretty sure it’s the Japanese equivalent of an “on-call room”.)
Sfx: *yawn*
Mikoto: That was a good nap.
Mikoto: I didn’t get any calls. Did everything go okay?
Ayame: Hey, Mikoto!
Ayame: Sena’s in trouble!
Mikoto: Ayame…
Page 54
Mikoto: What trouble?
Ayame: Just come with me!
Ayame: One of Sena’s patients’ had a sudden change in their condition.
Mikoto: A sudden change?
Mikoto: Why?
Ayame: I’ve been in surgery and a nurse just told me, so I don’t know the details, but…
Ayame: While you were sleeping, a patient came in with a perforating appendicitis.
Mikoto: Perforating…so the appendix ruptured and made a hole?
Ayame: Exactly.
Ayame: Normally, appendicitis just means an inflammation of the appendix, but perforating is different.
(the author’s * at the bottom is just explaining what perforation means, so I just melded it into the dialogue)
Page 55
Ayame: When the appendix ruptures, pus spills into the abdomen, so it doesn’t looked swollen on the ultrasound.

O – As shown in diagram above, if the pus spills out, the swelling goes down and looks like a normal appendix.
Ayame: When the pus spills out, the pain goes away and you think you’re okay.
Ayame: It’s easily misdiagnosed as bacterial gastroenteritis, but it’s a big problem.
Ayame: Since his condition changed so suddenly, it must’ve caused peritonitis. If we don’t take care of the pus, there’s a chance that abscesses will form in his pelvis.
Mikoto: Yeah.
Sign: Operating.
Mikoto: Dr. Matsunaka!
Page 56
Matsu: So you came, hotshot.
Matsu: Did you get a good rest?
Mikoto: Yeah. How about the patient?
Sfx: *point*
Matsu: He’s fine.
Matsu: It’s all thanks to your disciple.
Matsu: She’s one hell of a woman.
Matsu: I completely misdiagnosed it, yet she literally put herself on the line to stop me.
Page 57
Matsu: How in the world did you raise her to be like that?
Mikoto: Hehe. I didn’t do anything.
Mikoto: She just has the potential.
Matsu: Maybe.
Matsu: I bet she’ll become an amazing doctor.
Matsu: Just like you.
Ayame: Huh. So she held out her own.
Mikoto: Where is Sena-san?
Matsu: Dunno. Bathroom maybe?
Matsu: Well, next time you see her, tell her I was impressed.
Mikoto: Okay.
Page 58
Matsu: Just one more thing.
Matsu: During surgery, you have to match up with the lead surgeon.
Matsu: If she keeps assisting at your pace, I’ll never catch up.
Mikoto: I’ll be sure to tell her that.
Sena: Oh man…
Mikoto: Hey, Sena-san!
Sfx: *surprised*
Sena: Don’t come any closer! Don’t look at me!
Sena: My make-up got all messed up during surgery!
Mikoto: What are you talking about?
Page 59
Mikoto: This is the prettiest I’ve ever seen you.
Mikoto: Right Ayame?
Ayame: If that’s what you say.
Sena: Waa~~~nnh, Dr. Saijou~~~

Sena: I didn’t really do anything, but I’m really happy about it.
Ayame: Heh.
Ayame: Thanks to Mikoto, now even the girl he’s nurtured has started to affect others.
Ayame: Like an infinite tree diagram.
Ayame: Oh, by the way.
Page 61
Ayame: Why did you stop wearing make-up?
Ayame: Was it because it gets messed up?
Sena: Well no…I just realized something from that incident.
Sena: You know how…
Ayame: Oh, I get it.
Sena: Even without make-up I’m so pretty…
Ayame: No matter how much she grows as a doctor…
Ayame: You can’t fix stupidity.
Sena: I wouldn’t want to get so pretty that everyone falls for me <3
Sena: You be careful too, Dr. Ayame.
