Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 104
The First Victim!!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 104
After witnessing Dokugantetsu becoming helpless by Rouroukan leader Sou Reigen's tiny manipulative stones, Momotarou finally enters the Daibukai battle! But will his actions be enough to stop the small warrior and save his classmate!?
Chp. 104: The First Victim!!
183.
Momotarou: Both of us don’t have a reason to add any further casualties in the Preliminary League. We should decide it by boss battle.
Sou Reigen: That’s fine. May I have your name?
Momotarou: Head of the Otokojuku First-Years: Tsurugi Momotarou.
184.-185.
(Title Page…yep, this is the climax considering Momo and Sou Reigen are like that on the cover)
186.
Dokugantetsu: Gu!!
Momotarou: You’ve regained consciousness, senpai.
Dokugantetsu: Mo…Momo………
Sou Reigen: Fu, you’re a pitiful senpai, having your life saved by a kouhai. This Otokojuku is a very fine name, but it’s a collective of cowards.
Dokugantetsu: Wha………A…collective of cowards…
Momotarou: !!
Dokugantetsu: Uoo---!!
Momotarou: Wh…what---!! S…stop, Dokugantetsu---!!
187.
Sou Reigen: You’re a fool that doesn’t know his position.
Dokugantetsu: !!
Dokugantetsu: GUWAA!!
Togashi & Toramaru: Do…Dokugantetsu~~~!!
Sou Reigen: This makes Dokugantetsu into Mugantetsu.
(TN: This is actually a bit of a play of words here: Dokugantetsu’s name literally translates into “Single Iron Eye”; Sou Reigen changes the ‘doku’ in his name into ‘mu’, turning his name into “No Iron Eye”)
188.
Dokugantetsu: D…don’t come for me, Mo…Momo……
Dokugantetsu: Uoo---!!
Sou Reigen: I can freely control the flexibility of my enemy’s muscles, having them move at my will. You seem to not understand yet the terror of the Shoukyuu Soudan.
Dokugantetsu: Gu!!
Sou Reigen: So, what will happen if my second throw is shot into your hip knots?
Dokugantetsu: Nuga!!
189.
Dokugantetsu: Ooh!!
Dokugantetsu: Gugyaa---!!
Toramaru: Do…Dokugantetsu~~~!!
Togashi: He…he br…broke Dokugantetsu’s spine---!!
190.
Sou Reigen: Your rear brain and spinal cord is in pieces. No matter how much of a tough man you are, you won’t survive.
Momotarou: Dokugantetsu---!!
Momotarou: ……………………
Dokugantetsu: Fufufu, I’ve…gotten so clumsy.
Momotarou: Wh…why……………why did you thoughtlessly face him again……………You should understand the best the hard way that you couldn’t win against him.
191.
Dokugantetsu: Fufu, insulting me is forgivable, but merely insulting Otokojuku is unforgivable. H…he let out that Otokojuku was a collective of cowards.
Dokugantetsu: A…as for me, Otokojuku is, how you say, like a parent. A muddy guy like me has been taught both the relentlessness of fighting and the importance of friendship.
Dokugantetsu: If I were to turn away from my parent being ridiculed, I…I would forever stop being a man.
Toramaru: Do…Dokugantetsu………!!
Dokugantetsu: I…ask you to…take the rest...............!!
Momotarou; DO…DOKUGANTETSU----!!
192.
Sou Reigen: Well, what’s wrong? How long will I have to wait? So are you not anxiousl are you cowering?
Sou Reigen: There’s no match in front of my Shoukyuu Soudan. In the three-thousand year history of Chinese kenpou, there are somehow three people who have inherited this technique, which is a secret among secrets.
Sou Reigen: One is my teacher. And there’s me…we’re not sure whether it’s true just on that last one. Do you get it? In some ways I’m called a genius…
Momotarou: Wait for me, Dokugantetsu. I’ll take down your enemy.
193.
Momotarou: You’re unforgivable, trash!!
(TN: Usually I translate “gedou” as “heretic”, considering that the literal translation is “someone who practices any other religion aside from Buddhism”. But considering that it feels awkward, I went with something a bit more appropriate)
Sou Reigen: Fufu, what are you enraged about?
194.
Momotarou: !!
Sou Reigen: Hou, you can’ do a bit just by being called a boss.
Sou Reigen: So then, how about with this? SHOUKYUU SOUDAN: CHOUTOU SANKAKU-UCHI!!
(TN: “Choutou Sankaku-uchi” = “Snap-Trace Triangle Strike”)
195.
Momotarou: Nu!!
Momotarou: Gu!!
