With a wave of his hand and a few well-stocked tricks, Baron Dino has prestidigitated his way around Ryouzanpaku's Suiketsu...but for how long can these illusionary feats hold off against a skilled (and drunk) martial artist!?

Chp. 175: The Great Magic of the Era

129.
Togashi: You’re surprising, oldie Dino!! I…really thought that you’d been lopped off with that cut neck. I’m sure certain that he did that with some waxwork!!
Toramaru: E…even so, you…amazingly switched it unawaringly!! What…amazingly quick work!!
Baron Dino: Fufufu: sleight of hand, magic and sorcery uses the blind spots of human vision, outwitting their minds. These have been perfected as dreaded murdering techniques and now even the art is referred to as Hell Magic.

130.
(Title page…and now for the next trick: proving Suiketsu and Ryouzanpaku as the frauds they are!)

131.
Suiketsu: Fu, that really is brilliant handling. But are you still using those cards?
Suiketsu: I should have taught you already that you can’t use those on me.
Baron Dino: No, card magic is the thing that should be the basis of all magic. There are many kinds of techniques with just these, an infinite variety.
Baron Dino: For example, how about this?

132.
Baron Dino: HA!!
Suiketsu: Is there something wrong with you?
Suiketsu: I’ll brush them away again with this flag that is weaved of Rakken Cloth.
(TN: “Rakken Cloth” or “Rakkenbu” = “Bitter Silk Cloth”; “Kenbu” is also “Silk” but I called it “Rakken Cloth” because that was how it is read with the combination of the first two kanji)
Suiketsu: Mu!!

133.
Suiketsu: Ooh!!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! The cards thrown by Dino flared up part way, making Suiketsu’s flag catch fire---!!
Baron Dino: HMPH!!

134.
Suiketsu: Ku!!
Horse: Hihi—n!!

135.
Toramaru: He…did it---!! He…defeated Suiketsu’s horse and th…that guy has finally dragged that guy down to the ground---!
Togashi: You’ve done it, Dino…no, Dino-senpai, I’ve got a better opinion of you.
Toramaru: Even so, they have tremendous power, those Solingen Cards---!!
Baron Dino: By nature, a person who is a magician is one who never reveals their secrets, but I will specially inform you.
Baron Dino: The reason is that there was a volatile oil that ignites even with the friction of air lacquered on those cards. At any rate, you had established the strength of your Rakken Cloth, but it’s a thing that isn’t above being easily burned.
Suiketsu: Fufu, dear, your party tricks are fun to liven up my drinking. Now I’ll be showing you a thing.
(TN: The expression that Suiketsu gives about Baron Dino’s magic is “sake no sakana ni”; the “sakana” here is “a performance that livens up a party”; thus since Suiketsu was drinking so much, Dino’s magic livened up his personal drinking…well as opposed to an entire drinking party of…one)
Baron Dino: Wh…what: pa…party tricks……!!

136.
Suiketsu: These are Chisenben, one of the weapons transmitted down in great numbers to our Ryouzanpaku. The way that they are used is peculiar.
(TN: “Chisenben” = “Ground-Digging Whip”)
Baron Dino: !?
Suiketsu: Nun!!
Baron Dino: Hu~~h!?

137.
Baron Dino: What exactly is your pretense with those!? You drove your long-awaited whips underground………!!
Baron Dino: Don’t you get it? These whips are Jizaiben, which are manipulated with a will through one movement of the hand. They hide themselves underground and attack the enemy!!
(TN: “Jizaiben” = “Move-at-Will Whip”)
Baron Dino: Huh……!?
Baron Dino: Ha!!

138.
Baron Dino: Guwa!!
Togashi: Wh…what is…that—
Toramaru: The…edge of the whips flew out from the ground---!!
Baron Dino: ……!!
Suiketsu: Sorya---!!

