The Otokojuku First-Years have arrived at the location of the Daiishin Paaren Seiha: a long castle with a dragon-head gate and a Chinese-speaking guide! But are they ready for the bizarre that awaits in the beyond where Third-Years wait!?

Chp. 55: Jikan Hyakuchuurin Fight

161.
Wan Taaren: Before we pass through the Kiryuu Gate, we will hold the ceremony of the Takushou Stone. Eight Warriors of the Daiishin Paaren Seiha, gather around the rock over there.
(TN: “Takushou Stone” or “Takshouseki” = “Life-Entrusting Stone”)
Toramaru: N—this the rock?
Toramaru: What is this…………eight chains are growing from within the rock.

162.
Wan Taaren: Any chain is fine for each of you. Whichever one you choose and grab is fine.
Gekkou: ………………
Togashi: Hu~h? Like this?
Toramaru: What is that oldie planning?
Wan Taaren: Right: now never let go of that chain.
Wan Taaren: HA—HA—AIYA~~AIYA~~

163.
Togashi: Uo!!
Matuso: He jumped off---!!
Wan Taaren: CHOISA---!!

164.
First-Years: HAH…!!
Matsuo: L…look……!!
First-Year: But that’s amazing destructive power…
Tazawa: Both sides of the four chains are grabbed by two people.
Wan Taaren: That is the Daiishin Paaren Seiha’s Takushou Stone ceremony. The warrior who is mutually grabbing the same chain is who you will be sharing with in life and death…you will fight to the bitter end by combining your power.

165.
Wan Taaren: The number card attached to the chain indicates the order you will fight.
Wan Taaren: FIRST: RAIDEN, J!!
Wan Taaren: SECOND: HIEN, TOGASHI!!
Toramaru: ……………………
Wan Taaren: THIRD: GEKKOU, TORAMARU!!
Wan Taaren: FOURTH: DATE, MOMO!!
Matsuo: Wh…what’s going on? Why are they all with the one they fought in the “Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu”?
Tazawa: Yet this time, they’ve become each other’s ally? This is too much. Isn’t this some sort of trick?
Wan Taaren: This isn’t a trick or anything: this is destiny. By karma, whether when they are fighting or when they are friends, they are always linked by unseen chains.

166.
Wan Taaren: Now we can finally pass through the Kiryuu Gate for the Daiishin Paaren Seiha’s Paaron Long Castle. FROM HERE ON, IT IS UNFORGIVABLE FOR THOSE OTHER THAN THE EIGHT FAMED WARRIORS TO GO AHEAD.
Student: Hey, you can do this. We’ll surely cheer you too. Leave the giving out the “Wa—“’s to us.
(TN: I sort of got confused with the “Wa-toru” part, so I tried to make it like the student is saying to leave the screaming to them)
Student 2: Don’t you lose to those 3rds.
Matsuo: Toramaru! Don’t bungle it up pulling everyone’s legs down with you.
Toramaru: Don’t fuss!!

167.
Toramaru: What’s that gong sound……………
Wan Taaren: LET’S GO: FOLLOW ME.
Date: Its karmic saying that there is no exit in the Daiishin Paaren Seiha, even from the entrance…………
Momotarou: We’ll come back alive………all eight of us…………
Date: THE EXIT WILL BE MADE BY US.

168.
Hidemaro: Phew—how exactly long are they going to keep going on that long castle?
Matsuo: How could these historic ruins exist in Japan?
Tazawa: I see an large amount of fog gathering overhead.

169.
Voice: Even so, it’s bizarre that we haven’t seen those 3rd guys. Where are they?
Togashi: This Paaren Seiha is chaired by the 3rds, we seem to be the away team…We don’t see them, but somewhere they should brighten within our eyes.
Momotarou: What are you thinking, Date…
Date: Can’t you hear them………Momo…
Date: Since a thousand years in the past, hundreds to thousands of martial artists progressed without reaching the end of this long castle as such. Listen to them: the wails of the valorous men who fell in battle partway through their motive……………
Momotarou: Fufufu, I didn’t know you were that much a romanticist.
Date: Don’t talk so stupid. You shouldn’t have such decency.
Toramaru: N~~what’s that………? There’s something beyond the fog.

170.
Everyone: !!
Toramaru: Wh…what’s that………!!

171.
Wan Taaren: THIS IS JIKAN HYAKUCHUURIN!! HERE WE WILL PULL THE CURTAIN FOR THE FIRST BATTLE OF THE DAIISHIN PAAREN SEIHA!
(TN: “Jikan Hyakuchuurin” = “Great Magnetic Hundred-Stop Forest”)
First-Years: Wh…what……!!
Wan Taaren: STEP FORWARD, FIRST TEAM! YOU TWO WILL SHOW YOUR FAME

172.
Wan Taaren: Chinyao Chishe…………Both of you will attach one of these pairs to one of your legs
(TN: “Chinyao Chishe” = “Youthful Positive Magnetic Shoes”)
Togashi: What, Chinyao Chishe………!? What is that set of sandals………….!?
Wan Taaren: That is fine……once you’ve put on those magnetic shoes, you can never take them off until I do so.
Wan Taaren: Now, climb up to the top of the pillar with the rope ladder.

