-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 115
Gekkou has defeated his steed and stopped his main battle style, but may have ultimately paid the price, becoming blinded by Centaur's nefarious set-up! Will Gekkou's sudden blindness turn out to be his ultimate downfall...or perhaps...
Vol. 13: The Destined Duo!!
Chp. 115: Secret Art: Mumyou Satsusoukan
7.
Toramaru: GE…GEKKOU~~!!
Toramaru: Ge…Gekkou’s eyes have been blinded~~~!! Wh…what a dirty guy for preparing a blinding object in the soccer ball~~~!!
Centaur: Fu…do you think there is such a word as “unfair” in a fight where you bet your life? There’s only one of two things: do you live or do you die……………!!
Centaur: It’s over. You’ve lost, Gekkou!!
8.
(Title Page…somehow the full moon is going to probably play a role in this…or it’s just symbolizing the fact that “Gekkou” is “Moonlight” in Japanese)
9.
Toramaru: Ge…Gekkou’s going to get killed---!!
Togashi: I can’t just watch this with my fingers in my mouth anymore!! We’re coming now, Gekkou---!
Momotarou: Put it aside, you’re needlessly worrying.
Toramaru: Wh…what’s that, Momo~~~!!
Momotarou: Why was Gekkou nominated at Henshouki’s dying moment when he was killed by Centaur…………!!
Togashi: Huh?
Momotarou: The answer will become clear now!!
Centaur: Die---!!
10.
Gekkou: CHAKU-KE: TENGAI SHINTEN!!
Centaur: HUH!!
Centaur: Wh…what!?
11.
Centaur: Ku!!
Centaur: Nu!!
12.
Centaur: Kee!!
Centaur: Wh…what is this………!?
13.
Togashi: Wh…what’s going on here!? That forsaken Tengai Shinten is attacking without giving up its terrifying tone.
Toramaru: How can he move without seeing with his eyes~~~~!!
Centaur: Yo…you can’t be, y…you’re………!?
Gekkou: Yes, you’ve finally realized it.
Gekkou: My eyes can’t see by nature: it’s quite absurd to blind me!!
14.
Toramaru: Wh…what…………!! I…didn’t know that---!
Togashi: Gekkou can’t see with his eyes……!!
Date: He’s an amazing man…he’s mastered a kenpou to that extent while being blind.
Momotarou: Therefore Henshouki, who knew that matter, chose Gekkou to fight on this dark night.
Gekkou: Though my eyes cannot see, I have keened eyes in my heart. Let me show you: the greatest and ultimate Secret Art of Chaku-ke-Style Kenpou!!
Centaur: Hmm
15.
Centaur: !?
Centaur: Wh…what………!?
Centaur: ……………………
Centaur: UH!!
16.
Centaur: ………………………
Centaur: Fufu, what are you intending with this!? If you’re thinking of something, this mere Go stone…………means nothing even if I take this!!
Gekkou: Correct: it is merely a black Go stone. But can you avoid them?
Centaur: Fu, what are you joking about!!
17.
Centaur: You were planning to embarras me by aiming them to fall from over my head, but if I move my body even a bit, then…
Centaur: That…was a fluke………!!
Toramaru: Wh…what’s going on with this---!?
Togashi: Though Centaur had moved, the stone fell and hit him, like as if the point was predicted----!!
18.
Gekkou: I’ll show you if it was a fluke or not!!
19.
Centaur: Fu, how’s that? This is the taijutsu that I possess. Can those Go stones come to fall at me from this point!!
Centaur: Fufufu…
Centaur: ………………!!
Gekkou: Do you see whether this was an accident or not? This is CHAKU-KE OUGI: MUMYOU SATSUSOUKAN!!
(TN: “Mumyou Satsusoukan” = “Darkness Judging Interplay”)
20.
Commentary:
Mumyou Satsusoukan…known as the ultimate secret technique within the three-thousand history of Chinese Kenpou. Its characteristic, as stated these days, is the practical use of the laws of behavioral psychologist Keppel to perfectly predict an opponent’s movement. Keppel’s Law is: when a human is trapped in a situation of psychological pressure under a certain uniform conditions, they take a completely identical behavioral pattern, regardless of age, sex, intelligence or personality.
This can apply to animals other than humans: for example, when a mouse is released into a maze created within a box and presented a certain stimulus, all mice run from place to place by taking the same route. Presently there is a kenpou that can practically apply this ultimate peak of psychological theory, but there’s no wonder that it already exists.
-From “Chinese Kenpou: It’s Scientific Nature”, Minmei Publishing
Gekkou: This terror is called “terror”: you now are similar to a mouse that’s lost in a maze. So then, what will happen if I switched those Go stones with a kon with this spear tip attached?
Centaur: Kuu………
Gekkou: You should know that it’s useless wherever you run. That says nothing of not being able to see this kon as it falls in a straight line from the jet-black darkness.
21.
Gekkou: HA!!
Centaur: Muu!!
22.
Centaur: Hmm!!
Centaur: …………………!!
Centaur: I can use the workhorse that I came here with again!!
23.
Toramaru: Wh…what~~~!! That Centaur defended from the kon by holding the head of his dead horse overhead~~~~!!
Centaur: Fufu…
Centaur: Even if you have Mumyou Satsusoukan, you couldn’t predict that.
Gekkou: Mumyou Satsusoukan isn’t shallow like that. You should look closely to see if it was my kon or not.
Centaur: Wha!!
Centaur: Th…that’s Unicorn’s h…horn---!!
24.
Gekkou: MUMYOU SATSUSOUKAN: SOUYOKUHAN…………!! You were preoccupied with the horn I threw first; you really didn’t pay attention to the kon that I threw after.
(TN: “Souyokuhan” = “Pair of Capsizing Wings”)
Centaur: Wh…what………!!
Centaur: GUAA----!!
25.
Centaur: You’re…a dreadful man, Gekkou………!!
Gekkou: Trash!! This was an appropriate means of death for you! Now you can rest peacefully, Henshouki-dono………!!
TN: It all makes perfect sense. Looking back on many things, particularly since the Paaren Seiha arc (not sure if it was ready by the Kyoura Daiyon Kyousatsu), we could have seen the clues coming: the fact that his battle style stands for "walk", the fact that his main weapon is a staff/kon, that his name was tied to an element of the night...but now that Miyashita has finally revealed the truth on Gekkou and the fact that he's blind, it all becomes perfectly clear that this revelation in this chapter wasn't merely coincidence or just something he thought would be weird or cool to make one week! It's just something like that which makes you understand how great some mangaka are in hiding foreshadowing right under your noses until it finally is revealed...and then it perfectly makes sense like it should have been all along! At the same time, his "Mumyou Satsusoukan" technique just felt rather weird considering that the only way to truly master it is to perfectly have a realization of how a person would react and thinking that the situations would be correct for them to pull it off. We can probably gather that Gekkou may have enhanced senses without sight, but to pull that off on Centaur...well, it does make sense from series standpoint but you sort of wonder if it was all psychology or merely partially psychology and partially sensory perception that allowed for him to finally win. Then again, the second in command is down, meaning that probably no one else on Olympus matters aside from Zeus...but we'll see what happens with them next time!
