The Trap of Another Dimension
-> RTS Page for Hell Teacher Nube 113
Science continues to speculate about other worlds, even those beyond all concept of our own knowledge! But while Hiroshi really should be worried about being targeted by these forces, he has even bigger worries on his mind...
#113: The Trap of Another Dimension
180.
Tamamo: Vol. 13 will be over in one more chapter…we’ll meet next in Vol. 14; Adios!
(TN: Somehow Tamamo should have just appeared in this place or even on the side once prior to now but he only really had one volume of appearance prior to vol. 12 [and that was a “female chapter” with Minako-sensei and 2 had Kyouko], thus this is probably his first real opportunity so…great to have it now)
181.
Nube: Here?
Boy: Yes, in the midst of our Rugby practice.
Boy: At the moment he jumped to make a Try, he disappeared as if he was sucked in.
Nube: A human into airspace? That’s ridiculous.
Nube: It’s great that you called for a mysterious incident, but there isn’t particularly an indication of spirits.
Players: Ah.
Nube: Huh…
SFX: Buran…buran…
182.
Rugby Player: Save me—
183.
Player: Ueda—
SFX: Zuzu… | Da
Ueda: Hii~~
SFX: Shu
Nube: I can’t believe this…what exactly is this…this isn’t a spirit phenomenon, it’s…
Narrator: The next morning: Doumori Elementary
184.
Hiroshi: What is it; you did call me.
Kyouko: Sorry sorry, were you waiting?
Kyouko: Here, this is because it’s been getting cold…I knitted this, wear it.
SFX: Doki!
Hiroshi: Eh, you knit this?
SFX: Doki doki | Gasa gasa
Hiroshi: Wa--…
SFX: Gogogogogo
Caption: (Things that are like gloves)
Hiroshi: …I have to wear this? (Hehehe…)
Kyouko: Yes…I knit them putting in my heart…I did make mistakes with it a bit but…
185.
Hiroshi: This is embarrassing… (Hahaha…)
Kyouko: It’s fine even if you’re not shy on it.
Hiroshi: No~~I’m saying that it’s a it’s in a condition of gaudy-red fray; and I’m saying it’s got fingers that are stretching out like deep-red coral; this is too artistic for me, just a bit… (Hahaha…)
Kyouko: ………
Kyouko: What! You aren’t pleased with gloves that have my love into it!?
Hiroshi: What sort of problem is that!? Can’t I think anything looking at this production?
SFX: Fu | Bon!
Kyouko: !?
SFX: Goro goro goro
186.
Kyouko: What…?
Hiroshi: It’s like a rugby ball but…
Hiroshi: Blood…
SFX: Dorori…
Sign: Staff Office
Kyouko: It fell from mid-air.
Nube: ……
Hiroshi: It’s surface is made of black rubber.
Nube: No…
SFX: Saku saku
Nube: This isn’t the surface.
Nube: This is inside-out.
SFX: Buri
Caption: Doumori High
Hiroshi: Ge! What happened to it!?
187.
Nube: Lyall Watson, an English scholar on animal behavior, had a book where he introduced a girl who sent a tennis ball into another dimension and it was turned inside-out. In this world of the other dimension, it comes to be possible to even take out the contents of an egg without breaking it…being inside-out seemed to be a well known phenomenon for things that come to return from another dimension.
(TN: Lyall Watson, born “Malcolm Lyall-Watson”, isn’t English but South African; he is notable for his works in various fields and for writing various new-age books, including the best seller 1973 “Supernature”, which attempted to make sense of the supernatural in biological terms, as well as introducing the concept of “The Hundredth Monkey” (a phenomenon where learned behavior spreads instantly from a group of monkeys to all when a critical number is reached) in the 1979 book “Lifetide”. He was also notable as a sumo commentator for British TV. He lived between 1939 and 2008)
Kyouko: A…another dimension!?
Hiroshi: So…the person who had the ball was…
SFX: Zo…
Nube: Perhaps…he became inside-out similar to that ball…somewhere…
Hiroshi: Gee!
Nube: I too have gained an interest now and have investigated it.
Book: (Tough to read the last kanji but the first part says “Another Dimension”)
Nube: People who have disappeared into another dimension seems to have risen to a huge number up to now. In 1956, Jimmy, a boy from Oklahoma in America, jumped over a hedge when playing tag and was annihilated. 1880: Mr. David Lang of Tennessee disappeared while waving his hand facing the eyes of his family.
(TN: While it is unknown whether this really happened, the David Lang disappearance is actually something that supposedly was documented: it occurred on September 23, 1880 as he went to approach Judy August Peck and within view of his wife and kids. A strange circle was sited to appear where David disappeared and some claim that nothing would go there and that the voice of David would echo out when someone stood there. But in actuality, the tale seems to be proven a hoax, inspired by the short story “The Difficulties of Crossing a Field” by Ambrose Bierce)
188.
Nube: For a period of several days afterwards, a painful voice that seeked assistance was heard from mid-air but…before long, it came to not be heard. This dangerous dimensional tear now seems to have appeared in Doumori town…and it seems to suddenly opening and closing and swallowing in people and things!
Hiroshi: Nube, that’s terrible.
Kyouko: In spite of whatever’s other than spirits is outside your specialty.
Kyouko: That’s right: we were in the middle of a quarrel. Properly put on my gloves.
Hiroshi: Shut it—if I say I won’t, I won’t! Enough—don’t keep asking until I wear them!!
