Have you ever forgotten anything...while we tend to forget many things, some are much worse than others. Take Makoto, who may not be the best with his memory, but that is before receiving an artifact that may finally help...or harm him.

Nube: Well~~you can do a feat of using up one “Forgotten Things Notebook” in only a week.
(TN: A tradition in some Japanese schools is the “Wasuremonochou” or “Forgotten Things Notebook”. As evident here, it is a book usually where a person writes down things they forgotten in an attempt to improve memory and organization in the culprit)
SFX: PARA PARA PARA (FLIP FLIP FLIP)

Nube: How could there be a person like you in all of Japan; no, the entire universe, Makoto!
SFX: PON PON
Students: AHAHAHAHA…
Makoto: Th…they don’t have Forgotten Things Notebooks through the universe…

132.
Hiroshi: Real—ly, many things are forgotten by Makoto—
Kyouko: How about properly looking and putting it on a timetable?
Nube: Oh well; by the way, you ddi bring something like a handkerchief or toilet paper without forgetting it.
Makoto: Ah, if I did, then I’d really…huh?
Makoto: Aah, I forgot to put on my trousers!
Students: AHAHAHAHAHA
Boy: He forgot~~typical~~
Girl: Eww~~pervert!
Narrator: At any rate, Makoto is a genius at forgetting things.
Makoto: I’m sorry, let me look.
“Black Hair”: Again!?
Makoto: Lend it, lend it.
Katsuya: My manga won’t be loaned out for three months.
Makoto: I’m sorry, I’m sorry.

133.
Makoto: Uh~~why do I forget many things like this? I came to fill up my Forgotten Things Notebook again.
Student 1: He—y, where are we taking these old desks?
SFX: GATA GATA
Sign: Storage Room
Student 2: To the trash storehouse.
Student: Really, it’s such trouble to sort through this storage room—huh--!
SFX: BASA
Book: FORGOTTEN THINGS NOTEBOOK – 5-2: YOSHIOKA SHINSUKE

SFX: BERI
Makoto: …Well, that’s only so.
Makoto: It isn’t stupid to replace my notebook and I have this.
Sign: KURITA
Makoto: N~~mutter mutter…I won’t forget tomorrow—
(TN: “Mutter mutter” is merely the onomotopeia of “munyamunya” in Japanese, but Makoto is merely just muttering something we can’t understand)
SFX: PARA…PARA…PARA…
SFX: SHUU…SHUU--…

135.
SFX: KARI KARI KARI KARI KARI KARI KARI KARI

Makoto: Right, the arithmetic notebook; I was doing homework in the living room yesterday…
Makoto: Wood bond: I was making a model yesterday…
Makoto: Mama, my lunch apron…
Mrs. Kurita: Ara, you forgot? I washed it.

137.
Makoto: AMAZING. THIS NOTEBOOK WRITES DOWN FORGOTTEN THINGS BEFORE I FORGET THEM…
Narrator: Several days later
Nube: Um—with that, will you present the homework you were given a week ago—
Voices: EH~~I FORGOT THAT~~
SFX: BAN
Nube: Oh, you’ve come to not forget things lately—
Makoto: It’s my efficiency, efficiency! (EHHEH!) (to himself) Hehe—the strange thing about that is I’ve had written the forgotten things of that day in the Forgotten Things Notebook when I wake up every morning.

138.
Nube: Hee—you’re being told your forgotten things in a notebook you found? (That’s dumb…)
Makoto: That’s—right: it’s a mysterious magic notebook.
Principal: Well well, that’s an extremely old notebook.
Makoto: Mr. Principal.
Principal: That notebook or another was a school designation from when I came to take charge of this school 20 years ago…
Principal: YOSHIOKA SHINSUKE? Th…this is…
Makoto: Do you know? This child…
Principal: This child was a student in my class and the most forgetful person in the school 20 years ago.
Makoto: Hee! Then he’s the same as me.
Makoto: I’m certain this child’s feelings of not wanting to forget things presented a mysterious power to this notebook.
Principal: Ah, Makoto-kun.
Nube: What’s wrong, principal…?

139.
Principal: That child…Yoshioka-kun was going home from school 20 years ago and became missing. They discovered just one shoe in a nearby river…
Nube: What did you say!?
Principal: Perhaps he fell into the river somewhere but…his corpse was never discovered…pitiful…
Nube: Why would this child’s notebook be with Makoto…?
SFX: CHIKON CHIKON
Makoto: U—m, today’s forgotten things are my homework, my gym clothes and my language textbook. Fufu, thanks to this notebook, I’m having fun putting my property into my bag. N?
Makoto: What’s this: my tooth?

