Man: Well, it's great we got a good omen for the year!

Driver: HEY, WHERE WERE YOU LOOKING!!
Takashi: .........
Man: See he really was.........!!

Benz Driver: Well this is bad. You scratched my new car.
Takashi: There isn't a violation at all here. At any rate, I'll be speaking with the police.
Benz Driver: WHY DO WE NEED POLICE! YOU SHOULD WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GO--ING!!
Man: Hey, hurry up. For today, just take a business card!!
Takashi: .........
Benz Driver: I'll have your business card or whatever. We'll slowly discuss this over another day.

(TN: Since it's the exact same as the card Takashi gave the girl in "Lodger", I just copied that)
Man: Phew. Fujii-kun, is it alright that you gave him your business card?
Takashi: The fault is obviously his, and further if he's leaving from the scene without reporting the accident, then it's a hit-and-run. We should report this accident to the police.
Benz Driver: .........

Takashi: An interview with me...?
Phone: Yes, he's waiting in the first-floor lobby.

(TN: The actual Japanese term is "Kyou ni itte wa kyou ni sitagae", which translates as "when in the village, do as they do"...which is the Japanese version of the "Rome" quote)

Kanoko: It's fine if you don't take off your underwear.
Takashi: Huh...

Kanoko: Since my husband sees you as an important guest, I'm offering to rub this antiseptic solution as such. My husband remembers this custom from Manilla.
Takashi: Well--that's what his wife does. (internal) My false impressions had failed, relieving my inner self.
Takashi: But...isn't it terrible that you've married a society man like Matsuda?
Kanoko: My husband is a man whom I can't replace. For him, I'm not bothered to do anything.
Takashi: .........

Matsuda: Takashi...I still am indebted to you. Since leaving middle school, I've really been regretful.
Takashi: What did I lend to you? I've forgotten already.
Matsuda: That summer in 9th grade...I was the offender of that violent incident where you did nothing; which sent me to reform school. You were student council president at the time. Thanks to the testimony that I wasn't affecting you, I peacefully was able to graduate from middle school.
Matsuda: Thanks, Takashi!

Matsuda: How about we wash in a personal bath to sober up? It's a bath prided for being wide, how about we take it together?
Matsuda: I bought it cheap from the president's house when the bubble burst.
(TN: This is probably in reference to the end of the bubble economy Japan had held where prices collapsed in the 1990s)
Takashi: From the moment I looked at his back, I could imagined his troubled life that he couldn't let me taste from within that space of many years.

Matsuda: You may think that I have a strange hobby, but keep quiet about what will clean your body
Takashi: Huh...

(TN: Matsuda is referring to Kanoko as the worker of a "soapland", a type of Japanese brothel where men get washed by the female clientelle)

Takashi: I didn't understand his world at all. However, I can't mistake just that Matsuda has obtained the ultimate treasure.

TN: It's bizarre: the last chapter was sort of one I was looking forwards to due to the girl...but just turned really strange due to that "revelation". On the other hand, this chapter sort of felt at first like it was going to go in a bizarre direction...but somehow turned out much better than I expected. In a bizarre way that didn't really reveal it all, it was obvious that Matsuda was in very sketchy stuff (probably a simple yakuza considering his position and importance) and that Kanoko was just one of his "rewards" for doing so, but somehow this turned out a much better chapter than I imagined it would be. I guess it was mostly due to the gratitude as well, and most importantly, due to Kanoko. It was obvious that even though Matsuda was into "that", he did win getting her for a wife...though I sort of wish I knew the story for those other two!
