Ritsuko-sensei: she used to not stand Nube, but recent events may have started to change her perspective. However, her conflicted feelings may end up as bait for a youkai that could make things...different between both of them!

(TN: I really don’t get why we really had to have the comment about Keisuke: he only really had one chapter and a cameo (he appeared in a panel of the bathhouse chapter, right near Katsuya’s sister Manami) and…honestly he really doesn’t appear again. Nothing wrong with the kid but it does feel weird he gets notice here…but I guess Akira needed to take care of him for the moment. As for Akira…well, his disappearance is sort of infamous by this point considering he had gone from a “member of the big 5” to less than a BG character [let alone Miki being now tied to Katsuya as opposed to…her “similarly-Devilman-inspired” partner]…but Makura and Okano aren’t quite done with this bright student…)

(TN: These whole first two pages is a massive joke that just had a really hard time being done unless it’s done in Japanese. The crux of the joke is “reikon”, which is Japanese for “soul”. Since it honestly is “soul”, it really isn’t something I rather not do in Japanese with a proper translation. However, Nube’s joke involves Ritsuko’s sandwich, which has “bacon”. (which in Japanese is “beekon”, which is really close to “reikon” in saying it). The punchline is that Nube sees Ritsuko’s bacon and switches the “b” with the “r” making it a “large reikon” instead of a “large bacon”. Since I couldn’t really just use “reikon” instead of “soul”, I adjusted the joke to keep the “soul” part and somehow tie it to Ritsuko’s “bacon”…I know it was a pathetic attempt but I tried to make it work)

(TN: I really had a hard time figuring out what Kyouko is “strong” for. The word at fault is “reikan”, which has a meaning of “stimulus” or “inspiration”, but literally has a meaning of “spiritual feeling”, which somehow feels like it works better for Kyouko. But until further checked out, I’m using the “spritiual feeling” one to affect it)

Kyouko: A marriage youkai!?
Kyouko: This is terrible: Nube is going to get married to a youkai.

(TN: A weird comment I have to say here: usually weddings are not done in a “Buddhist style”. In Japan, a wedding is usually done in a manner akin to either Shintoism or Christianity, even with neither tied to the actual religion that it occurs in. [usually it’s funerals that occur in Buddhist style with weddings in Shinto or Christian style])
Nube: Right. (heart) Make it showy.

(TN: The “Ammymeeger” is Nube’s “sobbing mispronounciation” of “Toboshii”, which he makes “Dobodzide”; it translates to “destitute”, “poor” or “meager”)
Kyouko: Wh…what? Was that last speech…
Ritsuko: I really hate him after all!

TN: First of all, these have been done for a few days...but just been so busy with stuff that I hadn't had the time or patience to put this and the next two up.

As for the chapter...well, it was fun. A tad strange with how Nube seemed to go between the line of "knowing it was Ohaguro-Bettari involved" and "finally getting Ritsuko-sensei as his bride", but somehow the whole aspect of him faking not seeing the youkai obviously showed that he knew and that he sort of hoped he got the former likewise. Though the problem with making it seem like a show and not telling your students...is mostly that Kyouko nearly ruined everything near the end. Yeah it wasn't really her fault, but she does seem so concerned and protecting of Nube that it nearly spoiled the ruse. But hey...anything that makes Ritsuko-sensei cuter (well all those big-eyed lovey moments did do that) isn't too much of a bad thing...though I do wonder: what would have happened if Yukime did find out? Yeah…what will happen to a (cutely-)insane yukionna who freezes everything in sight when she’s angry and who just so happens to not even be in this volume? Not to mention how she reacted when she finally met Ritsuko last volume…let’s just be lucky she’s not in this volume, but the next they meet, especially if this wedding is done and she becomes Mrs. Ritsuko Nueno…prepare for Doumori to freeze over and our teacher to be transported on the next sled back to Touhoku! (thank goodness she's not in this volume...)