Hiroshi: Really, who would put these things on! She’s truly an awkward girl!
Dog: U—
Dog: Wan wan wan
Hiroshi: Shh shh, you’re noisy you stray dog!
189.
SFX: Gugu
Hiroshi: Hey
SFX: Bago
Dog: Kyain kyain
Hiroshi: Wh…what~~
SFX: Ba
Hiroshi: The air was like breaking glass…Is…is this a dimensional tear…
SFX: Paka | Dosha dosha
Hiroshi: !
190.
Hiroshi: Uwaaaa!!
Book: Language
Dog: Kuu~~n…
Nube: What!? A dimensional hole attacked you!?
Hiroshi: Seems so: there was something inside and it was…
Kyouko: Ge…then that dog is adhering to your bag?
Kyouko: It wasn’t inside-out?
Nube: Yes.
Nube: A battleship was hidden in another dimension by way of an Einstein theory in 1943’s Philadelphia Experiment. The experiment was a failure: All things: people, iron and lumber ended up fused together…
(TN: The “Philadelphia Experiment” is a supposed experiment that occurred on October 28th, 1943 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where the USS Eldridge was supposedly rendered invisible, based on an Albert Einstein theory called the “Unified Field Theory” which claimed to describe mathematically and physically the interrelated nature of electromagnetic radiation and gravity. In some versions of the experiment that occurred in July as a test, soldiers were fused with the metal structure of the ship, while the actual experiment supposedly made the ship “teleport” to another naval yard in Norfolk, VA. However today the experiment was considered a hoax, even though some continue to research and figure out if it ever really happened)
191.
Nube: He’s really exceeding common sense, that guy from another dimension…
Hiroshi: But that hole that attacked…!!
Nube: Don’t think about it. Dimensional tears possessing will and attacking are…
Kyouko: Hmph: it would be great if someone like you did disappear in a dimensional tear.
Hiroshi: It’s because this is a phenomenon really outside the specialty for Nube this time. He may not understand this well.

Nube: Right, I’m sorry. I did know of this while investigating it, but the tales of apparitions who live in other dimensions are a heap in the world.
193.
Nube: I’ll start with the example of two children being kidnapped by something from a dimensional tear in front of the eyes of their mother in 1843 in Claveau, France; mysterious disappearances by apparitions of another dimension have occurred in every country of the world; with them being caused by tengu or devils.
(TN: I can’t really figure out where “Claveau” is and I’m trying to figure it out but nothing further can be found about this location)
Hiroshi: An apparition of another dimension?
Nube: Yes, you may be aimed at by it.
Kyouko: Hiroshi…you’re really in danger…
194.
Hiroshi: Apparition…even Nube would stand up to it…it’s another dimension; can’t it reach out its hand to here…
Hiroshi: Uh~~it’s cold!
SFX: Bururu…(Brrr…)
Hiroshi: Haha…they’re warm. Well…even if they’re awkwardly made, wool is wool…
(TN: “Wool” refers to “Keito” which is merely “knitting wool”)
Hiroshi: Well, even if I think about it, nothing—I can do.

SFX: Shuuu…
Kyouko: Hiroshi! Are you alright; you’re not hurt are you!?
Hiroshi: Yeah, I was saved thanks to your gloves.
Hiroshi: Thank you; these gloves will be used valuably.
Kyouko: Hiroshi…
Nube: Ah~~they’re burning up; every time, every time.
Narrator: Form then on…Kyouko elaborated on her knitting.
Nube: Ahaha
“Knitting Items”: (top to bottom): Hat | Sweater | Muffler | Stomach Band
Hiroshi: I hate these after all.
Narrator: However whatever she made, it hadn’t improved.
(End of Vol. 13)
TN: And now, for no reason whatsoever, Ataru's impressions about this chapter as he translated it:
Something...something...cute Kyouko expression, another cute Kyouko expression...another dimension...Kyouko...dog fuses with bookbag...more cute Kyouko...Nube randomly finds even more stuff he forgot to tell Hiroshi...sad but cute Kyouko...bizarre unknown universe with freakish monster that's like a fusion of an alien and Yorick from "Sam and Friends"...final cute Kyouko
Yeah, probably I was paying way too much attention to Kyouko (well she has a lot of great facial expressions this time) and not enough to the plot. But then again...the problem with the chapter is "Nube just keeps finding out new information that he just so happened to find out now and not before when it could have helped Hiroshi with a being from another dimension trying to pull him in" I know Nube is constantly trying to learn things but sometimes not knowing of it until it's nearly too late just shows a tad of irresponsibility. Yeah he's trying to do his best on subjects that have nothing to do with youkai, in particular matters involving extradimensional physics, but if it weren't for Kyouko's gloves being crummy, then Hiroshi would have ended up like that first baboon from the Jeff Goldbloom version of "The Fly"...and trust me, I don't want to see one of his students have his internal organs exposed for a couple seconds after emerging from another dimension before exploding into a mess of blood and innards.
(nearly pukes, looks at a picture of Kyouko from this chapter) Besides, she'd be devastated if he was gone...of course I did really like how this crisis sort of paralleled their "fight" over her terrible knitting. Let this be a lesson folks: if you knit terrible: you will hate it but it will be warm, comfortable, and fray to the point of getting you out of dimensions that will mutate you into some monstrosity created by Jeff Goldbloom...
(starts beginning to puke again; relooks at another Kyouko image) Let's just hope we never have to put up with something like that again...for Kyouko's sake.
