With the recent failures of the Meiou Island 16-Warriors, Gouki may just end up being sent to the wolves for Otokojuku's power! But his force may still have a great power up their sleeve to face them...or three...

Vol. 25: Time to Depart to the Front!!
Chp. 223: Enter the Mongol Sankyousen!!

7.
Togashi: He…he did it: J won…………!!
Toramaru: Go…Gobarski is being eaten by the wolves with his body buried in the ground………!!
Toramaru: Bu…but, is…isn’t this a tad too cruel……aah, that J has sunken to callousness that’s this far……!
Momotarou: Fufu: you should look closely once more.
Togashi: Huh!?

8.
Toramaru: Wh…what~~~!! Is….that~~~!
Toramaru: Th…the fangs of the wolves have entirely broken off---!!
Togashi: He…he’s breathing!! Go…Gobarski has just been peeled of the white in his eyes, blowing foam and fainted---!
Momotarou: He’s that sort of man. A true champion who isn’t just merely strong.

9.
(Title page…well, if Togashi can get a solo fight, so can Toramaru!)

10.
Togashi: Ooh, J, that was a splendid victory---!!
Toramaru: Saving the life of Gobarski makes you a man like we think after all---!!
Togashi: Kakkakka: but this is the degree of the Meiou Island 16-Warriors?
Toramaru: Shouldn’t they wave their white flag and the rest of them give up soon---!!
Togashi: Wahahaha: that will give us the championship---!!

11.
Gouki: Instructor Hon………!!
(TN: We finally have a name for the “Chinese man”, with a title of “shihan” which is usually used for “instructor” like at a martial arts dojo)
Gouki: Again this shameful sight……!! How do you plan to take this responsibility!? These youngsters have been making fools of us like this……………!!
Hon: Hohhohho: please compose yourself, young master.

12.
Hon: I’ve been hired for a vast amount of money by your father, gathered strong warriors from around the world to this Meiou Island and conducted training with them that is beyond imagination with the greatest equipment. The true power of the Meiou Island 16-Warriors that should be called constructed art isn’t like this by a long shot. The fighters up to now were just the lower-ranks even among the 16.
Hon: Fine; so then, next I’ll be sending out a trio who should be called my prized children; this should present relief to the young master!!
Gouki: A prized trio……!? Where are they!?
Hon: Hohhohho: you haven’t realized it? They’re already immediately behind you, master…………!!
Gouki: You’re jesting: people who can get to the behind without an indication being felt by Toudou Gouki……………!!
Gouki: !!

13.
Gouki: …………!!
Hon: Go!! Mongol Sankyousen of Meiou Island! End the lives of Otokojuku by your hands!!
(TN: “Mongol Sankyousen” = “Mongol’s Three-Chosen Evils”; while the kanji in the name represents Mongolia, I really can’t say as such yet and thus the name translated as is)

14.
Togashi: Ooh, look: night is breaking and the sun is rising---!!
Toramaru: Even so, what’s going on? Is the next competition opponent never going to come out---!
Date: No, they’ve already come!!
Toramaru: Huh!?
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! Th…three men are standing on the Toudou statue while we were unaware---!

15.
“Large Mongol”: Leave this to me. You two won’t have to appear.

16.
(That…is a long drop)

17.
Toramaru: I…I don’t believe this: Wh…what is he…there---!!
Togashi: No…no mater how I see that large frame, he jumped down from the top of the statue that is 30 meters in height----!! Ev…even so, it’s…as if he swooped down without even a sound like a butterfly---!!
Kyrgyz: My name is Kyrgyz Khan!! One of the Mongol Sankyousen of Meiou Island……!!
(TN: First of all, the Japanese version of this last name, and likewise of all three of the Mongol Sankyousen”, is “Kaan”. Strangely this name has a reading of “Caen”, which is a French name, but appears to be referring more to the “Khan” that are tied to the leaders of the Mongolian empire who ruled a massive area of Asia and Europe from the 12th to 17th Century. Typically in Japanese, those “Khan” are given the reading of merely “Kan” (and are read as “Qa’an” or “Qan”), but for our purposes we’ll be calling them “Khan” due to the English reading of the Mongolian leaders. Secondly, this Khan’s name is read in Japanese as “Kirugis”, but the appropriate reading is “Kyrgyz” akin to, say, the “Kyrgyz people” or “Kyrgyzstan”; thus I wrote his name as Kyrgyz Khan…besides, Kyrgyzstan was part of the Mongol domain at one point so it works)
Kyrgyz: I’ve prepared an interesting idea for this match!!

18.
Toramaru: Wh…what is th…that---!! What’s like a small arena is coming to project out from the battleground’s abyss---!
Togashi: It…can’t be: Th…that guy Kyrgyz Khan is fighting over there---!!

