After demonstrating his wind-ripping power, Jaki is finally ready to rip apart Spartacus! But in order to reach this imperial opponent, first he's got to get past his defenses: the ultimate chariot of one of the grandest empires!

Chp. 242: Horse-Drawn Tank Scorpion

29.
Toudou: O…Ougi Shinkuu Senpuushou…………!?
Momotarou: A super-vacuum phenomenon, which occurs due to a distortion in the atmosphere that has the slang of “Kamaitachi”…………………!! Jaki-senpai’s tremendous fist, which can do it at will like that, instantly shaved off the skin and muscles of that raging bull………………………!!
Toramaru: A…amazing special technique!! Ri…right, that’s the technique he used when he fought with Momo in the Paaren Seiha~~~~!
Togashi: Th…that shot will trounce Spartacus----!!

30.
(Title page…well Jaki is going to pulverize him…but there is still that war machine Spartacus is riding on)

31.
Spartacus: I’ve seen with my own eyes your special secret!! In that case, now isn’t the time to use this Red Whip Genocide.
Spartacus: For you, you will face as an opponent this horse-drawn tank Scorpion. This one vehicle that was an invincible tank that was said to match up with a thousand soldiers in the age of Imperial Rome!!

32.
Spartacus: LET’S GO---!!
Jaki: !!

33.
Jaki: Nuu!!
Toramaru: Wh…what is th…that---!!
Togashi: Bl…blades that rotate with amazing force have emerged from the axles of Spartacus’ tank~~~~~!!

34.
Jaki: Ku!!
Togashi: Wh…what quickness that horse-drawn tank has---!!
Toramaru: That thing surely is one body of man and horse---!!

35.
Commentary:
Horse-Drawn Battle-Tank Scorpion…a legendary weapon devised and used by Caesar, the hero of the ancient Roman Empire. It was said to annihilate with as few as ten horse-drawn battle tanks that took the name of Scorpion ten-thousand soldiers of the enemy nation Melbia in the Battle of Ravioli with the immenseness of its power. It’s secret is it’s wonderful equipment and mechanisms, surely with reason a super-modern weapon in it’s day.

Incidentally, even the designs for 20th century tanks have adopted a great number of its ideas.
-From “The Source of Modern Weapons as Seen in World History”, Minmei Publishing
(TN: A couple notes:
-The name of the great hero here was “Caesar”, possibly in connection to “Julius Caesar”, but during the Roman Empire…as you know, Julius Caesar was never tied to the Roman Empire, always vehemently protecting the concept of the Republic and killed with others thinking he may become emperor. So here you could just take it as a name, not a title such as what was the name of all emperors of the Roman Empire when Rome finally became an empire.
-Before you ask, yes, the name of the famed battle was “The Battle of Ravioli”; the Japanese was “Rabioori”, which translates to the famed pasta dish…and people keep saying this series is just serious and generic…)

Jaki: That’s a tremendous attack without taking even a breath!! But you’ve forgotten there is the Ougi of Shinkuu Senpuushou that I have!!
Spartacus: You should do it!!

36.
Jaki: DAIGOUIN-RYUU OUGI: SHINKUU SENPUUSHOU!!

37.
Jaki: !!
Jaki: Nu!!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! Jaki’s Shinkuu Senpuushou didn’t go through---!
Togashi: So…somehow he opened that strange-shaped umbrella-like thing and repelled it----!!

38.
Spartacus: Understand: your Ougi isn’t useful at all.
Jaki: …………!!
Spartacus: Originally, this shield was for protecting the body from a storm of arrows.
Spartacus: This peculiar shape was calculated and created to buffers the power of any and all objects, changes its angle, and snaps it away!!
Jaki: …………!! It seems like I must defeat those horses first so I can defeat you!!
Spartacus: Right………!!

39.
Spartacus: But can you do that---!!
Spartacus: Ku!!

40.
Jaki: Gufu!!
Jaki: Nuuu!!

41.
Spartacus: Wahhahaha: that blow now truly has cut the strength of your leg!! Already you’re not suited to even move satisfactory!!
Spartacus: You should design to resign!! You’ve lost---!!
Toramaru: Uoo---!! Ja…Jaki---!
Togashi: He…he’ll be run over and killed---!!

42.
Spartacus: Fu: I thought I would have a bit more fun but…………!! That was too quick a match……!!
Spartacus: Na!!

43.
Toramaru: Wh…what………!! He…disappeared……! Jaki’s body has vanished like smoke……………!!
Spartacus: …………!!
Spartacus: Fu, understood…………!!
Spartacus: You’re here----!!

44.
Spartacus: !!
Spartacus: As I thought: you hid your body beneath the tank……………!!

45.
Spartacus: But that won’t be effective again!!
Jaki: You should say farewell to your workhorses………………!!
Spartacus: What’s that---!! Y…you, it can’t be that you!!

46.
Spartacus: !!
Horse: So…somehow I have a feeling like my body has strangely become lighter……!!
Spartacus: St…stop----!! Stop you two---!!

47.
Jaki: Don’t be confused…………!! You too will soon be buried down in the same place as these two!!
(TN: Jaki’s “buried down” here is “okuru”, but not in a typical means. While the second kanji is the general “Okuru” that stands for “to be sent”, the first kanji is the kanji for “to be buried”. Both kanji together have yet another meaning: “sousou”, which literally means “attendance at a funeral”)
Horse: BIHIHI~~~N!!

TN: Time to ask this question again...and let me be honest when I ask it: why do people keep thinking that Otokojuku is just some generic battle manga? Yeah I get how some people don't like the flow of the battle and that the school fighters are for the most part unstoppable at times in battle. But think about it in the context of this chapter: we have an unstoppable emperor-like warrior who can make the air rip apart...taking on a general-like opponent on a weapon-clad chariot tank that would make Ben-Hur jealous...and let's not get into the thought bubbles of the horses. (which reminded me a bit of the bull from last time) Now tell me: would any typical serious action series do this? This chapter personifies why there is so much charm in Otokojuku: it takes something so mundane and makes it so insane and crazy that you can't help but laugh. Sure it gets predictable, but where else would you have a chariot where the big accomplishment was at the...snicker...Battle of Ravioli?
