For a while now, the second-years of Otokojuku really haven't lived up to their "seniority" when facing off against the first-years...well mostly Momo and Togashi. But while Edogawa is a pushover, the real threat finally shows itself...

Man 1: Fufufu, how can they handle a new Benz 500 SEC?
(TN: The car being referred to here is the Mercedes-Benz 500 SEC, a W126 (technically a W126.044) coupe introduced originally in 1981 but was only for sale for a period between ’84 & ’85 in the US & Canada & ’86-’91 through the rest of the world. Since the chapter was written in 1985, its unknown if this 500 SEC is an ’85 or an ’86 model…though considering this is Japan, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was an early for sale ’86 model)
Man 2: Hehhehe, this is surely an appropriate car for my big brother.
Older Brother: What can they do against a specially made car that cost 30 million yen equipped with 30 mm thick iron plating and bulletproof glass? Even this car horn is amazing too.
Older Brother: WE’LL HIT YOU, FOOLS---!! WE’LL RUN YOU OVER----! DUMMIES----!!
Older Brother: Well, a vocal horn?
Younger Brother: Wahhaha, there isn’t anyone who won’t open the roads to this----!!

(TN: It’s sort of weird, but he calls “students” as “seigaku” as opposed to the actual term of “gakusei”)
Older Brother: That’s ridiculous, how could they treat us like this?
Older Brother: I’ll make him realize who I am---!!

Older Brother: Wahaha, we did it. We avoided that student. Thankfully the car wasn’t contaminated with his blood!!
Younger Brother: Big brother---!!

“Student”: Worthless.

Tazawa: Are you an idiot!!
Matsuo: Such a big body shouldn’t be exposed to walking in the middle of a road.
Hidemaro: What is he? He’s acting like this is “Hokuto no Ken”----!!
(TN: While it’s obvious what that’s a reference to (particularly in “his” solitary behavior and fighting literally anything and everything in his way), remember that “Hokuto no Ken” (Fist of the North Star) was a series contemporary to Otokojuku, running in WSJ at the same time as Otokojuku started in 1985. HnK ran in Jump between 1983 & 1988)
Hidemaro: What should we do about Momo & Togashi---!!
Matsuo: It’s hopeless; we can’t get them up no matter how much we try.
Tazawa: Those two are late. If they’re exhausted, they won’t have enough time no matter how long they live----!!

Tazawa: Hehehe, we’re popular in this town----!!
Matsuo: Last spurt!!
Hidemaro: Somehow my lower body is refreshed.
“Student”: That now was the uniform of Otokojuku.
Companion: Ha, well they are!!
“Student”: Otokojuku has degraded. Since I’ve been gone………

Students: We…welcome back, head.
Edogawa: Yo…you’ve returned so sudden. We respectfully state our delight in this.

“Head”: Why are you shaking, Edogawa? My indefinite suspension has finally been cleared and I’ve returned to my alma matter. How about showing a bit of pleasure?
Voice: Principal, please explain!! Why has his indefinite suspension been cleared---!!
Hikouboshi: Don’t forget: three years ago on February 26th, the surface of the snow-covered campus was transformed into a sea of the blood of first-years…since the “Otokojuku 2-26 incident”, he’s been on indefinite suspension.
Hikouboshi: That tragedy will repeat once again!! And then our school funders will decrease and we’ll fall in the red.
Edajima: Fufufu, the head of the second-years Akashi Gouji…………I am the principal of Otokojuku, Edajima Heihachi!!

Voice: Wahaha, so all of you ran through town like that?
Sign: First-years
Matsuo: Yep. We were really embarrassed.
Tazawa: Well, it was surely the act of a kamaitachi.
Student: What’s a kamaitachi, Tazawa?
Tazawa: A kamaitachi is the name of a weasel that has claws in the form of sickles that occasionally does bad to humans.
Kyomi: How, Tazawa really is erudite.
Student: Is it true? Is there a weasel in the meeting this time?
Tazawa: Here, this is a drawing of a kamaitachi………!!

“Pigtails”: This is a message to all Otokojuku first-years from the second-year head.
“Pigtails”: All classes today have been cancelled for the return ceremony of the second-year head. All of you will gather on the campus immediately.
Tazawa: A return ceremony of the second-year head………!?
Matsuo: I…have some bad premonition.

Togashi: Oh no, oh no, I’m completely late. The school gate has already shut.
Togashi: But I have a convenient loophole for these times.
Togashi: No one should be on the grounds right now…………
Togashi: !!
Togashi: Th…this is………!!
Tazawa: Togashi you idiot.

Akashi: You really have guts, first-year from this year.
Togashi: Hu—h!?
Akashi: Isn’t that good, Edogawa…you’ve gained a friend.
Akashi: I didn’t see his face.
Togashi: What are you boasting about so proudly?
Akashi: Fuffufu, I’ll tell you now---!!

Akashi: Otokojuku’s famous “Guillotine”!!
(TN: It’s obvious that it is supposed to be “guillotine”, but the kanji used for the construction of it translates as “curious justice to the spine”)

Akashi: Well? This is a good head exercise.
Akashi: You have a rope you’re holding in your mouth…if you let go even for a moment, your head will say goodbye to your body.
Akashi: Edogawa, your nomination for acting head was my own complete miscalculation. Your many failures in facing the new first-years while I was gone has driven the law and order that is tradition of Otokojuku to the verge of collapse.
Akashi: This crime deserves certain death. From now on, Otokojuku won’t be as soft as it was until now.
Matsuo: Damn, that’s dirty.
Student: And that Momo isn’t here yet.

Akashi: Ooh, while I’m at it, as I was going to school today, there was a person who called me an idiot.
Tazawa: N…no………!!
Akashi: S—o, who was it?

(TN: This wasn’t a “real” technique, but it was actually “Hissatsu Ganmen Kaeshi”)
Akashi: IT WAS THESE IDIOTS---!!

Akashi: Oryaa, say something---!!

Akashi: Fufufu, you are an idiot………!!

Momotarou: Fufufu, I’m awfully late.
First-Years: Mo…Momo……

Akashi: What are you!? Shall I handle him with the swing of my dosu?
(TN: A “dosu” is a yakuza sword)
Momotarou: Head of the first-years, Tsurugi Momotarou. Please do so.

TN: Let me just start off with this: Akashi is creepy! His take no prisoners attitude, his contempt for both first and second-years (including punishing Edogawa), let alone his insane sword technique...yep, Akashi is finally the first real threat this series has! (well aside from anything and everything touched by Edajima) I really liked how Miyashita sort of built up the pressure of the tale by holding back both Togashi and Momo (though it's weird Momo would be late for school considering he's a bit of a stickler for the Otokojuku way himself), then having them show off how badass they are when they do face Akashi's "methods". (though it sort of isn't fair that Akashi tricks Togashi to activate the guillotine himself, but that's why he's a second-year) But now that Momo's involved, things will get interesting...and not in a way either expect!
