Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 118
The Treasure of Olympus!!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 118
Bonded by an unending rivalry and the poison of a deadly serpent, Jaki and Zeus have begun their final showdown, where anything goes in breaking their unending deadlock! But how far will one go to show superiority to the other!?
Chp. 118: The Treasure of Olympus!!
67.
Zeus: Nuu!!
Jaki: Ha!!
68.
(Title Page…yeah, I guess until it ends, we’ll be seeing a lot of Jaki and Zeus)
69.
Zeus: Kuu!!
Jaki: Ooh!!
70.
Toramaru: A…mazing!!
Togashi: Neither Zeus or Jaki aren’t retreating back even a bit!! This is a fierce match!
Momotarou: Their power really is 50/50. As is, the snake poison for the Snake Blood Contract is going through their bodies and they’re hitting each other simultaneously…!!
(TN: Sort of wondering what the “simultaneously striking each other” part is referring to Jaki and Zeus hitting each other…or if it has to do with the simultaneous processing of the poison killing one another. As is, I made it the former due to the “hitting” part as if it was in connection to the Jaki/Zeus fight)
71.
Zeus: Mu!!
Jaki: !!
Toramaru: Wh…what!? What’s going on!!
Togashi: That storm until now has stopped like it was a lie and the sky is suddenly becoming sunny---!!
72.
Zeus: You’ve lost, Jaki. At any rate, this match has even the heavens wishing for my victory.
Jaki: ……………………
Zeus: Delphi!!
Delphi: Right---!!
73.
Delphi: Here…it is!!
Toramaru: Wh…what is that oldie: he’s brought out another box!!
Togashi: That seems to have great importance too!!
Delphi: This is the sacred battle treasure handed down for a time-honored three-thousand years in our Olympus. Kuku, you lucky man, you’re being presented this sort of honorable death.
Delphi: Well, Zeus-sama!!
Zeus: Yes.
74.
Jaki: Muu!!
Toramaru: Wh…what are those strange-shaped weapons~~~!!
Togashi: It’s…as if they’re shining strangely like they’re diamond----!!
75.
Zeus: OLYMPUS: SHINING GOD HANDS
Delphi: Fu, these Shining God Hands are made out of Orichalcum. You too have once heard the name of the legendary Orichalcum: it is a super-alloy said to have been used by the legendary city of Atlantis, which had established a reputation of being one of the great civilizations that exceeds even our own, though it has sunk to the depths of the ocean over eight-thousand years ago. Its hardness is many times that of diamond…a stronger material doesn’t exist in this world!
(TN: Not really going to dispute the words, but many legends and commentary stated that Atlantis actually sunk nine-thousand years ago…thus why I added the “over” comment)
Jaki: What’s wrong with what you’re saying? It won’t mean a thing whether it’s Orichalcum or anything if they don’t hit me.
Zeus: Correct: if they were merely just hard, they wouldn’t even replace a stone on the roadside. However, this Orichalcum has one more characteristic. I’ll show you that now.
76.
Zeus: Let’s go!!
Zeus: Haa!!
Jaki: !!
77.
Jaki: Ah!!
Jaki: Gua!!
78.
Toramaru: Ja…Jaki~~~!!
Togashi: Wh…what: a terrifying light shot out from his fist now~~~!!
Zeus: Fufu, do you understand: the terror of these Shining God Hands?
Zeus: Orichalcum has a characteristic of reflecting sunlight and firing it at a streak of intense light. Therefore with its dazzle, it’s impossible to see.
79.
Zeus: Even if you move your location and prevent the light’s reflection, it’s futile. As long as there is sunlight, Orichalcum reacts, focuses and amplifies it, no matter how little there is.
Jaki: KU!!
80.
Zeus: Now there’s no hope for you: with these God Hands, I can call forth the heavens.
81.
Jaki: Nuga!!
Toramaru: At…at this rate, Jaki will be killed---!!
82.
Zeus: Die!! It’s over---!
Zeus: !!
83.
Togashi: G…great: he covered Zeus’ hands with his cape, intercepting the light---!!
Toramaru: Now’s your chance!! Go—Jaki--!
Jaki: HAA!!
Jaki: Uh!!
84.
Toramaru: Ja…Jaki~~~!!
Zeus: Fu, you fool. It’s easy enough to emit a high temperature and burn your cape if I focus with this much sunlight.
Zeus: That’s the match, Jaki.
85.
Jaki: Wh…who are you saying that to……………
Jaki: M…my name is Daigouin Jaki…………Head of the Third-Years…the man called “The Emperor of Otokojuku”.
TN: It is interesting to think that in a series like Otokojuku, whoever seems to have the best, most powerful or most creative weapon easily has the advantage. But as we've seen through the series, and once again in this chapter, just because you have the toys doesn't mean it's everything that it seems. While I'm not really the best person to talk about the myths and legends of Atlantis (since there are so many now), I really can't say if everything about the Orichalcum-made Shining God Hands is as explained outside "Otokojuku lore". But what I found so cool about this chapter is that Zeus relied on them not for their deadly attacks or for their supposed-hardness...but for their nature in regards to using the sun to enhance their usage. In that way, it allowed for him to catch Jaki off guard, who would have dodged them if they were just merely weird-shaped gauntlets (which...they are) by both the reflective nature to block his eyes for the attack and even burning his cape! But of course in these types of fights, any advantage can be key...and it's not like Jaki is done for yet either.
