Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 45
Dokugantetsu of the Banshin Room
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 45
Momo and his allies have been summoned by the Third-Years' to enter their dorm for an unknown purpose...but to get to them, they have to survive a nightmarish corridor, starting with a giant one-eyed guardian in a room of spikes!
Chp. 45: Dokugantetsu of the Banshin Room
160.-161.
“Giant”: NOW, WILL YOU ANSWER!! ARE YOU MANLY!!
Toramaru: What is this? Suddenly I want out without knowing the reason.
J: Are we men? If we’re men, then is being a man having a penis hanging down there?
Momotarou: Fufufu, even if I could explain it, it won’t be heard by our opponent. Here we can only answer what he’s asking with our bodies.
Dokugantetsu: Please tell Third-Year Dokugantetsu, guardian of the Chinju Corridor’s Banshin Room!!
(TN: “Banshin Room” or “Banshinbou” = “Room of Ten-Thousand Needles”)
162.
Toramaru: Hehhe, interesting. Will the person with the right answer get a trip to Hawaii? Why don’t I go and answer him?
Toramaru: Even so, I can’t go in unless I can walk on walls like Spiderman. Whatever the case, there has to be a way to do this………
Togashi: I’ll go.
Toramaru: Togashi, you can’t do that. Leave him to me…
Togashi: Didn’t you hear that I’m going?
Momotarou: ………………
Toramaru: What’s with the extremely terrifying face?
163.
Togashi: Taryaa---!!
Togashi: Let’s go!!
164.
Onihige: Principal, won’t something happen to them?
Sign: PRINCIPAL’S OFFICE
Onihige: How far do we plan to ignore their tyranny!! They issued the report for Momo’s quartet during class; they’re finally on the move. The authority of the teachers is instructed through the absolute feudal system from the beginning. They don’t have a thing for the Otokojuku system!!
Edajima: I am the principal of Otokojuku, Edajima Heihachi.
Edajima: Fufufu, it’s been ten years since he joined Otokojuku……….Head of the third-years, Daigouin Jaki…Hey, wax me. In truth, the power he holds has become too much.
Edajima: However, the autonomy among the students is entirely entrusted to them and the teachers can’t interfere at all. Fufufufu, that’s the three-hundred year tradition of Otokojuku.
Edajima: Leave them alone. Whatever happens, happens.
Onihige: Pr…Principal……!!
165.
Togashi: Uuh!!
Toramaru: Hey, be careful. If you run out of strength midway in that stance, it will merely end it.
Dokugantetsu: ANSWER, ARE YOU MANLY……!!
166.
Togashi: Uo!!
Toramaru: To…Togashi---!!
167.
Togashi: Nuryaa---!!
Toramaru: This is so dangerous. Even so, that Togashi has a terrifying spirit. He really has it somehow.
168.-169.
Voice: Fuffufu, he’s doing well!!
Jaki: However, dying in this ritual has no meaning towards my call for them.
170.
Cloaked: That man’s name is Togashi Genji. He’s the man who succeeded in the Oil Bath and was the second position in the “Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu”, fighting in the Dangaichuuran-kan.
Jaki: He holds terrible eyes. It’s as if the boiling hatred within those eyes is turned towards me.
Jaki: I feel that his school cap I’ve seen once before.
Cloaked: So you say…
Jaki: Fufufu, I can’t remember. It would be impossible for me to remember the faces of the men numbered like stars who have died holding a foolish blade towards me in the ten years since I became head of Otokojuku’s third-years.
Third-Years: As you wish………
171.
Dokugantetsu: ANSWER, ARE YOU MANLY!!
Togashi: …………………!?
Toramaru: What’s that? That guy’s taken out a weird object.
172.
Togashi: Gu!!
Toramaru: He’s a yo-yo monster---!!
173.
Togashi: Uo!!
174.
Dokugantetsu: ANSWER, ARE YOU MANLY!!
Togashi: Shut up: it would be better if you were defeated. Teach me now with your body.
Dokugantetsu: Fine, you will tell me. The answer will be decided by life-or-death.
Dokugantetsu: ANSWER, ARE YOU MANLY!!
175.
Toramaru: Togashi---!!
Momotarou: Fufufu, don’t worry. When asked if he’s manly, Togashi doesn’t have a reason to give a wrong answer.
Togashi: HA--!!
176.
Dokugantetsu: !!
Dokugantetsu: Fufufu, well then. Well, what is it!
Togashi: You riddle guy--!!
177.
Togashi: THIS IS THE MANLINESS OF TOGASHI GENJI---!!
Toramaru: Hee—he took it flat on his face. What great confidence.
Dokugantetsu: Quite an answer. However, you’re not correct yet.
TN: When in doubt and facing a room of spikes, always ride the guardian's spiked yo-yo to hit him in the face! Considering that Togashi really didn't seem very adept at walking on the spikes himself (and probably was worn out from his handstands and flipping around as Dokugantetsu threw the walls and other spiked objects at him), it was a very smart means for which to at least reach him and deliver his "manly blow"! (yeah, somehow Togashi always ends up with these battles where they have to prove manliness...must be a theme considering that he fought girly-man Hien and been through stuff like the Oil Bath) Dokugantetsu is just a great character: a silent giant with a spiked yo-yo-like projectile is pretty cool...but I sort of have something I need to hold off on until later since somehow a cool potential character like him doesn't quite get as much respect as he deserves. Meanwhile, we get our first hint of Jaki in that "inner sanctum" scene...it's obvious that there is something that he and Togashi have in common that will be brought up, but remember what Jaki said: he's fought so many fools that he can't even remember all of them, regardless of their relative or brother wearing something in memory! (hint, hint) Oh...and while some may say it's cowardly or stupid, Edajima did make a good point about the student relations: sure the staff is the leadership, but among students they really shouldn't intervene when the third-years want something...since they're not students. Well it's that point or "I am the principal of Otokojuku, Edajima Heihachi", but one of them made sense.
