Don Patch: OUT OF THE WAY

TN: Something just doesn't seem right: the return of Don Patch to the battle does feel like it's a major event...even to the part he gets a two-page spread for his return. But the fact that he's back facing essentially the vice-leader of a block (what not even Tsurubinya!?) just makes it seem like either the circumstances have just become that dire...or things are rushing again. The chapter does give me mixed feelings to tell the truth...there was both good and bad about it that just need to be let out. On one hand, I do still like the "retro Bo-bobo feel this chapter has with some of it's bits (all of the ninja jokes that refer to Jajamaru, Kage no Densetsu, Naruto...even The Ninja)...but I don't like how rushed some of the battle felt like it was just trying to get to a climax. (from "revealing the park" to suddenly releasing the roller coaster to Zunou just going to his ultimate form already...slow down already!) Likewise, I loved some of the callbacks to classic Bo-bobo (Don Patch remembering the Turtle Rap)...but not others (earth to Sawai: as fun as Tokoroten Jet is...AT LEAST REMEMBER THAT IT WAS A DOUBLE-TEAM ATTACK WITH HEPPOKOMARU!!!) And...this chapter in particular seems to further emphasize how Gaou just seems to be fading more and more into the background: sure I can get Don Patch being utterly ignored until his Don Patch transformation (or the fact that it is supposed to be 4-on-4 even though Beauty is with them), but showing Gaou in funny bits but not giving him any lines of dialogue just seems to make him less and less relevant than even when he had one or two lines in a chapter even if not too many gags. (yeah, the koala fans should just brace for the worst as we dive closer towards the later parts of Shinsetsu) But hey, at least we got Don Patch for next chapter...as well as...something I've been dreading for a while.
