-> RTS Page for Shintetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo 57

Beauty: INTENSE ANGER...HIS FACIAL EXPRESSION HAS CHANGED!!
SFX: Buroro...
"Announcer": Next up--we're in front of Aichi University~~~
(TN: Not quite sure why "Aichi University" is mentioned here, but the university in itself is a private university whose main campus is in Aichi Prefecture with locations in Toyohashi, Higashi Ward of Nagoya and Miyoshi)
Tennosuke: We're here, boy.
Don Patch: YA--Y, I'LL PRESS THE BUTTON!

Beauty: WHAT IS THIS MINI-TALE!!?
62.
Bo-bobo: YOU'RE IN THE WAY!!!

Softon: THAT'S...!! THE TRAINS ARE SIMULTANEOUSLY MOVING OUT!
Beauty: WHAT THE---!!
Don Patch: SO THEN HURRY, IF THE SHUTTER CUTS IT OFF
Tennosuke: If gallent figures study the Hankyuu Kyouto Line---!!
(TN: The "Hankyuu Kyouto Line" is the main train line of the Kansai area of Japan, run by the Hankyuu Company and connecting areas of Kansai to the main hubs in and around Kyouto)
Beauty: RAILROAD MANIACS!? THAT'S DANGEROUS.
Bo-bobo: BEAUTY
Beauty: WHAT?
Bo-bobo: I'm buying station bentou. (how many people?)
(TN: Station bentou or "ekiben" is a notable type of boxed bentou lunch sold at various Japanese railroad stations. However, the tradition is slowly dying out due to the consistant increase in speed of the trains connecting the nation)
Beauty: WE'RE BUYING THAT!!
Kamara: KUKU...ALL OF YOU WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO A SPECIAL STAGE THAT'S AHEAD...
SFX: KO---KO---
Kamara: IT'S A STAGE THAT'S CONCENTRATED ON A UNIQUE IDEA. WILL ONE SACRIFICE FROM AMONG ALL OF YOU EMERGE.
63.
Bo-bobo: Here you go.
Dengaku Man's Bib: SU (LONG LIFE)
Dengaku Man: WHAAAT----!!!?

Softon: BEAUTY
Bo-bobo: GUOOO, WHAT IS THIS SCAFFOLD!!? WE CAN'T ADVANCE AHEAD!!
Kamara: These trains are all new animal lifeforms that were originated by me. Come out, Tanuxi--
Tanuxi: Yes.
Tanuxi: The girl will be lead to the example station.
Caption: TANUKI & TAXI
(TN: Obvious pun, but just as a reminder: a tanuki is a type of wild "racoon dog", not a raccoon as typically thought of)
Dengaku Man: WHAT IS HE? IT'S UNSOPHISTICATED
Tanuxi: One meter: 680 yen.
Dengaku Man: DID WE BRING MONEY? FURTHER, IT'S EXPENSIVE!!
65,
Tanuxi: WELL, HERE WE GO---!!
Dengaku Man: IT'S VIOLENTLY FAST
Dengaku Man: BO-BOBO, IF THIS IS ABOUT BEAUTY, DON'T WORRY. I'LL PROPERLY GO AHEAD AND PROTECT HER!!!
Bo-bobo: ...No, don't do any excess things since this will be fine. (Not a thing)
Dengaku Man: COLD!!
Softon: Bo-bobo, here's where you leave it to us and go save Beauty quickly!!
Bo-bobo: YOU ALL!
Pokomi: YAY!
Don Patch & Tennosuke: GYAAAAAA (Save us too)
Kanji: Kin
(TN: The "kin" here is obvious in reference to "kintama" or "testicles")
Bo-bobo: UNDERSTOOD, LEAVE THIS TO ME--!!
Kamara: There won't be a stopover.
Kamara: ANIMAL MIX!! MARIMO + MINE RADAR!!!
(TN: "Marimo" or "ball seaweed"/"Moss Balls" are Aegagropila linnaei, rare forms of algae that only grow in certain northern nations, including Japan)
66,
Kamara: ANIMAL MIX SHINKEN OUGI: CARRYING MARIMO
(TN: It's sort of
Don Patch: EEH!? THE MARIMO ARE THOSE ANIMALS!?
Kamara: Your Hanage Shinken doesn't surpass just your nosehairs changing into expandable whips.
Bo-bobo: OUT OF MY WAY----!! SHINSETSU HANAGE SHINKEN OUGI: SPRING'S DISORDERLY NOSEHAIR WHIRLWIND!!!
