As long as he can’t prevent the movement of the ball, Gekkou can’t win this.

Centaur: Fu, by personally moving higher than the iron pole, I’ve cut off your escape………………!! And yet, though you do understand that you can’t defend yourself from the power of the ball with your kon, what are you thinking?

Togashi: How…great: by supporting the kon with the iron pole, he stopped the ballistics of the soccer ball----!!

Centaur: I’ve got you: by fully understanding your strength, I didn’t think I was going to take you down with that standard.

Toramaru: That soccer ball that was stabbed by the kon has e…exploded~~~!!
Centaur: This is the true purpose of Sentou Shuukyuujutsu………………how does it feel to not see with your eyes!!
Momotarou: Huh, n…not see with his eyes………!?
Gekkou: Y…you……!!
Toramaru: GE…GEKKOU~~!!

TN: Only in Otokojuku...can soccer turn into such a deadly game! Yeah, I really have no idea (outside Miyashita's imagination) if Centaur's whole tale about the evolution of soccer was true, but like boxing and rugby before it, it has become one of those crazy "battle methods" you can only get away with in this series. (let alone seeing how it lead to that massive cliffhanger for the next volume) As sick as Centaur is, the factor that he was not just a battle genius but extremely tactical in figuring out how to kick the ball so well and where to kick it to make sure that Gekkou is the target shows that he knows what he's doing...even to the point of knowing his enemy had that big stick that can poke it and blind him! The beginning of the chapter, though, does show the massive difference that has been emphasized all match on the sympathies of the characters: Gekkou cares even about the dead Unicorn and wants to ease his suffering so he will die in peace, while Centaur derides him and is willing to behead him with a spiked soccer ball at first notice! Though ultimately his arrogance will come to bite him...but we'll see next time if that happens...and how!
