Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 263
The Top Floor: The Room of the Bridge!!
-> RTS Page for Sakigake!! Otoko Juku 263
With four floors down, only the top of Mouryou Tower remains! But if you expect Date or Momo to finally get that match they've been waiting for...well, that's just burning bridges before seeing who really goes last!
Chp. 263: The Top Floor: The Room of the Bridge!!
85.
Togashi: Wh…what~~~!! Th…that Hakuhou, he entered into the tower as he pleased and fought in place of Momo and the others~~~!
A. Kamshin: Fuffuffu: of course. And as it appears that the battle is already over, your allies have finally moved their pieces to the top floor of this Mouryou Tower.
Togashi: Wh…what~~~!!
Toramaru: Da…damn this: that brat is joking with us~~~!!
Togashi: We…we can’t leave this ignored---!!
Hien: Now that you mention it, I can’t find that person either.
Togashi: Huh!?
Togashi & Toramaru: Wh…what---!! Hi…him too---!
86.
Hakuhou: Kakkakka; that croc-guy had that appearance!! He still hasn’t gotten his body out from the crocodile’s mouth and is writing around now!! He roughly ended up like that when he had angered me!!
Momotarou: Ha…Hakuhou…………!! How about if you moderately take off and throw away that crocodile skin?
Hakuhou: Kakkaka, this is the greatest as arctic clothing---!! Besides, I’m thinking of making it someday into a crocodile-skinned handbag!!
Souketsu: Look: it seems that that’s the door to the last room……!!
Souketsu: !! So…someone’s in front of the door……!!
87.
Momotarou: TOUDOU GOUKI---!!
88.
Gouki: You’re late; I’ve gotten tired of waiting!!
Momotarou: Gouki, ho…how did you get in here……!?
Gouki: Don’t ask what’s obvious. I too have a nature of not being patient forever in one place, the same as Hakuhou.
Gouki: Here’s where you’ll leave this to me.
Momotarou: Ah, wa…wait, Gouki---!!
89.
Momotarou: …………!!
Date: Fu, the turns for you and I have been snatched, Momo!! It seems the battle in the tower seems to be unchallenged fields for Otokojuku’s new students!!
(TN: “Unchallenged Field” is in Japanese “Dokudanjou”, which is “ a field in which one acts unchallenged”)
Momotarou: Yes, they’re great men!! We truly have gathered emboldened helpers.
Voice: FUFU: PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR FOOTHOLD!! I’LL TURN ON THE LIGHT NOW!!
90.
Gouki: !!
Momotarou: Wha!! Th…that’s---!
91.
“Mustache”: Well done. You’ve gotten up to here!!
Meyfa: My name is Meyfa, leader of the five of Mouryou Tower!! The guardian of this “Room of the Bridge”!!
Gouki: …………!!
Gouki: Are we fighting on top of this slender stone bridge…………!!
92.
Meyfa: Fufu: were you thinking this is surprising!? Beneath is a lake of boiling lava for when if your foot misses a step……!! Well command your heart that even your bones will melt and won’t be left behind!
Meyfa: Well, you should come!! The very first floppy disk that you all wish is over there! You can obtain it if you defeat me!!
93.
Meyfa: What’s wrong!? Is your legs cramped and you can’t even move!!
Meyfa: In that case, we’ll go from me!!
Gouki: Kougetsu Blades…………!! You use those unusual toys……!!
(TN: “Kougetsu Blades” or “Kougetsujin” = “Lone-Moon Blades”)
Meyfa: Ha---!!
94.
Meyfa: Uo!!
Gouki: Foolish!!
95.
Gouki: Nu!!
Gouki: Gufu!!
Gouki: Y…you……….!!
Momotarou: Go…Gouki---!!
96.
Gouki: !!
Meyfa: Do you see: this is Mouryoutou Ougi: Chuushi Furantou!!
(TN: A couple things:
“Mouryoutou” = “Mouryou Tower”
“Chuushi Furantou” = “Air-Thread Floating-Imperial Fight”)
Gobarski: Wh…what’s going on there, th…that’s---!!
Hakuhou: Th…that guy: he truly is flying to the top again and is standing still in mid air, in spite of losing his step and falling down below----!!
Momotarou: Don’t you understand…….!! You should concentrate your eyes and look at the entire room!!
Gobarski: Huh!?
Gobarski: N---!?
97.
Gobarski: Wh…what---!! St…strings---! Th…thin strings that are like piano wires ha…have been stretched through the entire room----!!
Gouki: Understood………..!! I was careless to not notice the existence of the strings without accustoming my eyes to the darkness of the room.
Meyfa: That blow now should have been quite severe!! Your victory or defeat was already decided from when you made one step into this “Room of the Bridge”!!
98.
Meyfa: Nun!!
Meyfa: You have to work with all your might to avoid these nimble attacks on that foothold!!
Meyfa: Further, it’s impossible for you to even ride onto the strings just like I can!! Because this technique is one I have mastered at the end of long training!!
99.
Meyfa: Besides, there’s nothing you can do if you aren’t wearing these special shoes with thick soles to protect my feet from the sharpness of the strings!!
Gouki: Ku!!
Momotarou: Th…this is bad!! Go…Gouki’s sword has broken~~~~!!
100.
Meyfa: Fufu: you’ve accepted it: you’ve come to not be able to fight already!!
Gouki: Accepted……!?
Gouki: The acceptance should be for you, Meyfa………!! I don’t have the time to waste any further with you!
Meyfa: Fufu: What are you jesting about!! What can you do with that broken sword!! You can’t use that bluff!
Momotarou: Gouki has subdued the blade into his scabbard and taken a drawing stance……………!!
101.
Meyfa: DIE!! There’s not even a chance to win for you!!
102.
Meyfa: Wahahaha: somehow I’ve avoided just your vitals!! But the next blow will finish you---!!
Gouki: Say that speech after you look closely under your own feet.
Meyfa: N!?
Meyfa: Wh…what---!! Th…that’s---!
103.
Meyfa: Th…the tip of that broken sword~~~!! It’s…under my foot---!!
Meyfa: Uooo---!! A…a person like you would---!
Gouki: The string of your destiny has been cut…………!!
TN: Is there supposed to be some sort of weird pun regarding all the names in the Mouryou Tower? Considering that I know I probably screwed up quite a few of them (Meyfa? Clinsman!?), I just wish I knew the answer to that. Regardless, the last fight of the tower was interesting, not just because of what happened...but because this essentially is our big and only fight given to...well, one of the main adversaries of the previous arc! Yeah, this essentially is Gouki's swan-song battlewise...it wasn't a bad fight, it just really didn't feel like the definitive finale for a character who we just saw a volume ago manipulating Ki and throwing a giant dragon at Momo. My guess: somehow he was probably meant to do more but the time running out forced them to at least sneak one battle in...or just they wanted to show him off once, hoped to do more later but couldn't with the way the series turned out. Regardless, it wasn't that bad a fight, you just wonder why Gouki didn't get more...though it was clever how he threw him down into the lava using his blade on his shoes that stood on the wire.