140.
Makoto: That’s something I don’t get, but well, that’s fine. (I’M GOI—NG!)
SFX: GACHA
Car: Express Service
(TN: “Express Service” is “Takuhaibin”, which is specifically an express delivery service)
SFX: DOKA
Makoto: GUE!!
Driver: I…I’m sorry: are you aright?
Makoto: Gugugu…
SFX: GORO…
Makoto: Forgotten Thing…Makoto-kun’s tooth…Makoto-kun’s tooth…

141.
Makoto: This has become somewhat a bad feeling. Should I consult the teacher? But without this notebook, I’d forget things again…I’m worried…it’s a dilemma.
Nube: Makoto.
Makoto: Teacher.
Nube: Can’t I borrow that notebook for a bit?
Makoto: N…no: this is important to me…
Nube: Hm—m, well, if you disagree, then that’s particularly fine but…perhaps it may be possessed by a frightening—spirit.
Makoto: If you say it like that, then I’ll give you just the 6 pages that were used by the prior child.
SFX: RIP RIP

142.
Nube: Hm—m…it’s a notebook with nothing particular I can pick as strange but
Nube: What: the last page is stuck…
SFX: BURI
Voice 1: It’s rain!
Voice 2: Yet it was clear in the weather forecast!
Makoto: Hehe—it was good that I brought a folding umbrella due to “umbrella” being written in the notebook. This notebook is convenient after all; I can’t part with it.
Makoto: This morning with the tooth I’m certain was a warning to be careful. This notebook is my ally.

143.
SFX: PARA
SFX: GYO

SFX: ZA—ZA—
SFX: ZA—ZA—

144.
Makoto: I…I feel that someone is following…I should have spoken to teacher…this notebook…is strange…
SFX: ZA—
Makoto: Hi—so…someone is following after all! I’m scared—teacher—
SFX: DA!
Makoto: Hi, he’s here too.
Makoto: And over there!

145.
Makoto: So…someone is tracking me down. I’M SCARED! I’M SCARED—

Makoto: Hold on, Makoto!

148.
Nube: That boy….came to be missing here 20 years ago.
Makoto: Th…that’s right…
Makoto: But you knew I’d be here well.
Nube: Yes, I looked at the ripped pages of the notebook you gave me.
Nube: It’s on this attached page.
SFX: BERI
SFX: OOOOH OOOOOH
Notebook:
FORGOTTEN THING | PLACE FORGOTTEN
MY BODY: RESEVOIR POND
Makoto: GE…IT WAS STUCK TOGETHER WITH BLOOD…

149.
Nube: It may have wanted this page to be discovered by you, a fellow person like him, from the start.
Makoto: Ri…right: it’s because I hadn’t noticed this page at all.
Nube: Yes: he was tired of waiting and in the end was going to make you a fellow victim…
(TN: The “michidzure” here is “fellow traveler” but considering that Makoto would merely be a “fellow victim” by traveling the same path as the notebook owner, I changed it slightly)
Makoto: I’m sorry, I hadn’t realized.
Nube: No…it’s fine; because his corpse was discovered consequentially.
SFX: ZA—ZA—
Makoto: Yes.
Makoto: THIS CHILD WAS A FORGOTTEN THING FROM 20 YEARS AGO…

TN: This chapter was very spooky and tragic but at the same just had a bit of a strange matter in not getting to the point it wanted to get across. The whole concept of the discovery of Yoshioka's notebook in order to "find him and save him from his sad fate" seemed really sad looking back on it...but somehow the whole concept ended up lost in the actuality of the chapter and how the notebook was used by Makoto. First of all, we never really get any connection as to why the notebook has the powers of remembering things before they're forgotten. It's obvious that magical notebooks are popular in Japanese culture (see the Death Note...or, for the one or two of you that read something else I translate, the Dream Note), but how did this "Forgotten Things" notebook gain this power of remembering what Makoto doesn't? It's obvious it was connected to Yoshioka, but how would he or even his ghost know what Makoto would end up screwing up in forgetting? Secondly: if Yoshioka wanted Makoto to find his corpse, why would he put that very clue in the pages that were stuck together? It was obvious that he used the notebook himself, but wouldn't he have made Makoto open those pages...let alone the fact that we never found out where in the notebook the stuck pages were and Makoto's assumption of it being partially used wasn't for the stuck pages but just what he saw of the notebook before using it himself. Third: if Yoshioka did die and possibly possessed the notebook to his death (thus writing the clue about his death and being in that pond), how the heck did it end up back at the storage room in Dourmori Elementary in an old abandoned desk? Wouldn't someone literally have to carry the notebook back to that one desk in the school...I would also think maybe it was a suicide but that wasn't implicated and it just seemed like he drowned and wrote it in there after he died like he forgot the one thing he couldn't forget. And finally: why would Yoshioka become so vengeful of Makoto that he would cause bodily harm to him, first knocking his tooth out and then ultimately trying to drag him to a similar death? I get the shared sympathy but to actually hurt the person you want to save you and force him to share the same fate just feels selfish. I'm not saying this was a bad chapter (it wasn't, as I mentioned), it just feels so confusing that it seemed to go one way...and ended up another.

BTW: In another story about a "forgotten thing", weird that the "black haired Ichimatsu Girl" popped back up...maybe she won't just be in the BG and forgotten after all compared to all the other character designs who come and go...

I know who Shizuka and Noro-chan are, I just want to build suspense for those who don't.