19.
Kyrgyz: Fufu: there’s nothing to be surprised about. Isn’t this a thing called sumo, which is the national sport of your country?
(TN: Strangely at one point Kyrgyz makes a comment of “Kokugi”, which literally is “national sport” and directly refers, in the case of Japan, to sumo)
Kyrgyz: But then, the current limiting doesn’t know of Mongolian sumo of my homeland.
Kyrgyz: Well, what’s wrong!!
Kyrgyz: Isn’t there a person who will go headlong into Chaga Porte, where you’ll go to the depths of hell if you lose a step of footing--!!
(TN: While I’m not quite sure if this is supposed to be “Mongolian”, “Chaga Porte” has a reading of literally “Hell Sumo”, which we’ll identify it as)

20.
Commentary:
Chaga Porte…there grappling sports that are analogous with Japanese sumo dotted through various parts of the world, but a particularly famous one is Mongolian sumo. Ancient in it’s history, it was preferred and occurred as a link in fighting training by those who were of the daring and resolute equestrian tribes stretching back to the era of Genghis Khan. Chaga Porte, which was an idea by Jimihe Khan, a tyrant of the 17th century, was a terrible one said to be where an arena that is a height of 15 meters above ground is created and it is there that they fight betting life and death.

Incidentally, there is a theory that says that the yell “Dosukoi” used by Japanese sumo at present has it’s origin in the name of “Dosukoi Khan”, known as the strongest warrior in Chaga Porte.
-From “Sumo Life: It’s Now or Never”, Minmei Publishing

Momotarou: That easy handling of his body when he jumped off from the top of that statue earlier……!! He isn’t a man with just merely superhuman strength.
Date: Umu: he possesses quite self-confidence in this Chaga Porte.
Akashi: Who will go? We’re limited in techniques that can be used on top fo that narrow arena.
Voice: Kukkukku: it…it seems like it’s come around to my turn at last.
Momotarou: !?

21.
Togashi: TO…TORAMARU~~~!!
Toramaru: I…I can’t be silent hearing that it’s sumo!! He…here’s where you leave it to Toramaru Ryuuji, the best strength-boaster in Otokojuku!!
(TN: Yeah…Toramaru referred to himself as a “strength boaster”; the expression he uses here is “chikarajiman”, which literally is “boasting of one’s strength” or “self-pride in strength”)

22.
Togashi: Ho…hold on a moment!! Wh…what is that mawashi!?
(TN: “Mawashi” is the actual term for the loincloth used by sumo wrestlers)
Momotarou: ………!!
Togashi: Is…isn’t that the rubber of the Kamon Choutaihou that you used in your combo with me in the Amon & Unmon match in the first round!!
(TN: Another slight gaffe on when things happened: Togashi referred to the Amon/Unmon fight as in the preliminaries…but it was the first round of the champion league on Meiou Island, thus the change)
Toramaru: Heh, you care about that thing? Leave this to me!!
Toramaru: Well then, here I go!!
Date: It’s as Akashi said: we can’t use awkward tricks in that narrow arena. If this is a match of power and power……………!!

23.
Momotarou: Don’t worry, Togashi……!! He’s your best pal: can’t you be confident in him?
Togashi: Th…that isn’t it: I understand because he’s my best pal……………!! He’s being unreasonable and letting out bravado, but he’s going out there prepared to die…………………!!
Momotarou: …………!!
Toramaru: Uoooo~~~!!
Toramaru: Ge!!

24.
Kyrgyz: Fufu: you should quickly cross over and come. But then if you’re reconsidering, then now’s your time.
Toramaru: Wh…what’s that---!!
“Short-Hair”: Foolish man…………does he think he has a chance of winning against an opponent as that Kyrgyz Khan in Chaga Porte………………!!

25.
Toramaru: Y…you should be prepared, you guy!!
Toramaru: HERE I GO---!!

TN: At this point, I think we're pretty much forced to think of all of the set-ups and matches as satirical considering how trite some of the plot-points have become. I mean, for the most part the flow of the battle has been the same every time: Otokojuku defeats some guys, the enemy says "they were the underlings, they send out someone more major, Otokojuku beats them, then defeats the leader". I mean, if it weren't for how crazy the fights have been and for the whole idea that it is essentially satirical, I probably wouldn't have continued going to this point: Otokojuku isn't about the story, it's about getting there with all of it's weirdness. I guess I point it out now again because of how the intro of the Mongol Sankyousen is similar to that of a lot of the other "sub-bosses" at this point...but hey, if it weren't satirical, then why would the Minmei Publishing books just keep getting weirder? Any way, at least with this fight, we get Toramaru finally getting his solo chance just like Togashi before him; though at least we get a reason as why it would happen...which is a good thing: the whole factor of "go with someone who doesn't use a weird tricky kenpou and just sticks with brute force"...and when it's Toramaru, that's pretty much his whole battle style. Though on a quick note: at least Gobarski survived due to...well, his wolves losing their teeth. As freaky as he was, he was a fun fighter.
