Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 189
The Man Who Talks to Shadows!!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 189
He may have defeated his opponent but questions remain: is Shoukaku really just some hired gun...or is he actually Otokojuku student Eikei in disguise!? And...how will Ryouzanpaku handle this latest setback!?
Chp. 189: The Man Who Talks to Shadows!!
47.
Toramaru: H…he’s done it…………!! Sho…Shoukaku won……!
Togashi: He’s…an amazing guy: he…he caused a self-destruction by underhanding his opponent’s technique……………!!
Toramaru: L…look: he’s coming up to here.
Togashi: Wi…with this, we finally ca…can find out his true identity~~~~~!!
Date: ………!!
48.
(Title page…so…will we find it out?)
49.
Shoukaku: Fufu, what an fine welcome.
Toramaru: ………!!
Momotarou: Well, enough with that mask already.
Momotarou: We know. You’re Eikei-senpai, commander of the Otokojuku Shitennou…!!
50.
Shoukaku: Fu: I plan on saying the same thing many times.
Shoukaku: My name is Shoukaku. I’m a pro helper hired with money from the principal of Otokojuku, Edajima Heihachi!!
Momotarou: …………
Toramaru: A…pro helper h…hired with money………!?
Shoukaku: My job is done here. I shall be going.
Momotarou: You’re lying. I don’t know what the circumstances are, but you are lying.
51.
Momotarou: A man doesn’t bet their life for money!! There’s just one moment a man bets their life…!! That is just the moment they protect the most important thing to themselves!!
Momotarou: This was proven by your battle: this struggle to the death is a thing that would never occur for money!!
Shoukaku: Fufu: I’m a pro. I’m merely devoted to my business……!! That’s just all.
Toramaru: He…he’s going……………!!
Togashi: I…guess we…had a misunderstanding after all……!!
52.
Shoukaku: !!
Shoukaku: ………!!
53.
Jaki: Hold on.
Jaki: You’re unconsciously avoiding my shadow without stepping on it, Eikei.
Shoukaku: Ha!!
Shoukaku: Fu: We…well then, what exactly does that mean? Not stepping on a shadow doesn’t surpass mere chance………………!!
Jaki: I am Daigouin Jaki, Head of Otokojuku Third-Years!! Do you think you can deceive my eyes!!
54.
Jaki: Well fine………I haven’t heard of what alias you’ve taken from old-man Edajima and why you’ve hidden your true identity…………!!
Jaki: You should go……But don’t forget!! Even if our bodies are separated, our souls will always be one under the flag of Otokojuku!!
Jaki: He’s treating us badly. He’s not sharing in the joy of reunion with allies without even revealing his true identity………!!
55.
Old-Man: Wh…what can I say……even that Houketsu has……!!
Old-Man: Y…you brats of Otokojuku.
56.
Old-Man: Uuh: they’re…ugly, th…this is absolutely ugly---!! It’s…it’s best that we have some excuse to the master when they arrive from behind on this situation----!!
Mustache: Fufu: you’ve grown senile, old-man. What are you getting into this panic for?
Old-Man: Wh…what’s that~~~!!
Eye Patch: The battle history of our Otokojuku, which has come to control this Tenchou Gorin Daibukai three consecutive times in the past, has often had a degree of this dilemma. But we’ve come to entirely bounce back from them……………with the power of “that man”………………!!
Old-Man: Th…that man…………!?
Old-Man: Ye…yes: we’re sp…speaking of that person!! Bu…but, that person is together with the master……!!
“Voice”: It seems you were mistaken on that.
Old-Man: Huh…!!
57.
Old-Man: Ooh!!
Old-Man: Th…that’s Ryouzanpaku’s Vice-Head: General Soukou-sama---!!
(TN: I know I’m making a big deal about names again, but while the “shogun” part of the general from the recent Minmei entry seemed more emphasizing he was a general, the “shogun” here is a tad more questionable considering that he’s has “shogun” in his name but isn’t the leader. Later though we do find out it's a title so...I'm just going with "Soukou" or “General Soukou”)
58.
Soukou: You should be relieved: there is still time until the master arrives. During that time, I will strike an end to this battle…………!!
Toramaru: Ho…however, that man called Shoukaku appeared like the wind and left like the wind.
Togashi: Yep, he’s as if he’s a Gekkou Kamen-like guy.
(TN: I mentioned prior but “Gekkou Kamen” is an early Japanese live-action hero)
Momotarou: Fufu: anyhow, there should come a time where we know everything………!!
Hien: Look: it seems that’s Ryouzanpaku’s new enemy.
Toramaru: Wh…what---!!
59.
Toramaru: Tha…that’s an oldie with extremely greatly appearance.
Togashi: And behind him is…….!?
60.
Toramaru: Wh…what are…those~~~!!
Togashi: St…strangely-shaped rolling balls are going down the rope-ladder and going towards the battleground----!!
61.
Soukou: Let me show you: the many things of Ryouzanpaku’s Ichijin Senriku Heihou……!!
(TN: “Ichijin Senriku Heihou” = “Vanguard Thousand-Kill Army Method”)
Old-Man: Ooh: it’s the guardian god of the Ryouzanpaku troops; it’s strongest soldier: General Soukou…………!! In front of you, even Shouki (a fierce god greater than Chinese legend) cries and beg for his life.
(TN: According to legend, “Shouki” is a demon-slayer god who protects against demons and is in particular the protector of male heirs to the throne of China)
62.-63.
Toramaru: Wh…what exactly is going on: those rolling balls are setting up on the battleground……………!!
Date: Don’t you understand yet? Peel away your eyes and look closer.
Toramaru: Aah~~~!?
Toramaru: WH…WHAT~~~!! TH…THERE ARE PEOPLE WI…WITHIN THOSE STRANGE IRON BALLS~~~!
64.
Soukou: Informing the daredevils of Otokojuku!! I don’t care about your numbers!! You should become a group and come at me……………!
S. Shogun: I will show you hell to all of you in a true battle.
Hien: It seems he’s giving merely a bluff.
Momotarou: Umu.
Voice: Finally, an appropriate opponent has appeared for me.
Togashi & Toramaru: !?
65.
Togashi & Toramaru: A…AKASHI!! HEAD OF THE OTOKOJUKU SECOND-YEARS, AKASHI GOUJI----!
Akashi: Interesting: won’t you show me this hell…………!!
TN: One major rule learned from this chapter: you may fool Momo and most of the school with a weird headband for a "disguise"...but you can't fool Jaki one bit. Whether it's just by experience or just by being essentially Otokojuku's emperor (what being the Third-Years leader and all), it is obvious he of all people would know Eikei closer than the rest and knew he would pull that Shoukaku bit...for some reason or another. Maybe he didn't quite know the whole story, but that's why Jaki said what he said and just let him belligerently keep his distance even with the victory and how lonesome Eikei has decided to go with this current structure. Though...I do find it a tad strange that even if Momo figured it out (sort of), Eikei would still fool him by saying "I do this for money that Edajima gave me". We know what the Otokojuku way is...and of course hopefully Eikei will give the full story soon enough. Meanwhile...I sort of hope Soukou Shogun really is the challenge Akashi was looking for...considering how the mooks back with Pooron Kokurenju turned out to the Zanganken master!
