Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 58
Man with a Murdering Fist
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 58
After witnessing Raiden's cowardly murder, J's angry Mach Punch has finally taken out Henshouki! But though one opponent is down, there is still the other one...and with his ability and position, Manjimaru isn't going to be as easy!
Chp. 58: Man with a Murdering Fist
(TN: This is “Satsujinken”, but I had to differentiate it from “THE” Satsujinken Gekkou used in the last arc)
26.
(Just Henshouki getting destroyed by J, no real dialogue needed)
27.
Togashi: Ho…how could it come to this………
Toramaru: That strong Raiden has………
28.
Date: That idiot…………he was worthless. I say he’s a disgrace of the Sanmenken.
Toramaru: Wh…what…………
Togashi: Say that once more…………!! How could you be calm even with the death of your partner? What’s with your speech against your dead ally!!
Date: How many times should I say it! If you two don’t want to come to that, then shut you’re a**es.
Togashi: Y…you--!!
Togashi: !!
29.
Toramaru: …………………!!
Togashi: Date, you………
Hien: No matter how many years it’s been, we’re together in life and death, connected by bonds deeper than the blood of family. Somewhere there are those who aren’t saddened by death.
Hien: He’s that type. He goes through the greatest pain when he sees the death of a partner…Therefore; he gains a stern manner that doesn’t release with this great sacrifice…
Hien: His truly is a kind person.
Momotarou: Yes, I understand…………
30.
J: Go away……!! I don’t know if your life can be saved.
Henshouki: NUUURYA---!!
31.
(Yep, Henshouki is owned)
32.
Henshouki: Gugya!!
Henshouki: ………………!!
33.
Henshouki: N…no. As he said, I can’t possibly win as he is now. Ho…how about switching with me so he…
Manjimaru: Have you forgotten……………I should have said it: any error will mean your death………
Henshouki: Pl…please save me, Manjimaru-sama. My life doesn’t want me to die yet!!
Manjimaru: You’re unsightly.
Henshouki: Hi!!
34.
Henshouki: Ugyaaa---!!
J: !!
Togashi: …………………………!!
Toramaru: Wh…what is he? He did that to an ally begging for his life…
35.
Date: Chi, he’s wearing a Koudou Protector. With that, he can repel even gun bullets………!!
(TN: “Koudou Protector” or “Koudoubou” = “Steel Trunk Defense”)
36.
Wan Taaren: Death is confirmed…
Wan Taaren: That man called J, how tall is his great stature?
(TN: Well at least Taaren is finally speaking “regular Japanese”)
Togashi: 190 cm, but……………
(TN: 190 cm = 6 ft. 2.8 in)
Toramaru: Why exactly did you ask!?
Wan Taaren: I’m preparing his coffin.
Toramaru: Wh…what---! Y…you, you shouldn’t be spitting those omens---! Are you saying that J is going to lose to that guy---!!
Wan Taaren: Manjimaru, one of Otokojuku’s Shitennou…an opponent can’t win against his Mouryouken. But he is a man who has mastered Hyakunin Dokukyou, the ultimate trial of Mouryouken.
(TN: “Mouryouken” = “Fist of Ghosts and Spirits”, based on “Mouryou” as a term for “all kinds of spirits and goblins; “Hyakunin Dokukyou” = “Hundred-Man Poison Evil”, akin to the “Evil” as used in the battle terms of the “Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu”)
Date: Wh…what……!?
Momotarou: Hyakunin Dokukyou…!?
37.
Commentary:
Hyakunin Dokukyou……this occurs as proof of training of Mouryouken, a terrifying murderous kenpou which flows in the darkness through the history of Chinese Kenpou. Before their match, the challengers drink a slow-acting poison called “Ginjuntan”, which is produced in Fukuken (Fujian), and then hold a ten-vs.-one battle where they’re face a ten-man team. Thus as they defeat the ten, they are presented a tenth of the antidote for the poison; starting from when they have defeated a hundred men on ten teams, their life will be saved.
As time goes on, the poison will obviously weaken the body. It goes without saying that defeating all of the kenpo fights of the hundred makes it necessary to have extraordinary physical strength and ability. This is a grand trial where you master the maximum limits of the human spirit and physicality. Those who have fulfilled it are presented the title of “Matchless warrior”, with a symmetry of fear and honor as a true valorous man.
-From “Hidden History of Chinese Kenpo”, General Surveyor Nakatsugawa, Jigenshutsu Publishing.
(TN: “Ginjuntan” = “Silver Martyr Pill”)
38.
Toramaru: Heh, what is this Hyakunin Dokukyou? No matter how many hundreds he’s won against, he won’t win against J.
Togashi: Well that’s obvious, curly hair!!
Date: ………………….!!
Wan Taaren: It’s best if you answer my question…what is his height……!?
39.
Manjimaru: Come!!
40.
(Note J’s attacks)
41.
J: !!
Manjimaru: The Mach Punch truly has destructive power. However, even if it defeated Henshouki, you won’t use it on me.
42.-43.
Toramaru: Wh…what is he!
Togashi: This isn’t good, he’s meeting J’s punch with an open hand---!!
(TN: Togashi didn’t really say “open-hand”, he actually is using “shutou”, which is a hand which is being used like a blade in attack)
Manjimaru: RETSUBU KOUSATSUSHI!!
(TN: “Retsubu Kousatsushi” = “Violent Dance Hard Killing Finger”)
44.
Toramaru: Wha…!! J’s magnum-steel knuckles have been smashed---!!
45.
Date: As expected for just being called a Shitennou. J’s chance of winning is weak with his Mach Punch sealed.
Momotarou: Fu…..Date, you shouldn’t hold that position; where were you looking? J’s strength is greater than we thought.
Date: What……!?
Manjimaru: Fufu, at the moment you released your left punch, you did a one-two, releasing your right instantly.
Manjimaru: Interesting, this is good. Thus one has appeared that I can handle…………..!!
TN: It's weird that after having him face both a kenpoist who is more a swordsman (Momo), an acrobatic martial artist (Raiden) and a sick insane aerial ace (Henshouki) that Manjimaru is literally J's first true fight with someone we could say has a similar ability type to his own. Sure Mouryouken is more a kenpo-style and we know of it's horrors as explained by the poison trial he had to survive, but the way the battle has gone is more true hand-to-hand combat as opposed to something that relies on multiple styles of fighting like many of J's previous opponents. The intensity is just great with how both opponents take their initial blows...but there is a lot more to this chapter than that somehow as great as the action was. For some strange reason, Hien's comment about Date suffering with Raiden's death just somehow reminds me a bit of the relationship of Sensui and Itsuki in Yu Yu Hakusho...probably mostly due to it involving another serious warrior and effeminate male but it just reminded me of that when it occured. And somehow as sick as it was, Wan Taaren (who finally just speaks normal Japanese) asking about J's coffin before facing Manjimaru was a nice joke and an affirmation of the Mouryouken warrior's abilities.
