Matsuo: It’s quickly been three months since we freshmen entered the world of the super-Spartan education at Otokojuku.
Matsuo: Youth who had been expelled throughout the nation end up at Otokojuku. Of all of us who should be valorous men here at this school, there are guys here within who are thinking humans.
Onihige: O—K, this is the final 300---!!
Man: HAA HAA HAA
Onihige: N~~!?
Matsuo: The story today is of one of my comrades, osu.

(TN: A “Kenzan” is a tool used in Ikebana (flower arrangement) with a heavy base from which needles are pointing upwards, upon which flowers are pushed onto)

Onihige: What, you’re crying! Article 25 of Otokojuku School Rules…A man’s tears’ must never be seen, not even at a family funeral.
Onihige: If you want to die, die on your ow~~n, fool--!! Cowards like you don’t belong in our school--!!
Kyomi: Hi hii---!!
Matsuo: Tsubakiyama did it again.
Togashi: Whatever he thought, he made a mistake coming to this school.

Tazawa: Cheer up, Tsubakiyama. Handle these worries one by one. You’ll get through it.
Matsuo: Yeah, what can you do? It’s cause that Onihige has manly hysterics.
Kyomi: Please stop with your useless compassion!! Please ignore anything about me.

(TN: He uses “ware” as an ending, which is Japanese for “me” or “myself”)

(TN: "Ginshari" is a vinegar-soaked rice, usually used as part of sushi)

Umanosuke: Cooked stew with newt and frog, Ardennes-style. A special menu I made for guys like you without strength. If you just eat this, then there’s no mistake your strength will increase with strong nourishment.

Umanosuke: This is Otokojuku Penis Dorm’s famous Bamboo-Thicket Blade Sumo. Fufufu, all of you will watch. This is ideal for disciplining cowards.
Umanosuke: This is a rough live-or-die sumo where criminals fought for the pleasure of Seitaigou, admired as one of the three worst women in the world, living in the Chinese Manchurian dynasty around a hundred years ago.
(TN: “Seitaigou”, also known as Empress Dowager Cixi, was the de-facto leader of the Manchurian Dynasty, rising from concubine to ultimately empress from the death of her emperor husband in 1861 and ruling through her death in 1908. Her rule was considered despotic in nature and is seen by many Chinese as the main reason why their nation was overwhelmed by the West during that period)

Umanosuke: Does this softy think he’s fit for Otokojuku outside reality---!!

(TN: Umanosuke’s comment is that his opponent doesn’t even have “the character “ko” in “konjo”, which essentially works better in English as “the ‘g’ in ‘guts’”.
Umanosuke: Gahahaha, I’m taking him down so easily.
Togashi: Damn, I can’t watch anymore.
Momotarou: Hold on, Togashi.
Momotarou: Be a stone wall. Those feelings don’t fit Otokojuku. This circumstance is for people to clearly determine black and white.
Togashi: Mo…Momo you………

Umanosuke: Get up--! Wont’ you get up---!! You just have the body, but you don’t have the backbone.
Kyomi: Ri…right. I’m a man with an outside, no insides. I’ve been stupid since I was young and I thought that I’d be a man like any other by going to Otokojuku, but it was hopeless after all.
Umanosuke: Uwahahaha, you’re crying again.
Kyomi: I’ve…been since I was born………
Kyomi: !!
Kyomi: …………………!!
Kyomi: You…have Piko’s collar caught in your teeth…………You…couldn’t have done that to Piko…
Umanosuke: Aah, this…he had a really nice flavor. However, I like them like Kentucky Fried Chicken……

Momotarou: Fufufu, Tsubakiyama, you really were strong. You just thought you were a coward yourself.
Kyomi: Mo…Momo………

Voice: HEY MATSUO---!!
Kyomi: Do you think a soft spirit befits Otokojuku!!
Kyomi: Wahaha, shall we go eat yakitori---!!
(TN: Yakitori is a snack of chicken coated in sauce and grilled on a hibachi, usually used as a street snack)
Togashi: How is loving animals soft?
Matsuo: They’re…fine personally.
(TN: Sort of had a hard time figuring out the last line, whether it was about Matsuo’s acceptance of animals at the end…or him criticizing on how horrible Kyomi has become)

TN: Let me just spurt this out: I don't like this chapter that much. I know there are some that probably have problems with animal cruelty, but probably the way it's all treated combined with the punchline just seems to state that caring for animals is just not part of being a man, let alone trying to have "softness amidst having a hard exterior". I'm not saying to go completely soft, just to have ways that sort of suggest not everything you do is by the sword or the blood coming out of your body. Strangely enough I did hear that Tsubakiyama actually is part of the "first year gang" in the anime rendition of Otokojuku, but aside from this and maybe the next chapter, he really never joins the cast. His whole purpose just seemed like this chapter and that's it, compared to characters who seem to define themselves rather easily and early (aside from Momotarou, obviously, they include Togashi, Hidemaro, Matsuo and Tazawa...though some you will probably start missing once the real stuff kicks in).