Kamara: ANIMAL MIX SHINKEN CHOUOUGI: MARIMO-NET CURTAIN!!!
Kamara: It's futile...look at your nosehairs.
Bo-bobo: !! THAT'S...A LARGE QUANTITY OF MARIMO ARE COILED AROUND MY NOSEHAIRS!!
Bo-bobo: UO! THEY'RE RAPIDLY CLIMBING IN...IF THEY DO IT AT THIS RATE, UOOOO---
Bo-bobo: IT WILL BECOME "THE WINTER SAPPORO GREAT MARIMO FESTIVAL"!!!
(TN: Bo-bobo's "festival" is referring to a weird version of Sapporo's Snow Festival, held every February where massive snow statues go up in and around the major city of Hokkaido)
Pokomi: I DON'T WANT THIS STUPIDLY-REACTED FESTIVAL!!!
(TN: "Stupid reacted" is in reference to the expression "mossari", which is where the reaction to something is slow, dull or stupid)
67.
Kamara: EXPLODE
Bo-bobo: GYAAAAA
Don Patch: AAAH---THE MARIMO FESTIVAL~~~~!!
Kamara: That's a simple Shinken.
Bo-bboo: GU
Voice: Excellent! The opposition to his Animal Mix can only be for us to unite.
Bo-bobo: !
Don Patch: SUMMON THE GOD, BOBOBA!
Bo-bobo: PATCHGI!
Bo-bobo: I SACRIFICE KANPYOU, NARIKIN AND ZETSUBOU-KUN...
(TN: While "Zetsubou-kun" is obvious, the other two need a bit of explanation:
-Kanpyou is the dried shavings of calabash gourd, usually used in Futomaki sushi rolls
-Narikin refers is "Shinomiya Narikin", a type of pastry)
Pokomi: DON'T SACRIFICE THOSE DECENT THINGS
Bo-bobo: DESCEND, DESPARING SKULL HEAD DRAGOON!!!
(TN: While obvious a silly reference to Yu-Gi-Oh by Kazuki Takahashi, the last bit sort of needs a bit of an explanation. In the series, the means to summon a "God" always involves sacrificing three monsters to bring forth such a powerful monster. And...yeah, "Boboba" obviously refers to Yugi's rival, Seto Kaiba and the "Despairing" is "Zetsubou")
Kamara: GUOOOOOOO
68.
Pokomi: AN AMAZING THING EMERGED---!!
Kamara: They've entirely destroyed my Carrying Marimo! What was that ridiculous technique now? Is this Hanage Shinken too?...
Softon: YOU'RE FULL OF OPENINGS
Kamara: !
Softon: BABYLON SHINKEN CHOUOUGI: PASSIONATE CONTINENT OF JAMAICA!!!
Softon: !! GUO
Kamara: Kukuku, full of openings?
Kamara: That isn't so.
Caption: ANIMAL MIX SHINKEN CHOUOUGI: HEDGEHOG ARMOR "GYMNURA"
(TN: A "gymnura" is in reference to Echinosorex gymnura, also known as a "moonrat", a white-furred member of the hedgehog family found in Borneo and parts of Southeast Asia)
Don Patch: HIIIII~~~~SONIC THE HEDGEHOG~~~
(TN: Yeah, he's obviously referring to the famous Sega video game character Sonic the Hedgehog who originally appeared in 1991 on the famous Genesis game)
69.
Bo-bobo: HEDGEHOG ARMOR...
Kamara: Kukuku, whose next?
Tennosuke's Caption: DEAD
Bo-bobo: NEXT, TENNOSUKE WILL BE YOUR OPPONENT---!!!
Tennosuke: GYAAAAA, I'VE BEEN EXPOSED AFTER ALL!!!
Hatenko: That idiot, he can't do anything either.
Don Patch: NO, LOOK CLOSELY! HIS STATE IS DIFFERENT FROM ALWAYS! THAT'S...THAT POSTURE......
Pokomi: IT'S MERELY THE COMPLETE SURRENDER POSE OF A DOG!
Kamara: A jelly-shaped creature? It seems filled with moisture.
Kamara: I'LL GIVE HIM A GOOD THING!!!
Tennosuke: GOPAMA!!
70.
Tennosuke: GUWAAAA, MY BODY IS MELTING---!!!
Caption: ANIMAL MIX SHINKEN CHOUOUGI: PENGUIN + DRY ICE
Kamara: If you put dry ice into water, then does the water spout out?
