Chp. 113: Wonderful Technique: Tengai Shinten
163.
Centaur: That’s match.
Toramaru: He…Henshouki---!!
Togashi: He killed Henshouki---!!
164.-165.
THE 1ST OTOKOJUKU CHARACTER POPULARITY POLL ANNOUNCEMENTS!!

4th: J – 906 VOTES
5th: TOGASHI GENJI – 503 VOTES
6th: EDAJIMA HEIHACHI – 391 VOTES
7th: TORAMARU RYUUJI – 294 VOTES
8th: GEKKOU – 266 VOTES
9th: SENKUU – 202 VOTES
10th: DOKUGANTETSU – 158 VOTES
Total Number of Applicants: 13, 469
(TN: There really isn’t too much to say about the first Otokojuku poll results, considering the top four are essentially “the main character” (Momo), “the main bad-ass” (Date), “the bishonen” (Hien) and the “ass-kicker” (J). I’m a bit surprised Togashi made 5th but he was rather notable for being in the series for so long, let alone Edajima is only 6th aside from merely just destroying everyone and everything every single time! Happy though Gekkou and Senkuu made it and…I think that Dokugantetsu got good timing of dying around the time of the poll to make 10th. Personally wished Manjimaru and Raiden made it…let alone the lack of other notable powerhouses like Jaki, Akashi or Eikei, but…there’s so many characters it’s hard sometimes to keep up)
166.
Centaur: Unicorn’s horn has soundly gone through your heart. You were a bad opponent, Henshouki.
Henshouki: Guku!!
167.
Henshouki: …………………!!
Henshouki: My…friends…………!!
Toramaru: He…Henshouki…………!!
Henshouki: For…forgive me, for making you this way…………
Centaur: Fufu, I understand your feelings. In fighting many times with a beast, you have a relationship where you share life and death…we’re those who want to be together with them when we die.
Centaur: Go forth, Unicorn.
168.
Henshouki: Gua!!
Henshouki: Gugu, yo…you………!!
Centaur: It’s futile to sympathize with a loser; they can only die. My next match awaits. You should go to hell quickly.
Toramaru: Aah, how…cruel!! Wh…what he’s doing is---!
Togashi: Th…that guy doesn’t spill bl…blood or tears---!!
169.
Centaur: These remains of these bat-things in our way should be dealt with.
Henshouki: ……………………
Henshouki: I…I leave the rest to you, Gekkou…………yo…you’re the only one who…can win against them…………!!
Toramaru: Wh…what…………!!
Togashi: Ge…Gekkou……!?
Toramaru; HE…HENSHOUKI---!!
170.
Toramaru: !!
Gekkou: I understand. Sleep peacefully, Henshouki-dono: your regret will certainly be cleared by me.
Toramaru: Ge…Gekkou……!! It would be better to entrust this with me……………!!
171.
Toramaru: Bu…but, wh…what did he mean? Wh…why did Henshouki say Gekkou just before he died……!?
Date: I don’t know. But that man is the strongest man of the Sanmenken, who has mastered Chaku-ke-Ryuu Kenpou, said to be the ultimate peak of the many thousands of Chinese kenpou schools…!!
(TN: Reminder: “Chaku-ke Style” or “Chaku-ke-ryuu” = “Walk-School Style”)
Centaur: You’re Gekkou, as nominated by Henshouki. Though you may be facing me next, you do seem kind.
172.
Toramaru: Th…there it is: Gekkou’s favored Chaku-ke Konboujutsu!
(TN: Reminder: “Konboujutsu” = “Staff/Kon-Method Technique”)
Togashi: Lo…look---!! At…his kon-handling---!
Centaur: Well, so you use a kon? And you’re quite skilled too.
173.
Gekkou: A heretical opponent doesn’t have ears that hear or a mouth that speaks. Now, come at me.
Centaur: Haiya---!!
174.-175.
Centaur: Wha!?
Gekkou: CHAKU-KE: TENGAI SHINTEN!!
(TN: “Tengai Shinten” = “Cough-Following Needle Point”)|
Toramaru: Ooh, l…look---!!
Togashi: Gekkou has had the tip of his kon hold back the charge of the horse by hitting the tip of its horn---!!
Gekkou: You can’t move.
Centaur: Nuu, you, how could you have mastered the forsaken Tengai Shinten?
176.
Commentary:
Tengai Shinten…a forsaken technique whose etymology first appeared when the eyesight movements and mental concentration power for a human are trained upwards to their limits through the meeting of a moving needle and the tip of a fellow needle. Its practice method is by dropping a stone stuck with an iron needle in its center facing downwards from a height of 10m above ground and stopping it with an iron needle held in your mouth. Starting at first with a 5kg stone, you increase the weight little by little: those who comprehend it must be able to stop a 300kg stone.

Centaur: What’s wrong, Unicorn? Can’t you push him with the power you have!?
Gekkou: Let me tell you: my Chaku-ke Konboujutsu simply can’t merely be struck to be defeated!!
177.
Gekkou: Nu!!
178.
Centaur: Kuu!!
Toramaru: How…skilled, Gekkou!! You’ve knocked off Unicorn’s horn---!
Togashi: He applied the power of his opponent’s charge and the lever principle~~~!!
179.
Centaur: !?
Gekkou: Die, you stupid horse!!
180.
Centaur: Ha!!
181.
Gekkou: Next is your turn, Centaur. I will change into a fierce demon for this match due to the untimely death of Henshouki.
Centaur: It’s been five years since I’ve been on the ground.
Zeus: Fuffuffu, that Centaur is standing on the ground……the man called Gekkou…………you’re an unlucky person.
TN: I think the main concept we have to realize with the end of this chapter was that Henshouki (and likewise Gekkou) weren't fighting Centaur...they were fighting Centaur by way of Unicorn. The horse was the main means of fight and seemed very capable of defeating anyone, therefore preventing Centaur from doing anything but ride the reigns unless it came this far (see the end of the chapter) Of course, seeing Gekkou finally take care of Unicorn in such a cruel, sick manner...feels a tad strange but at the same time powerful. Heck, I even found it powerful in seeing that sad image of Henshouki reaching out and watching his bats burn to death as he is helplessly dying himself...though I never liked him, it was a poignant moment. (not as massive as, say, Dokugantetsu's final charge against Sou Reigen or Raiden's death against Henshouki that seemed so merciless...but it did give him a bit more character)
