TN: Well, we've essentially reached the half-way point of Shinsetsu in this chapter: there are 73 chapters, thus 36 before, 36 after and...this one in the middle. And at this point, it feels like we're witnessing both the good and bad with Bo-bobo in this one chapter. On one hand, Bo-bobo's attack against Porstroi seemed awesome: taking the bite of a "vampire", then smashing him with four punches to knock him down. But on the other hand...why in the world doesn't this still feel like Bo-bobo? I know I mentioned it before, but somehow these chapters feel less like the classic series since the whole "Namerou the Emperor" storyline started at the start of the volume with a ton of story and just not enough Hajike or weird bits. Yeah, they're still here (like Tennosuke taking Porstroi's claw attack and the Mr. Khamen joke), but somehow it doesn't feel like Bo-bobo anymore and feels more like some serious series with a few weird jokes sprinkled here and there due to the title. I do wonder sometimes if this has anything to do with the change in the series...or is just a sign of Sawai trying to progress the story with so much of this backstory due to Bo-bobo's collapsing popularity in the magazine. Sort of like "well I have something big I want to do but I have to do all this set-up in order to get to it". Honestly, I really don't get the point of this Z-Project anymore (first we had mutated Heppokomaru, then we had these "True Block Leaders", and now we have some other force tied to Namerou...with as fast as the project has gone, I wonder what the real intention was considering it's just been so crucial to everything in this series since at least Babuu showed up and Heppokomaru turned evil), but at least it seems like the fighters who get mutated with the Zenmetsugan all do seem to get "new forms" to demonstrate their ultimate power. (as we've seen with Heppokomaru, Pokomi, and Porstroi...and yet we don't know if Tsurubinya had it too with how he was handled) Of course, while I do hope we finally get some answers, next time we'll be starting...well, the build-up to the big finish...and I do mean "big".