139.
Baron Dino: Gaha!!
Baron Dino: Nuu!!
Suiketsu: These Chisenben are expandable: you can never escape from them!!

140.
Baron Dino: Uh!?
Baron Dino: Na!?
Baron Dino: Guku!! Th…these are……!!
Baron Dino: My…legs are……!!
Togashi: Wh…what---!?
Toramaru: Di…Dino’s legs are fixed to the ground by the tips of the whips----!!

141.
Suiketsu: You can get up many times, but it’s impossible to escape from that condition.
Suiketsu: You’re an oldie I can’t detest with bad thoughts, but with this a match, this can’t be helped.
Baron Dino: ………!!
Suiketsu: As thanks for showing me your interesting art, I’ll send you to that world instantly with this.
Baron Dino: Nu!!
Toramaru: Uoo--!! He’s going to finish him offf with that stupidly-huge shuriken-like thing----!!
Suiketsu: Enma in Hell should be delighted in your sleight of hand!!

142.
Toramaru: DI…DINO---!!
Suiketsu: MU!?

143.
Baron Dino: Gugya!!
Suiketsu: Fu: he built up a smokescreen as his last wicked mischief………!!

144.
Toramaru: Di…Dino’s been killed---!!
Togashi: E…even so, he’s…in that cruel form split in two---!!
Suiketsu: Fu, you weren’t my match after all. Well, Otokojuku, you should send out my next competition opponent.
Suiketsu: ……!!

145.
Baron Dino: Fufu, were you worried after all?
Suiketsu: !!
Baron Dino: That there was a chance this was the same as my head earlier…that this too wouldn’t be a waxwork…
Suiketsu: Y…you……!!
Baron Dino: Right, that you can’t do without ascertaining is this thing called the human mentality. But magic is a thing that outwits the human mentality, as it should be.

146.
Baron Dino: I’VE CAUGHT YOU: THIS IS MIRACLE CUTTER!!
(TN: Unlike Dino’s last few, this one requires a bit more of our typical means to translate from the kanji aside from the English it already is. In this case, the kanji translates fully to: “Dizzying Demon-Cutting Technique” or “Demon Cutting Magic”)
Suiketsu: HUH!!
Suiketsu: GEHA!!

147.
Suiketsu: Stu…stupid, ho…how……!?
Baron Dino: I shall tell you.
Baron Dino: The moment I built the smokescreen and instantly obstructed your field of vision, I pretended to have been severed; my lower half, which became a cast-off skin, was left above ground and I appeared above ground as just my upper-half. Yes, of course that blood was just a bag of chicken blood that I rolled into my abdomen.
Baron Dino: My name is Baron Dino. People call me Hell’s Magician.

TN: I know what people are probably going to say: how long can people keep falling for these illusions of Dino's? Well...I rather have these types of illusions compared to what we see in other shonen. It's easy to zap out a magic eyeball or cast a "spell" that makes you instantly fall for a trick. But to pull what Dino is doing for his fight takes a lot more skill and a lot of brains. Then again...Suiketsu running around with whips that tie you up underground is a strange feat in itself.

THIS IS HILARIOUS! HAHAAHA! Oww maaan - "My name is Baron Diino. People call me hell's magician!!!" Come on i can't take this guy seriously... No matter how hard he tries... He might be able to pull out a cow out of his ass, but i still won't respect him... Seriously this is the worst/funniest char :D.

Dino v2 is much cooler than "Dino the gym trainer" or "Dino the animal trainer"...

I really hope that Miyashita won't decide all of a sudden to make Dino the strongest char (well who knows... he's the second character that was drastically changed, at least his fighting style).

If that's the case why didn't he use the smoke bomb earlier??? So the new chinese guy can look strong and wound him???

I didn't understand the part with the head... So he basically shrunk his own head and then used a fake one and then after the fake one was cut he unshrunk his real head?

Btw when do manga authors confirm the colours of their chars? When i was reading Guyver i think the info that was given about colours was when a new volume was out and the reader was able to see the cover in colour. So what's the official colour of Dino? In the anime he wears pink clothes...
