Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 41
Manjitengyuugatame
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 41
With years of plotting and skills far beyond that of his fellow first-year head, Date has scooped up Momotarou on his helmet preparing for the kill! Could this truly be the turning point of the match!?
Chp. 41: Manjitengyuugatame
83.
Date: Fufufu, somehow my blow held back in going through your heart. However, this here will show the worth of Hakyoku-ryuu Taijutsu!!
(TN: I kept the term of “Taijutsu” as a term that speaks of a “classic style of martial arts”.)
Momotarou: !?
Rinkai: Ooh, it’s that technique………!!
Momotarou: Uh!!
84.
(The picture seems to speak for it’self)
85.
Date: HAKYOKU-RYUU TAIJUTSU: MANJITENGYUUGATAME!!
(TN: “Manjitengyuugatame” = “Manji Heavenly Cow Hardening”, but there are a couple of particular notes in order to make this work: first of all, the “manji” is a symbol which is seen in Japan as a symbol of Buddhism, typically used as a symbol of a Buddhist temple on maps and can also take on various other Asian concepts of the manji, or swastika, as a symbol of the sun or creation. Secondly, the kanji used for “tengyuu” can also be read as “kamikirimushi”, or “long-horn beetle”, but the reading of this attack based on what is provided is found to be “heavenly cow”)
Date: If I push you down a few centimeters more, I will certainly pierce through your heart. How long can you hold out like this?
Date: Fuffufu, show me the last of your guts.
86.
Rinkai: Even if he could use his long sword for a moment, if he’s let go while being supported by those horns, then he’ll quickly be pierced through the chest plate and inevitably die when he slashes his opponent…………
Fuukai: It’s impossible to escape. He’s at wit’s end. He’s only waiting to die…………
Fuukai: Hakyoku-ryuu Taijutsu: Manjitengyuugatame…
Rinkai: I’ve heard that it was a special technique used in battle by armored warriors in the Sengoku era.
Fuukai: He’s strong; that Date is just really too strong.
Date: Soryaaa…………!!
87.
First-Years: HOORAY—HOORAY—MOMO--!! HOORAY—HOORAY—MOMO--!!
88.
First-Years: HOORAY—HOORAY—MOMO--!! HOORAY—HOORAY—MOMO--!!
Student: Oh…oh no, it’s falling……………!!
Hidemaro: Aah, it’s no good. My eyes are already gradually becoming unable to see. It’s as if I can’t even feel my limbs.
Hidemaro: I’m…sorry, Momo.
Hidemaro: I’ve re…reached my limit after all…………
89.
Tazawa: Hidemaro--!! Aren’t we all Otokojuku students----!!
Matsuo: Ta…Tazawa………!?
Hidemaro: ……………….!!
Student: Huh…!?
90.
Tazawa: How about this---!! If this pole defeats you, then my heart that is right below it will be stabbed. So then will you let go---!!
Tazawa: The one betting their life on this “Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu” isn’t just the Momo fighting: we’re betting our lives!! These guts will allow for our Great Chime Yell to reach Momo’s ears---!!
Matsuo: Ta…Tazawa………!!
Edajima: Fufufu, he did it, that Tazawa.
91.
Hidemaro: Th…thanks, Tazawa. I…I won’t complain anymore.
Hidemaro: I will keep protecting this great school flag.
Matsuo: Hooray~~~hooray~~~Mo~~mo~~
First-Years: Hooray hooray Momo!! Hooray hooray Momo!!
Tazawa: Hooray hooray Momo!!
First-Years: Hooray~~hooray~~Momo~~!! Hooray~~hooray~~Momo--!!
92.
Momotarou: Unuu………!!
Momotarou: Uuh……!!
Date: So then, are you prepared if I end this? Your dead friends will praise you too for fighting against me this far.
Momotarou: Fuffufu, you’re speaking stupid. I’m not the type who can go to hell with an unsightly means of losing like this.
93.
Date: The fire is getting closer. At this point, I wanted to carefully chew on the taste of victory with your skewering, but I can’t do that.
Date: This is the end. If you have anything left, speak it. It will go down to your allies in that world.
Rinkai: …………………!! He’s going into a finisher with that pose…!?
Momotarou: Fuffufu, leave me alone.
Date: DIE!!
94.
Date: MANJITENGYUUGATAME: RAKKARIN!!
(TN: “Rakkarin” = “Falling Flowers”; actually it’s a bit hard considering that “Rakka” is a “falling flower”, while “rin” can usually be combined with the “hana” kanji in this for “flower” to create “wreathe”, but the “rin” at the end can also be used as a counter for flowers or wheels)
Momotarou: !!
Rinkai: Well, is he going to throw him to the ground from the sky?
95.
Momotarou: Uh!!
Date: Uwahhaha---!!
96.
Date: !!
Date: What are you---!!
97.
Date: Guo!!
Date: Nuu!!
98.
Date: Well you’ve done it: the moment your arms became free from your body weight in the air, you cut the rope with your sword. However, what is your intention with the fire surrounding you?
Momotarou: ……………………It’s inevitable: I can only go down to hell with you coming with.
99.
Date: Hoo, you’re going to strike me simultaneously?
Date: Come at me, if you can! I’ll take your final slash from the front.
Momotarou: Date, you truly are strong…………however, I made a promise to my three allies who have died…
Momotarou: I must defeat you!
100.
Momotarou: I can hear it: the Great Chime Yell………!! Thank you everyone…I will never forget you. J, Togashi, Toramaru……I’m going to where you are now……
Date: Uoooo!!
101.
Momotarou: MY NAME IS TSURUGI MOMOTAROU, HEAD OF THE OTOKOJUKU FIRST-YEARS!!
Rinkai: OOH!?
TN: This chapter truly shows what it means to be an Otokojuku student. While in some ways it may seem cheesy, you get the sense that this isn't Momo alone fighting, that he is fighting for himself, for all his fallen friends and for all the first-years out in front who are releasing the greatest Great Chime Yell of their lives! Strangely, this is the chapter where Tazawa finally gives his own all alongside Hidemaro and Matsuo, using himself as a sacrifice to keep the Katsukon flag high in the air long enough until Momo wins! It seems almost unbelievabel that he would threaten suicide, but as he said: they all have to bet their lives and, considering how he didn't do much but keep track of the candles, this was his bet alongside Matsuo and Hidemaro's...and of course the fighters on Fuji. But of course the star of the chapter is obviously Momo: taking a massive risk both in taking Date's Manjitengyuugatame as well as cutting the rope of his battlefield, therefore allowing for not just his own freedom but preventing Date from using his spear...and while he prided himself on all forms of martial arts, Momo proved that maybe he isn't up to snuff with a sword with his treasured weapon being used to save his life! But of course, with both Momo and Date tired and the match reaching it's climax, you know the next chapter will be big...but trust me, considering how the Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu has gone, it is going to be an epic finish!
