Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 49
Run Towards the Devil!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 49
To defeat the final room of the Chinju Corridor, all Toramaru has to do is get to the end of the hall...provided that he can survive an insanely fast conveyor belt throwing him towards an electric fence manipulated by the demonic Baron Dino!
Chp. 49: Run Towards the Devil!
44.
Baron Dino: Kukkkuku, what’s wrong? Are your legs getting twisted a bit? I’ll give you a bit of encouragement………..with my Love Whip.
(TN: Dino calls his whip “Ai no Muchi”, which could be “beloved whip” but I call “Love Whip” for the time being)
45.
Baron Dino: HAIYA---!!
Toramaru: Gua!!
Baron Dino: Kukkuku, you are a horse. This Love Whip will train you, an undisguised farmhorse, into being the fastest thoroughbred in Japan.
Toramaru: This…this guy is jo…joking: wh…whose a farmhorse----!!
46.
Toramaru: GUFU!!
Togashi: Toramaru--!!
Toramaru: Uwaaa—
Toramaru: !!
47.
Toramaru: Haa---!!
Toramaru: Nuoo! I’ll kill you.
Baron Dino: Kukkuku, well you’re one whose been trained in the streets. However, it isn’t enough for one who is a true fine horse to just merely running flat roads. Occasionally where they are going has awaiting all sorts of obstacles like mountains or valleys.
Baron Dino: So next you will be challenged to an obstacle race.
Togashi: Wh…what!?
Momotarou: An obstacle race………!!
48.
Toramaru: Wha!?
Toramaru: What are these---!?
Baron Dino: Kukkuku, the “hurdles” of the Shiden Room. If you don’t clear them skillfully, your body will be sliced in two.
(TN: Another weird Otokojuku pun, “hurdle” = “Angry Blade Current”)
49.
Toramaru: Ha!
Toramaru: Ha!!
Toramaru: Ua!!
Togashi: Oh…no, he lost his balance--!!
Toramaru: Chii!!
50.
Baron Dino: Hoo
Toramaru: You a**hole---!!
51.
Toramaru: Doryaa---!!
Baron Dino: That speed……………his body is light; it doesn’t show on the outside…
Toramaru: So you realize that you’re merely sorry that you acted that way towards me---!!
52.
Baron Dino: Kukkuku, you haven’t realized yet your own situation.
Toramaru: !!
Toramaru: Ugu!!
Toramaru: Guoo--!!
Togashi: To…Toramaru---!!
53.
Toramaru: Uoo---!!
Baron Dino: Deadbone Hanging: it was thoroughly done to cattle rustlers long ago in the American Old West…their neck wrung with a rope; they were pulled by a horse. Even if they could prop their hands to the ground, they can’t stop their neck from being wrung. At the end of their hardships, they go to die with their flesh ripped off, revealing their bones: that’s where it got its name.
Baron Dino: So then, I’ll discipline you with one more idea.
Toramaru: …………………!!
Toramaru: WH…WHAT----!!
54.
Toramaru: UGUA---!!
Toramaru: Gu gu gu………!!
Baron Dino: Kukkuku, how’s that? I’m giving you a chance. I’ve too have been told by the head not to end your life by killing you. If you frankly approve that you’ve lost to me here and ask for forgiveness, I will spare only your life.
Togashi: To…Toramaru---!! You’ve…done enough. Do as he said---!!
55.
Toramaru: Get…angry at me, Togashi!!
Toramaru: Do you think I’m a man who will stain his life by crying in a match? Do you think I can merely lose with the folly I’ve taken until now?
Togashi: To…Toramaru………!!
Toramaru: Nuu……!!
Baron Dino: Hoo, interesting. From that stance, he intends to hold a trial of strength with me.
56.
Toramaru: Ooh……!!
Baron Dino: It’s forever hopeless. I plan to wickedly play with you. Kukkuku, do you think you can continue playing tug-of-war with me?
Baron Dino: I hate these tired things.
Togashi: Th…that guy let go of the whip!!
57.
Toramaru: I’ve waited for this moment. I’m so sly to surely think of this.
Baron Dino: Uh!!
Toramaru: Soryaa---!!
58.
Baron Dino: ¡!
Toramaru: Uoo!!
Baron Dino: Fugua!!
59.
Toramaru: Stand up………!!
Baron Dino: You brat, it seems you don’t really want to live.
Baron Dino: Die, fool--!!
Baron Dino: Uh!!
Toramaru: You really like mocking people.
60.
Baron Dino: Ge!!
Baron Dino: Uooo---!!
Toramaru: Hehhehe, have you forgotten oldie? This corridor is moving. You’ll be burned to a crisp. Then again, how can you run if you can’t get your hand out?
Baron Dino: !!
61.
Baron Dino: Gugyaa---!!
Togashi: !?
Toramaru: Heh, someone cut the power.
“Shadow”: Well done. You’ve broken through the Chinju Corridor, 1sts. Now the next room of the Tendou Palace is where the head of the Third-Years is waiting.
TN: Let me just say this: we've probably just witnessed one of the best fights Toramaru has in the series...then again, it's one of the few solo fights he has! Not really spoiling anything, but considering what he faced in that battle with Gekkou in the Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu (and what's coming up soon), Toramaru really doesn't seem to get the spotlight that often...but in this chapter, we got to see a good variety of his skills, endurance, passion and the instinctive smarts that he has aside from being the "wild-man comic relief" of the main First-Year quartet! Heck, it takes a madman to pretty much think of forcing Dino to let go of his favorite whip just so Toramaru can use it against him! (and of course refusing to surrender even when Togashi pleaded him to...then again with Jaki in the next room, it's no wonder Togashi wants to just get this fight over with) Baron Dino, meanwhile, is...how we say, a suave creep: not really creepy and sadistic like Henshouki or a silent force like Dokugantetsu but one who was flashy and tried to show sophistication amidst his brute personality...and that probably is what made him cool. Though one thing I find weird about the Chinju Corridor now that it's done: Toramaru was willing to let Dino get electrocuted while at the same time Dokugantetsu just let them through with no problems after his challenge and Henshouki was essentially forced to let them through after threatening J even after he defeated his challenge. I guess that the Baron's only bit of luck is that he was so close to the main room of the third years that they could turn it off if it ever came to that...
