When even a weakened, hurt Hien is able to take down a member of the Meiou Island team, you know things are not going well for Gouki's side. However, a new threat may be coming out with the dark to strike Otokojuku...

Chp. 219: Eyes that Shine in the Dark!!

107.
Togashi: A…amazing, Hien---!! Ho…how you brought down that Mahal with that final great reversal---!
Toramaru: Y…you’re a great man as expected---!! Wi…with this, we can have Gekkou rest in peace---!
Toramaru: Hi…Hien---!!
Toramaru: Ho…hold on, Hien---!! Hu…hurry and give him treatment---!!
Momotarou: The sun has set……………! Night seems to be falling.
Date: Yes……!!

108.
(Title page…wait, didn’t we have a full moon already in this tournament…yeah, weather changes rather quickly in this tournament at author’s will)

109.
Toudou: How do you intend to explain this, Gouki!! This unsightly progress………!!
Toudou: You are the only son who holds the blood of Toudou Hyoue, who is called the don of Japan. You’re the man who should inherit all of the power I possess in the future!! You’re the one whose mission of dominating this Tendou Gorin Daibukai that is imposed on you should be a link of his emperor studies……!!
Toudou: But this manner has me on the verge of harboring questions in your abilities!! Understood? In other words, how about being an appropriate man who truly is my successor!!
Gouki: ………!!

110.
Toudou: This has left a deep impression!! For the second time: failure is unforgivable!! Or I will come after your head as well!
Gouki: That f**king oldie………!!
Gouki: I am not a tool for fulfilling your bottomless desire!! You are a tool who should be used by me……………!!
“Chinese”: Hoho, what was laid on you by your father was a considerably angry appearance……but please be calm, young master. The power of our Meiou Island 16-Warriors doesn’t have a shallow bottom.
“Chinese”: Outside the sun has set and it’s already dark of night……………!! It’s their turn at last!!
Gouki: Their………!?

111.
“Chinese”: Yes: they are the governors of the night who crawl in the darkness……………!! Let them dye red with blood this jet-black night!!
Toramaru: A—ah, it’s finally become dark!!
Togashi: Even so, what an eerie night. Even the moon is hidden by clouds and I can’t see well the battleground.
Toramaru: We-ll then, who’s going next!?
Togashi: You dummy, you’re too quick with that speech since the enemy hasn’t even shown himself yet!!
Voice: It isn’t a relation of whatever person the opponent is. The main point is to defeat the enemy………!!
Toramaru: Wha!?
Togashi: Y…you’re…………!!

112.
Togashi & Toramaru: J~~~!!
J: Leave this to me here!! Only the panther eyes of a boxer can take on the movements of an enemy of the dark night!!
(TN: I thought it was “Eye of the Tiger”…never mind)

113.
Togashi: He...he’s great, that J………!!
Toramaru: J is doing that and he shouldn’t have recovered fully from the damage in his battle with Hakuhou in the semifinals and yet……!!
Momotarou: He’s a trustworthy guy…………!!
Date: Yes!! I should give thanks to god. He doesn’t have a match.
(TN: When Date mentions here about “giving thanks to god”, I really can’t tell if he means to “give thanks to god they have J” or that “J is a god and they should give thanks to him” Likewise the “yatsu” part seems to be referring to J saying that opponents “aren’t his match”, but it could also be in reference to any opponents against him which would have a meaning of “this guy isn’t his match”…but my guess is the former since we have no idea what the latest opponent is like)

114.
J: Nu!!
J: Th…this is………!!
J: …………!!
Voice: Fufu, you don’t know? That’s Mahal.
J: !!
Voice: It’s the corpse of Mahal, who suffered an unsightly defeat in the previous match……………!!

115.
“Wolf-Man”: These guys who are always starving ate him without even hearing my restraint. Now they can’t hear that much fresher feed has come down…………!!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! Th…they ate Mahal’s corpse---!
Togashi: Wh…what are they---!! Th…those numberless eye-like things that are shining in the dark night---!

116.-117.
“Wolf-Man”: Fufu, the clouds are clearing.
“Wolf-Man”: You should see our true forms………!!