Toramaru: Aah, the Soudan that bounced off the ground got Momo’s leg----!!
Togashi: Mo…Momo~~~!!
196.
Sou Reigen: Fufu, this wasn’t by chance: from the repulsion angle and the rebound angle, I’ve calculated that shot towards you.
Sou Reigen: I’ve pierced into the agonist of your thigh. Already you aren’t able to move it.
(TN: The “agonist” is a type of skeletal muscle that causes one or several movements from its contraction)
Momotarou: Nuu………!!
Sou Reigen: I already see this match. As the defeated leader, I will present you an honorable death.
Sou Reigen: By seppuku.
197.
Momotarou: Ugu!!
Momotarou: Kua!!
Toramaru: Th…that stance is the same as when slant-eyes committed suicide!!
Togashi: A…at this rate, Momo’s going to cut open his own stomach~~~!!
Momotarou: Uuh!!
Sou Reigen: Right. The next Soudan will swing the blade down as it hits your shoulder.
198.
Sou Reigen: Die---!!
Momotarou: Uoo!!
Togashi & Toramaru: Mo…Momo~~~!!
199.
Sou Reigen: Fufu, how painful.
Sou Reigen: I have sympathy. As your suicide assistant, I’ll free you from your pain.
(TN: Usually whenever someone commits seppuku, they do have an assistant helping them along, usually either to kill them after they commit their deed and “free from pain” or to assist them as they commit their act)
Momotarou: That’s unnecessary.
Momotarou: It’s better to worry about yourself than to worry about another.
Sou Reigen: Huh…!?
Sou Reigen: !!
200.
Togashi & Toramaru: MO…MOMO~~~!!
Toramaru: Mo…Momo wasn’t killed.
Togashi: The blade was stopped by his belt buckle---¡!
Sou Reigen: Fufufu, you have good luck. You were saved by where you swung down to.
Momotarou: No…don’t you get it? I threw it off, hitting my blade on the buckle.
Sou Reigen: Hu~~h!?
201.
Momotarou: If I had taken the Soudan of a person who had perfectly mastered Shoukyuu Soudan, it would be impossible for me to stand up, regardless of any struggling throwing it off. However, even though I was hit by your Soudan, it shallowly lacked the exactness of the node.
Sou Reigen: Fu, how could you know about that………how could you understand Shoukyuu Soudan, said to be a secret among secrets…
Sou Reigen: What are you planning taking the Soudan from your body?
Momotarou: Let me teach you true Shoukyuu Soudan!!
Sou Reigen: !!
202.
Sou Reigen: Huh!!
Sou Reigen: Uo
Sou Reigen: That’s ridiculous. Th…that’s Shoukyuu Soudan………!!
203.
Sou Reigen: Guwa!!
Sou Reigen: It…can’t be: the 3rd successor of Shoukyuu Soudan is…………!!
Momotarou: This is an evil fist that mercilessly plays with a person’s life…I thought I wouldn’t ever have to use this in my life……………
Sou Reigen: Hi…Hii!! Sssssto…!!
Sou Reigen: Gugyaa~~~~!!
Momotarou: I can’t hold compassion for you. You should apologize to Dokugantetsu in hell.
(End of Vol. 11)
TN: It's really hard to say anything after witnessing a chapter like that. I guess most of it is due to Dokugantetsu...I said most of what I had to last time about him, but he really was a misunderstood character if you looked him over from the start to this end point. Some could probably say that all of his character development was rather sudden, but if you think about it it was always there: his caring nature was seen in the Chinjuu Corridor, his loyalty to his school when he and the others from his area (Henshouki, Baron Dino) pleaded with Jaki to fight in the Paaren Seiha. Just because someone isn't a constant focus like, say, the First-Years doesn't mean that they don't get developed...and it's seeing it all culminate with his sacrifice against Sou Reigen that makes it even more sad. We knew he had these, it just didn't seem so true until it was too late. Though I still have problems with that Hien fight, I'm going to miss the big guy. As for the other aspect of the chapter...well we knew from even the commentary that there was a 3rd Soukyuu Soudan user, but the fact that it was Momo...well, it's sort of hard to say. Some would say it's convenient, some would say it's just desserts to Sou Reigen...but in the end, remember that Momo does amazing things all the time so having him pick up something like this wouldn't be too much of a problem. (he just hates using it because, as he said, it kills people with play...and not to mention Sou Reigen is the only one with the ammo that can be used for said technique since Momo himself rather not have it) But I guess by having Momotarou know the Soudan technique and just not like it allows for it to remain unique and not just manipulated in every last one of his fights...that's fair enough. But hey, with Rouroukan finally completed...things are about to get really crazy!