173.
Toramaru: Don’t be negligent, J! You should be careful too, Raiden.
Tazawa: Oh, J and Raiden are starting to climb the pillar.
Matsuo: Somehow they’ll be fighting on top of the pillars. But what high pillars. From that height, if they lose their footing, they can go down without problem.

174.
J: Uh!! This is……!!
Raiden: Our legs………!!
Voice: Fufufu, how is it? The leg you’ve put the Chinyao Chishe on won’t move a step even if you move it.
J: Mu…!
Voice: Even so, you should know that those magnetic shoes possess a hundred-thousand Gauss of magnetism; your foothold clings with the power from “Entetsukou”.
(TN: “Entetsukou” = “Salt Iron-Steel”)

175.
Manjimaru: Henshouki! Manjimaru, one of the Otokojuku Shitennou!! The ones you’re fighting on this Jikan Hyakuchuurin will be us…!!
Henshouki: You said it was J………I was unprepared in the Chinju Corridor. Won’t it be great to go at it with you again…

176.
Wan Taaren: The ones who can’t move are the two of you together. The Third-Year side are also wearing the Chinyao Chishe. To free your legs, you’ll need this Shaenban to intercept the power of the magnet.
(TN: “Shaenban” = “Intercepting Lead Plate”)
Wan Taaren: TAKE IT--!!
Wan Taaren: It’s best to attach this Shaenban to your heel. Understood? This is for one of you among you two…this Shaenban is the key to switching participants.

177.
Commentary:
Jikan Hyakuchuurin Fight…a type of grappling sport which energetically occurred by way of kenpo fighters in Shisen during the Sung Dynasty of China. In those days, they went into the branches of cedar groves, cutting off the top area, making a foothold from the cut area. These cedars are over fifteen meters from the bottom, with a diameter richly altered from ten cm to 3 meters: if one falls from them, they’ll instantly die without mistake: truly a match where you bet your life. Since then, the Jikan Hyakuchuurin Fight was perfected with the discovery of high magnetism on Mt. Chinyao in Shisen, the covering of iron plates at the top of the cedars and the addition of magnetic shoes, making them fight as two vs. two. Regardless of the infinite changes to Chinese fighters, the Jikan Hyakuchuurin Fight has been requested as the ultimate in abilities and teamwork. One advanced fighting means. The tag-matches seen with pro wrestlers today closely resembles the Jikan Hyakuchuurin Fight.
-From “Great Chinese Kenpo”, General Surveyor Nakatsugawa, Jigenshutsu Publishing
Toramaru: Heh, even so, they’ll handle that Henshouki. Even that Shitennou Manjimaru somehow is a bluffer whose merely show. There isn’t an enemy that can face J’s Mach Punch. And that oldie Raiden is strong enough to fight J evenly.
Date: Don’t talk so stupidly. The Otokojuku Shitennou…if you mess with them, no matter how many lives you have, it won’t be enough.
Momotarou: Aah, they don’t seem like normal ones…………

178.
Henshouki: Fufufu, we won’t even need Manjimaru-sama of the Otokojuku Shitennou to come out. Leave it all to me here……………
Manjimaru: Jaki-sama desires a perfect victory in the Daiishin Paaren Seiha…Don’t forget: any error means your death.
Henshouki: ………Right…

179.
J: I’ll be going first.
J: At any rate, I’m a guy who itches when he wants to do something.
Henshouki: Well come!! Now we’ll finish this: will it be your Mach Punch or my Tenbin Shouha?

TN: Yeah, J and Henshouki have plenty of unfinished business to attend to considering what happened in the Chinju Corridor, but as it currently stands, it's sort of strange that, once again, the boxer is in an unfavorable scenario for himself. Considering the whole nature of movement, J believes himself confined to the ground that he's standing on (whether or not he's wearing that heel that prevents the magnetism from getting to him). But of course, if you remember the situation in the Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu, J could attack as long as he had a platform to stand on to face Raiden with...but of course he won when Raiden attacked close-up, but I highly doubt that Henshouki would commit that same mistake. (well first he'd need a knife in his shoe but...) The chapter itself, though, was rather brutal, with an unrelenting commentary regarding the Jikan Hyakuchuurin and...Taaren's "Chinese with Japanese furigana" starting to get to me en masse compared to the end of the last chapter. (heck, it even was hard to realize that the weird sandals they had to wear were essentially Chinese with no Japanese equivalent) But it was all worth it with many interesting moments, including Taaren's comment of "the karmic connection of former opponents" and Date and Momo's conversation about the "dead of the Paaron castle". Date's not a romanticist at all, Momo just doesn't care.
