Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 86
Look at the Deadly Secret
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 86
With everything on the line, including the will of the deceased Gekkou, Momotarou has stood up and easily handled the first wave of attack by Eikei! But as his enemy becomes more cornered, will he become even deadlier!?
Vol. 10: The Man Called Daigouin Jaki
Chp. 86: Look at the Deadly Secret
8.
First-Year 1: L…look at Momo’s sword judgment now---!!
First-Year 2: Yeah: he repelled the boomerang thrown by Eikei, conversely hitting him---!!
Hidemaro: A…amazing bleeding. It seems like he severed a shoulder aorta---!!
9.
Eikei: Gu!!
Eikei: Why did you place your sword in your scabbard………!?
Eikei: Did you think I’d be defeated with this sort of wound!!
Momotarou: ……………………
First-Year 1: Wh…what is that guy…this time he took out his boomerang in place of a weapon.
First-Year 2: He can’t win anymore with that wound and Momo his opponent!!
10.
Eikei: HA--!!
11.
Eikei: NUU!!
Eikei: GUU!!
Eikei: !!
12.
Eikei: Uh!!
Momotarou: That’s enough…!! With your bleeding, you now can’t defeat me. Even the dead Gekkou has wished for your death.
Eikei: ………………
First-Year 1: He did it: he smashed both of his boomerangs---!!
First-Year 2: This makes him the same as a bird plucked of his wings!!
First-Year 3: Momo’s won this match---!!
13.
Jaki: It’s as he said, Eikei. It’s best you leave the rest to me.
Eikei: Those don’t seem like the words of Jaki-sama. Though I who govern the Otokojuku Shitennou am afraid of death, you’re the one who should know best that we can’t be men who withdraw from these things.
Eikei: Have you forgotten? The deadly secret of Kiritsu-ryuu!
(TN: Though in a technique I’d probably translate it as “Shi no Ougi”, I rather use it here as is as the translated “deadly secret”. BTW: I didn't notice this until later on, but at this point we get another "style" from Eikei: "Kiritsu-ryuu", which is "Breathless Fear-Style")
First-Year 1: Huh, the deadly secret---!!
First-Year 2: Eikei still has some other technique, even at this point----!?
Jaki: …………………………Eikei, you…!!
14.
Eikei: It’s best you watch, Momo!!
First-Year 1: What’s with that Eikei: he took out what looks like a bamboo pipe and poured some liquid on his hand.
First-Year 2: L…look, th…that’s…………!!
15.
First-Year: Wh…what—Eikei’s hand is turning black----!!
Eikei: KIRITSU-RYUU SHIOUGI: SENKYOU DOKUSHU!! I am showing this to this world. Its best you take this final fist I’m betting my life on!!
(TN: First of all, as I mentioned before, “Shiougi” = “Deadly Secret”; “Senkyou Dokushu” = “Disastrous Placement Poison Hand”, though at the same time “Dokushu” also in Japanese is “dirty trick” but with the poison on his hand, we have to take it literally)
16.
Wan Taaren: You’re dreadful to have Senkyou Dokushu, Eikei.
First-Year: W…Wan Taaren knows of it! This Senkyou Dokushu!!
Wan Taaren: What he sprinkled on his hand is a strong poison that can defeat even a giant elephant in several seconds.
First-Years: Wh…what—A…strong poison----!!
Wan Taaren: It’s a secret of secrets in Chinese kenpou…that poisoned hand will have poison enter the blood from them if they give him even a scratch, ending the life of the opponent there and then. However, the person who commences this will have the poison directly go into their own body even at just a different time; they’ll slowly have the poison permeate into their skin, cutting off their own life.
Wan Taaren: And what’s more terrifying than anything is that the one resolved to die will have a fighting spirit born from this!! This rightly is a deadly secret.
Date: ……………………!!
17.
Jaki: I can’t say anything anymore! I’ve ascertained through my eyes that you will fight until the end.
18.
Hidemaro: Heh, what is this poisoned hand.
First-Year: Well, how is he going to avoid Momo’s sword bare-handed!!
19.
Eikei: OOH--!!
Momotarou: Fu--!!
Momotarou: !!
20.
Momotarou: Mu!!
First-Years: Aah, he twined his cape and struck to break his sword---!!
21.
Eikei: Doryaa--!!
Wan Taaren: This is amazing…a consecutive attack without even losing his breath! He’s surely holding a spirit that is burdened with his nearing death!!
22.
Eikei: Nuoo---!!
First-Year 1: N…no. He can’t avoid a poisoned hand that will have him die even with a scratch----!!
First-Year 2: Mo…Momo, run far away---you’ll make time----!!
First-Year 3: Ooh, of course: Eikei will die himself with the poison circulating him!!
Date: No! He isn’t a man who could do such a thing. He’ll directly take this attack that Eikei is betting his death on: that’s the kind of man Momo is.
23.
Momotarou: Uh!!
First-Years: Oh…oh no, Mo…Momo has lost his footing---!!
Eikei: I’VE GOT YOU---!!
24.-25.
Eikei: HUH…!!
Momotarou: You have admirable tenacity in this match…!! But I don’t have a reason to lose either!!
TN: You can easily tell an enemy is getting more desperate if they seem to resort to turning their hand into a deadly poison weapon at the cost of themselves slowly dying from the same ailment. It's obvious that Eikei was forced to use a double-edge sword but considering that he's being watched over by Jaki and doesn't want to seem like a wimp to him (even after all he's done), it really was more a matter of pride than even of winning. The same could also be said of Momo: he could just wait it out until Eikei drops dead of the poison, but he has too much pride to do so and continues to fight with all he has...so therefore, with the pride of two stubborn warriors, it all comes down to whoever can defeat the other...as it should in these sorts of series.
