(TN: Another year, another set of popularity results. This time around, Sawai probably did the logical thing considering some of the chaos last time: for starters, he finally seperated the 9 main fighter characters from the rest and had all 9 of them in a completely seperate vote. Of those 9, the biggest jumper this time is obviously Heppokomaru: after slipping to 5th most popular of the team in the last polling, he shoots way up towards #2...of course, Don Patch still remains #1, but everyone loves him. Dengaku Man slips below him and Tennosuke, while Bo-bobo is finally below Beauty...and Softon's below everyone, even Torpedo Girl! It's really bad to be a poophead, is it? The other two new categories this time around also reflects all the other types of characters in this series between enemies and "everyone else". Rice is still the strongest of them (probably the same crowd who voted Heppokomaru #2 and also boosted by his Former Maruhage performance), but a shocking #2 is...Kancho-kun, who pretty much stabbed Tennosuke in the butt...then died. This actually worked to Kancho's advantage a lot later when we get to the arc after Former Maruhage...of course we really don't know until pretty much the end where all these Kanchos come from but those little guys are just useful. In fact, including Kancho, four of the top five were recent villains who weren't on the previous vote including J, Lambada and Zetsubou (who also will be taking advantage of this vote in the near future) Of course below them we get to a few who got quite a boost compared to last time, including Gunkan, Ruby and, most surprising to me, 6! Hanpen probably would have made the vote if his fight had started by that point but you can't blame him for being held off. Finally in the remaining characters, we see the continued popularity of the Kopatch and the biggest being newcomer Patchbobo. (which somehow I probably think was involving his fight being so close to the vote). Denbo did rather decent as well in her first vote and the only other real surprise in the top ten is...Yakkun, which is just weird since it's just a wooden doll. But enough from me: on with the chapter!)

TN: It's actually somewhat bizarre if you think about it that the 3rd's battle style is the "abracadabra" style of magic. When people talk about magic in fantasy, it's usually the creation of fire or water out of thin air, turning people into things and all that sort of hocus-pocus. But the whole idea that his entire battle style is more or less traditional magic tricks that we are used to seeing with nothing but slight of hand and a hint of illusion (only real as is the case of Hatenko and Don Patch dissapearing into a cloth handkerchief)...it just makes him that much more creepier! On the other hand, I liked how Sawai subverted the "results of the 9 heroes" from earlier to "the order the 3rd kills everyone"...at this point you now wish Don Patch got Softon's rank...or that Tennosuke had a bit more help but he's sort of used to this sort of violence.