118.
Wolves: Garuru!!
(TN: “Garuru” is essentially the “Grrr” made by canines including wolves)
J: …………!!

119.
Gobarski: My name is Gobarski of Siberia of the Meiou Island 16-Warriors--!! You will be feed for these devils starving for blood!!
(TN: Admittedly, this is a name I know I probably screwed up somehow or another, considering that Gobarski is supposed to be a Russian and I really don’t know how the Russians would pronounce his name. In particular is the whole “r/1” scenario”, considering that while “Gobarski” works, so does “Gobalski”. (or “Gobarsky”/”Gobalsky”) But in my scripts, he’ll be “Gobarski”…mostly because the “r” makes it sound closer to “bark”…which actually would connect him to the wolves he uses)
Toramaru: Wh…what are th…those bad-looking mutts~~~!!
Togashi: Are they carrying rabies---!!
Momotarou: You’re…wrong: those aren’t dogs…!! They’re Siberian Wolves, stated to be the most brutal and frenzied even among wolves!!
(TN: While wolves, in particular the standard Gray Wolf, do live in Russia, there is no such breed as the “Siberian Wolf”…on the other hand, there are Siberian Huskies that appear like wolves…)
Togashi: Wh…what---!! Wo…wolves---!

120.
Gobarski: Fu, if you compare us, Mahal and his elephant are like cats……………!!
Gobarski: First you will show your skill!! It will be enough to use three so we can defeat someone like you.

121.
J: !!

122.
J: Nuu!!

123.
Gobarski: Fufu: that now was Rousouken: Santen Rouba!! You seemed to be a bit ready to end up with that degree of wound with that blow now.
(TN: A couple of translations:
-“Rousouken” = “Blue-Wolf Fist”
-“Santen Rouba” = “Three Spinning Wolf Comma”; it should also be of note that the last kanji, which has a reading of “ba”, is also the kanji used in the Japanese word “tomoesen”, which is “dogfight” in Japanese)
Toramaru: J---!! Wh…what a movement by those wolves---!
Togashi: Wh…what---!! Di…did he let out it was Rousouken---!
Commentary:
Rousouken…In general, it is known of the tremendous fighting abilities of wolves and this hasn’t been overlooked by kenpoists. However, since wolves can strengthen their watchful heart to the extreme and not be tamed by humans, they’ve adopted a method where a 3-month old boy is raised by wolves and overcomes it.

Even in the present, there are occasionally reports of the discovery of a wolf-boy, but this is taken out to human society without being known by the boy in this studying curriculum.
-From “Wolf-Boy—Fist—”, Taikoubou Books
(TN: There is one little bit here in this entry I’m confused about: at the end of the first paragraph after the part about “the boy raised by wolves”, it states “sore wo kokufuku suru”; “kokufuku” has a couple meanings including “subjugate” or “overcomes”, but I’m not really sure which definition to use for it since both works. With “subjugate”, it makes it seem like he takes over the wolf-pack, which seems wrong due to the camaraderie of the wolf-boy and the wolves that raise him. [Think “The Jungle Book”] Whereas “overcome” has it like the boy is raised by wolf then ultimately overcomes some of his “wolf nature” into being a man but still have the whole experience/feel of being raised by wolves. I ended up going with the latter after much debate considering Gobarski considers the wolves as his brothers yet still acts and appears human)

124.
Gobarski: Wahhahaha: but that won’t be so the second time. Now, cut his windpipe with your sharp fangs!!
Wolves: ………!!
Gobarski: Hu—h, what’s wrong with you……!?
J: T – B – J – S!! (Triple Bullet Jump Special) Didn’t you see it!? My punch pulverized those three children in reparation for this wound!!
(TN: I’m not sure if it really sounds right but J calls Gobarski’s wolves “ako”, which is “my children”.)
Gobarski: Huh!?

125.
Wolves: Gyawa~~n!!
J: Playtime is over!! Next I’ll smash the heads of you and those wolves!!

TN: There's little one can really say about this chapter: it's J, he's awesome and he's fighting...a wolf-man and his pack. (change that, a RUSSIAN wolf-man...weird that the American fights the Russian and the Cold War wouldn't be over for another couple years) I guess you probably could be happy it isn't an Indian wolf-man or else you'd have major deja vu with a Kipling work...or feel how stupid it would be after Mahal. Meanwhile, I am rather intrigued with the current turn of events regarding Gouki and his Hyoue in means of the team: it obviously is a team Hyoue put together, but Gouki just seems more like he's pulling his dad as opposed to the other way around. Maybe we'll eventually see some real friction as to whom really controls it...but for the moment: we're watching J and a pack of wolves so nothing to complain here.
