Tamamo's pursuit of Nube has taken a different meaning: not merely defeating the teacher...but discovering the source of his power increase when protecting the students! Unfortunately, he's not the only one targeting the teacher...

(TN: Nube mentions two different historical references here which we will get further into in the next page or so. But as a cliff notes for us:
-Prince Naka-no-Oue, or "Naka-no-Oue-no Ouji", is the name of the eventual Emperor Tenji, the 38th emperor of Japan between 661 (as regent emperor) and 672. He is the most notable for removing the Soga clan from influence of the emperor position, as well as setting up "The Oumi Code", considered the first legal code in Japan
-Nakatomi no Kamatari is also known "Fujiwara no Kamatari": a major supporter of Naka-no-Oue as Emperor Tenji, he protected the Japanese court from any influence of the growing religious influence in the nation of Buddhism and was eventually given this clan name for his people. He is also notable as the founder of the Fujiwara clan, who would ultimately be tied to all three of the future unifiers of Japan: Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu)

Tamamo: The Taika Reformation was in 645. 794 was Heian-Kyo! Furthermore, Emishi and Iruka weren't brothers, they were father and son!
(TN: Well we got even more historical references that need to be explained now that they're all done:
-The Taika Reformation, which did occur in 645/646 as Tamamo did mention, was the uniting of Naka no Oue, Nakatomi no Katamari and the Emperor Koutoku in the defeat of the Soga clan and the uniting of various factions together to a more united Japan, leading to changes in Japanese rule where the ruler of Japan would be the emperor as opposed to a clan leader.
-Soga no Emishi (the father) and Soga no Iruka (the son) were the influencial leaders of the Soga clan who held massive influence under various emperesses such as Suiko and Kougyoku. It was through their deaths that the Taika Reformation could take hold.
-Heian-Kyo of 794 is the movement of the Japanese capital from Nara to Kyoto, effectively being the turning point from the "Nara period" to the "Heian" period of Japanese history)

Tamamo: If you don't defeat Remugyo by sunset...THE EGGS WILL HATCH AND THESE CHILDREN WILL BE DEVOURED...!

TN: First of all...yeah it's the weekend here still, but I am going to be busy the next few days and I have no idea when I'll get back to this. So this should be enough for the moment in the Nube department.

Now as for the chapter...well, there goes Kuukyo. Yeah, I know he really wasn't much a rival compared to how Tamamo was, but he did show up first. He wasn't very good at anything but he does have seniority before...exploding to bits with the summoning of Remugyo. Yeah served him right but I guess it's just sentimentalism for the idiot. (and no, we won't see his master either after this chapter) Meanwhile...can someone please wipe the image of Nube rubbing Ishikawa-sensei from my consciousness!? Not only was that a cruel trick but just...ewwwww. That wasn't just a trap...it was just...just...

Remugyo itself is a rather brainless monster and it seems more or less a means to have Tamamo test Nube...to tell the truth it was alright but it seemed more an impetus for Tamamo's test than any real threat. But at least we got the next chapter...unless Nube screws up Japanese history again.
