The Atrocious Retribution!!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 222
Taking the words of his father to heart in the midst of near-defeat, J has stood up to face one final round against Gobarski! But will the American boxer finally deliver the finishing blow to knock out the Russian wolf-man?
Chp. 222: The Atrocious Retribution!!
167.
Gobarski: …………!!
Toramaru: A…amazing, J~~~!! He killed those avenging wolves with their filthy fighting spirit from that near-death condition~~~~~!
Togashi: Wahhahaha: l…look---!! At that stupid appearance of being bitten on his head---!
168.-169.
(Title page…yeah, a lot of the majors of Otokojuku in one line-up…even though J is still fighting and not on there)
170.
Gobarski: Kuu!! You’re undependable, stupid wolf!
Gobarski: Y…you, what exactly has it come to……!? Sta…standing up with taking that much of my Kaishousai attack---!!
J: Y…you should come: on that direct road to death that’s for you……………!!
171.
Gobarski: Muuu: ev…even my bowels are boiling with overwhelming sorrow……………!!
Gobarski: If…if it’s come to this, then you must see this……………!!
Gobarski: ROUSOUKEN OUGI: SOUKAKU BYOUKOU!!
(TN: “Soukaku Byoukou” = “Horn-Pair Beautiful Attack”)
J: !!
Toramaru: Wh…what is th…that---!!
Togashi: Th…that Gobarski, he attached pointed-horn like things on his head and is in a stance on all-fours---!!
172.
Gobarski: Fufu: I’ll tell you: the essence of Rousouken to me isn’t merely manipulating wolves; it is a shaping fist where I can copy a wolf’s nimble movements and their brutal attack nature and make it a taijutsu.
(TN: I’m not quite sure if I really should have translated it, but I translated “Keishouken” as “Shaping Fist” due to Gobarski being “shaped” by his life with wolves)
Gobarski: Nu!!
Wolves: Kuo—n kuo—n!! Ku—n ku—n!!
Gobarski: What---!! You want medical care---!
Gobarski: You dummies!! I can’t use any of you anymore; just die already---!
(TN: The “Just die already” is “sassato kutabari yagare”, which translates better as “die quickly”, but somehow with Gobarski’s angry mood at this point, I sort of added more emphasis in rudeness)
J: Weren’t they your brothers…………!!
173.
Gobarski: Fufu, they are beasts after all. I just have them as one weapon and use them. I can have many as my replacements if I go back to the great ice fields of Siberia!!
Gobarski: Soryaa, let’s go---!!
Gobarski: Take this!!
174.
J: Nun!!
J: !?
Gobarski: Wahhaha, how’s that; these movements you can’t see with your eyes!! This is the essence of Rousouken!!
175.
Gobarski: Ha!!
Gobarski: Kuryaa---!!
J: Gu!!
Toramaru: J~~~!!
Togashi: Th…that guy: he has those nimble movements that I can’t believe with that huge frame----!!
Momotarou: This…is bad…………!! J’s…J’s damage is more than imagine after all!!
176.
Gobarski: There---!!
Gobarski: Wahhaha: you’re a bad man at your point of death; can’t you resign moderately!! There’s no means to escape from attacks that are like surging waves!!
177.
Gobarski: Nu!?
Gobarski: Otto!!
178.
Gobarski: Fu, that was thinking: sacrificing your left arm to instantly stop the movement of my horn and then release a right punch!! But even that is your last wicked play!! That wasn’t even a graze for me----!
J: Gu!!
Gobarski: I got you now~~~~!!
179.
Gobarski: ROUSOUKEN OUGI: SOUKAKU HOUCHUUSATSU!!
(TN: “Soukaku Houchuusatsu” = “Horn-Pair Air-Release Murder”)
Gobarski: Wahhahaha: already you can’t change your falling orbit from that stance!! These horns lying in wait above ground will come to skewer you and you will only die atrociously---!!
Togashi & Toramaru: J---!!
180.
J: Is…is that how it is!! The…the thing I sacrificed my left arm and aimed with my right punch wasn’t you yourself!!
Gobarski: Wh…what---!?
Gobarski: Uh!?
Gobarski: Wh…what, th…this is---!!
181.
J: YOU LOST: F – C – M – P (Flying Crash Megaton Punch)!!
Gobarski: GUWAA!!
182.
Toramaru: He…he did it---!! The Megaton Punch directly hit the top of Gobarski’s head----!
Togashi: Bu…but what’s going on? I can’t see Gobarski!! He suddenly disappeared---!
Momotarou: Fu, you should concentrate your eyes better and look.
Togashi: Huh!?
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! He…he’s been buried—th…that Gobarski guy has been buried into the ground with just his head coming out----!
183.
Gobarski: Y…you………!!
J: You’re a great blockhead.
(TN: Again, J uses “Ishiatama” here: while it’s “inflexible person” typically, the way that his head is makes it funnier to have it as the direct translation)
Gobarski: Nuuu!! Ma…making mocking behavior…………!!
Gobarski: Fufu, bu…but what are you planning to do!? Ca…can you deliver a finisher to me, who was placed in a nonresistant circumstance by you!? No, you can’t do it: you’re that sort of man!!
J: Right……….!! I don’t dirty this fist with the blood of men like you! But what about them…………!?
Gobarski: Wha!? Wh…what do you mean by that!!
184.
Gobarski: Oh!!
Gobarski: Ooh!! It’s…you, y…you’re alive---! N…now can’t you help me out quickly---!!
Gobarski: N---!? Wh…what’s wrong with…all of you…………!! Wh…what’s with th…those eyes…………!!
J: There’s no difference whether human or beast: anger is great when betrayed by a person you believe in………………!!
Gobarski: You…can’t be………!
185.
Gobarski: Hi…Hii, st…stop~~~!! Aaaa aren’t we brothers tied by strong bonds---!!
Gobarski: UGYAA~~~!!
J: A stupid death really becomes you!
(TN: The Japanese that J says beneath is “Orokamono no shi to wa sonna mono!” translates as “A fool’s death is what you get!”)
(End of Vol. 25)
TN: Somehow I really like those weird "just dessert" moments this series gets even as obvious as they get. The moment Gobarski turned on his wolves was the moment he was doomed to his defeat: those animals raised him and probably don't like the disrespect that he suddenly has for their ineffectiveness. Regardless, seeing Gobarski in "wolf-fighting" mode made everything rather worth it (though that last helmet gave me vibes of a viking...or Buffaloman) as did seeing him get pummeled to the the ground with J's fist a hammer and his head a nail! (somehow it fits with the weirdness of this series...) Somehow I think it would have been cool to maybe have Gobarski in his "wolf fighting" mode with his pack together at some point but...I guess when it's last-ditch, it's last-ditch. But other than that, that was probably one of J's most impressive fights considering everything he had to overcome to get through it. Maybe it wasn't as brutal as the Manjimaru fight or overwhelming as the Genseki-ryuu massacre, but it feels the most worthwhile considering how J had to actually earn it...even with negative points for the whole "Gobarski didn't finish him off and sent his wolves to eat him" bit.