Bo-bobo: TENNOSUKE---!!
Softon: THIS GUY, HE SOUNDLY CREATES MIX CREATURES THAT ARE EFFECTIVE ON OUR SHINKEN AND ATTRIBUTES! HE'S STRONG!!
Bo-bobo: THIS IS THE TRUE POWER OF A THREE DAIOU!
Kamara: With this, it would be a good point to even kill you, but I won't kill you yet.
Kamara: WE SEEMED TO HAVE ARRIVED.
Kamara: OVER THERE IS THE PLACE THAT WILL BECOME ALL OF YOUR GRAVES.
Bo-bobo: WHAT!?
Kamara: YOUR ALLIES HAVE BEEN WAITING IMPATIENTLY AS WELL: THE DEATH STAGE...
71.-72.
Kamara: THE DEATH COASTER "SPIRAL DOODLEBUG"!!!!
(TN: A "doodlebug" is another name for the larva of an ant-lion, notable for their trapping pits to capture their meals of ants. In Japanese, it is known as "arijigoku" or "Ant Hell")
73.
Bo-bobo: WHAT IS HERE!?
Bo-bobo: UOOOO--AMAZING SIDE-Gs SEEM TO BE SHAKING US OFF---!!
Don Patch: WHAT! I ABSOLUTELY CAN'T BE SHAKEN OFF. IT'S MY DREAM PERFORMANCE AUDITION; I'LL ENDURE ANY TRIAL.
Sign: LITTLE SISTER HEROINE GIRL AUDITION
Pokomi: WHAT IS THIS AUDITION!?
Don Patch: GYAA
Sign: WIND-AND-LIGHTING TRIAL
Bo-bobo: N
Bo-bobo: LOOK BELOW! SOMETHING IS THERE
Bo-bobo: THAT'S...
74.
Bo-bobo: BEAUTY!! (And Dengaku behind her...)
Dengaku Man: HELP!! HELP!!
Bo-bobo: KU...YOU, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO BEAUTY!?
Kamara: HA HA HA, SHE'S BECOME A SACRIFICE
Kamara: I'LL TELL YOU: THIS IS THE SPECIAL RULE OF THIS "SPIRAL DOODLEBUG"!!
75.
Kamara: This stage is a specially-installed stage in the shape of an earthenware mortar. All of the slopes has been split into train rails that is five track segments. These five trains, which each differs in speed, will go down at fierce speed while drawing a spiral that aims for the lowest stratum, which is the goal point. The arrival time until they're at the goal point is about 5 minutes. All of you must stop all five trains until then.
(TN: "Earthenware mortar" is "Suribachi", a Japanese-style mortar and pestle glazed on the outside but not on the inside. Usually this is used for grinding spices for Japanese cuisine)
Caption: Goal Point
Kamara: If you're not in time with even one of them, it will strike the sacrifice in the lowest stratum and your allies will die.
Everyone: WHAT'S THAT---!!!!
76.
Bo-bobo: KU, ALL FIVE TRAINS!? WHAT A DIRTY ARRANGEMENT
Kamara: At most, this will be frantic...
Kamara: ALL OF YOU WILL BE KILLED ON THE BASIS OF DESPAIR WITHOUT LEAVING ONE!!!
Bo-bobo: WE CAN'T SHOW SOFTNESS. YOU WILL BE DEFEATED AND WE WILL SAVE BEAUTY!!!
Don Patch: AAH!! FATHER'S WIG!!
Tennosuke: GUOOOO, I'M EVAPORATING--!! I'M EVAPORATING---!!!
Dengaku Man: HELP---HELP ME---!!!
Pokomi: ...Quite suspenseful...
TN: The chapter wasn't too bad this time around but for the most part it just felt like it was trying to further prove the point from the previous chapter while setting up Kamara's train battle arena. I mean, we sort of got the point of his genius and the ability of defying all of Bo-bobo's team's powers with his bizarre Animal Mixes last time....though it was cool seeing the Marimo festival...and Tennosuke just start randomly melting due to the penguin dry-ice stuck in him. As for the battle structure...well, I sort of don't get the whole concept of villains who rather make the hero suffer instead of killing them outright. Sure it ends up creating psychological victory for the villain but if you just don't kill them from the start, then it's more about self satisfaction than it is about killing someone. I guess in a way it feels more like a James Bond scenario than any real matter...though there are not really as many "James Bond" death traps as many people think there are so it's really hard to say that. So...maybe we should just watch Tennosuke melt instead...or just random sacrifice Dengaku Man.
