-"Sonnou Joi" is an expression during the end of the Tokugawa shogunate leading up to the Meiji Restoration, proclaiming an end to the shogun control and the restoration of the Emperor. It's literal expression stands for "revere the emperor, expell the barbarians", usually in reference to the Westerners who were coming into Japan thanks to the ignorance and deals by the shogunate after 1853
-"Grudge Knife" was originally in Japanese "Ju-on Knife", with "Ju-on" literally standing for "curse grudge" but merely just kept "grudge" here sort of due to how the movie "Ju-On" was merely translated in the US as "The Grudge" and is in reference to a grudge curse)

TN: Is it so much to ask for a clip of the original "Shining Finger"? I know, I have the G Gundam DVDs hidden away in my room (it's just an epic series, I admit that), but trying to find a way to do that last bit near the end with the G Gundam reference wouldn't really let me have the time to go with that...then again I think it was more a Burning Finger reference so no hard feeling. Anyway, while sometimes I do think there are a bit too many random cultural references, this chapter really was a great re-introduction to Tennosuke, allowing him to fight, fail miserably...and then have Bo-bobo's group take care of the rest. He never really was that good on his own, huh? (well unless it was tofu but that's a personal grudge) Personally I sort of wished we got a bit more with the four Nagoya gourmets or maybe this was split into a couple chapters...but therein lies one of the major problems with this phase of Bo-bobo: I don't know if this chapter was meant to be short (considering how long the next few chapters will be) or meant to be longer...but Sawai under pressure with the beginning of the "sinkingness". Somehow it just makes me imagine how this chapter would have turned out had this been the original Bo-bobo...or whether the Nagoya Brothers really are worth being called the "True F-Block Leaders" aside from beating up on the local punching bag.
