It has been a while since Yukime showed up at the school, but with her undying (obsessive) love, it's hard to keep her away for long! But when she causes problems with another familiar youkai, she may end up with her worst day ever!

Nube: We had it to the extent that you couldn’t come to school…
Yukime: But…if I don’t do it like this, I won’t meet with you at all.
Yukime: I made you bentou and came here. Go ahead.
Nube: Th…thank you. (to himself) They’re all frozen food—and further, before they thawed…
SFX: Za…| (Pleasantly cool)

Nube: Huh…if this is when, then she’s come to seem to make human food…

Voice: Nueno-sensei.
Ritsuko: I’ve gotten an invitation card to a viewing restaurant at a new hotel that opened in front of the station but…if it’s alright, then how about we go together?
Nube: Eeh!? Wi…with me!? I…I’ll be pleased to!
Yukime: Is that truly whose called Ritsuko-sensei…
Miki: Recently those two haven’t been as annoyed as we’ve been lead to believe…
Yukime: Ridiculous…a human woman swaying Nueno-sensei is even more unbelievable than the stars of a galaxy all aligning, Japan sinking or KochiKame to reach it’s final chapter!
(TN: A couple silly comments about two of Yukime’s ridiculous propositions:
-“The stars of a galaxy all aligning” involves the word “chokuretsu”, which is “to form a series”, but since with stars that usually involves an alignment, the translation works here as is
-“KochiKame reaching it’s final chapter” is…well, a really bizarre prospect considering it’s length. The long running “Kochira Katsushika-ka Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo” by Osamu Akimoto has been running consistently since 1976…and by the running of this chapter in 1995…let alone the translation of this chapter in 2010…KochiKame is still going strong)

#14: Zashiki Warashi

It was introduced in the third volume, but I hadn’t had the chance to introduce it in the Great Youkai Encyclopedia until now.

Well then, Zashiki Warashi is known as a child youkai who makes abundant to it’s invited home good luck to it’s people. Due to differences in age and sexy by region, it seems there it isn’t alone. Based on the situation, there have been instances where two or three have appeared at the same time. It has a personality that loves pranks, particularly runs around with large footsteps in the middle of the night, and is said to protect a home by giving a heard of a fire by particularly threatening sounds whenever it is house-watching alone in a person’s home. It doesn’t give a curse like an animal spirit, but with it being unpleased on an extreme whim, it can quickly leave a house. Zashiki Warashi actually has an opinion of being a cruel youkai due to a home collapsing when it leaves, but that is the human that has it occur with endeavor by over-relying on its good luck when they take in Zashiki Warashi. Zashiki Warashi itself has no ill will as an innocent child youkai.

By the way: what’s called “thinning out” is a custom of killing born babies due to not having the money to raise children in a poor home up to several decades ago. Zashiki Warashi is said to spirits of the children that were thinned out changed into youkai. Therefore, they may be how they like abundance. Again, this is a friendly discussion of had been done at a toy shop, but warehouses of toy shops are said to well gather the spirits of children. They too must be future Zashiki Warashi candidates.

TN: First of all, I would like to announce that this chapter is the last "consecutive" chapter I did with my first run on Nube. (the one I did around and slightly after college) While I did do a couple other random chapters, next time it's all brand new stuff from here on out for me! (well script-wise)

As for the chapter...somehow Yukime chapters never end up dull, but this one in particular was just a lot of fun. Maybe not as insane as a couple of the more epic chapters (and it's hard to compare with the last one being the infamous Yukibe one) and somehow meant to peeve her off, but still enough to allow for her to show her various sides regarding love, loyalty, disappointment, peeved actions...and obsessive sweetness. Though I do find it strange that of all youkai she ends up quarreling with, it would end up being one as powerful as Zashiki Warashi, who would manipulate Ritsuko-sensei's luck to the point of her and Nube having possibly the greatest date in their lives. It is slightly obvious that Ritsuko is having much more interest in Nube, especially due to all that has happened after the Yukibe incident...but with Yukime having her obsession for all those years, any change to the status quo would end up making her worried. Of course, that's all up for how you interpret what happened...and what will happened. (of course...this chapter was all worth it for Yukime in that maid outfit...or just her staring with a heart over her while Nube eats...more frozen stuff)
