Though he was cursed to die from the effects of Shiranui, Gobarski sacrificed himself to let Momo continue the battle seriously! But will his death be enough to allow Otokojuku's leader the means to finally defeat a bewitched sword!?

Chp. 302: The Last Word!!

106.
Hien, Togashi & Toramaru: Go…Gobarski----!!
Toramaru: Wh…what has this come to…
Togsahi: Th…that Gobarski, who was that energetic up…up to earlier has…!!
Momotarou: ………!!

107.
(Title page…it’s surprising how much emotion we get from even a character who hasn’t been around as long like Gobarski…then again I suddenly realized why Wan Taaren left)

108.
Toramaru: ……!!
Date: What is that…!? Something is written on the ground.
Date: He strained the last of his power and left this note behind on the verge of his death. He’s telling something……
Toramaru: But what does it mean…!?
Togashi: Is this like letters or like a code…!?
Momotarou: ……!?

109.
Yukinojou: Fuffu: Are you planning on keeping me waiting forever in the middle of a match, Tsurugi? Both Shiranui and myself are tired of waiting.
Yukinojou: This isn’t the case to be saddened forever by the death of that foolish man. That man died paying for his mistake as consequence of his foolishness.
Toramaru: Wh…what’s that you---!!
Togashi: No…no matter how you’re an enemy, those are words said about a man who has died---!!
Momotarou: E…everyone, step back………!!
Momotarou: He will certainly be defeated by me!! For certain……!!

110.
Yukinojou: Fu, that’s quite the spirit. You’ve lost your unrest of up to earlier and now are hiding just your anger and sadness in your blade.
Yukinojou: But even so, you can’t win against me. I’ll show you the other devilishness of Shiranui!!

111.
Momotarou: !!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! It’s…floating----!!
Togashi: E…even though his hand let go of it, that sword is floating in mid-air---!!

112.
Yukinojou: Go, Shiranui!! Now have him taste your true terror!!
Momotarou: Uh!!
Momotarou: St…stupid, this is!?

113.
Momotarou: Gu!!
Momotarou: Nuu!!
Yukinojou: Uwahhaha, don’t forget!! Even if you bare one scratch, you will have a disorderly death just like the earlier man--!!

114.
Momotarou: Ugu!!
Togashi: Uoo, I don’t believe this---!!
Toramaru: It’s…as if the sword possesses a will like it’s a living thing and coming to attack with tremendous force----!!
Hien: Th…there’s no indication it’s being manipulated by string!!
Souketsu: Th…that sword really is a devilish sword possessed by a vengeful ghost……!?
Momotarou: That’s…wrong. This should be something.
Momotarou: Something!! Gobarski realized that something!!

115.
Momotarou: That’s why he communicated it in the end and left it behind on the ground!! Tell me, Gobarski, what exactly you were communicating to me……!!
Momotarou: !!
Momotarou:Th…this is a fragment of Shiranui that spilled off the blade with the blow now……!! Wh…why is this fragment floating in mid-air………!?

116.
Momotarou: Nuo!!
Momotaru: I…if it has that meaning!!
Yukinojou: Fuffufu, Shiranui, that’s enough for playing. Steadily put an end of this.

117.
Momotarou: It’s sink-or-swim!!
Toramaru: Aah, Mo…Momo is climbing the cherry blossom tree and that’s having him chased by Shiranui----!!
Togashi: In…in spite of having nowhere to run like that----!!

118.
Momotarou: It…it is!!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! Shiranui has suddenly stalled and it’s balance has crumbled---!!
Yukinojou: Nu!!
Momotarou: Nun!!

119.
Momotarou: I’ve seen through your true identity, Shiranui!!
Momotarou: Ha!!
Yukinojou: !!

120.
Momotarou: Ha----!!
Toramaru: He…he did it---!! Shi…Shiranui has been sealed beneath the cherry-blossom tree---!!

121.
Momotarou: Next is your turn!!

122.
Yukinojou: Fu, splendid Tsurugi. You’ve done well in reading the secret of Shiranui.
Yukinojou: Indeed this Shiranui carried magnetism and everything in this garden has come to have a powerful magnetic field. You understood that and lured Shiranui by climbing that cherry blossom tree……!! And thus, at a height where magnetism came to not reach, it was caught in a place where its balance was destroyed.
Momotarou: Right: it was those letters Gobarski left behind……He came to inverse the style of the N due to his pain on the verge of death, but that were the S and N which had the meaning of a magnet!!
Toramaru: Wh…what---!! A magnet---!!
Togashi: So…so then, what exactly does this mean----!!
Souketsu: Ri…right, he brought that out………!! Th…that is surely Chuuji Kyuuzantou, which is said to be a Chinese Kenpou…!!
(TN: “Chuuji Kyuuzantou” = “Aerial-Magnet Peaceful-Murdering Sword”)

123.
Commentary:
Chuuji Kyuuzantou…As it is known, magnets have a S and N poles and a strong union works between different poles, but a strong repellant power works between the same poles. Putting this theory to practical use is Chuuji Kyuuzantou, said to be an illusionary secret Ougi of Chinese Kenpou.

The important point of this technique is to bury a numberless amount of powerful magnets which create a magnetic field in the ground in a place which will become a battleground in advance and using a sword made by mixing in an iron powder that carries magnetism.

In brief: the magnetism from within the ground and the magnetism of the sword are of the same pole and it will float in the air by this. And the user of the technique manipulates with skill with a super-powerful pair of same-pole magnets that they carry hidden in their sleeves, presenting to the floating sword movement as they please and attacking their opponent. Naturally, the magnets necessary for this technique is unique in that it is only produced in a portion of a streak in China and the Soviet Union and that it goes without saying that it won’t react to other metals.
-From “Magnet Power – This is How They’ll Change the 21st Century—“, Minmei Publishing

Yukinojou: Fu, I won’t need these anymore.
Yukinojou: On top of understanding up to that, I will tell you one more thing. The blade of Shiranui is lacquered with a toxin called Binechin Amide. It’s a secret medicine where if even a small amount enters into your body, it will cause a disorder to your spirit and bring you to death.
(TN: While “Binechin” is obviously something I couldn’t quite find a meaning to, an “amide” is an organic compound typically of the carbonyl-nitrogen sense that are typically bases used for rigid materials as well as for making certain notable drugs including penicillin or LSD)

124.
Yukinojou: Fu, after all, a thing called a bewitched sword doesn’t have reason to exist. All of it was a fable for presenting a feeling of psychological oppression for you.
Yukinojou: But the true match is from here. So then, don’t think you can win by bearing a scratch of that degree.
Momotarou: You’ve lost, Yukinojou. This match is already over.
Yukinojou: What’s that!?
Momotarou: When I jumped down from the cherry-blossom tree, I carried with the sword. In short, the sword planted in the ground now is my sword……!! You should look closely at the sword in my hand.
Yukinojou: !! It…can’t be……!!

125.
Yukinojou: TH…THAT’S SHIRANUI---!!
Momotarou: This death will be appropriate to you. You will die tasting the similar pain as Gobarski!!
Yukinojou: Wa…wait. Th…that stupid………!!
Yukinojou: UGYAAA----!!
Momotarou: I’ve fulfilled my promise, Gobarski.

TN: Well, once again we have learned a valuable lesson: Never question the convoluted logic of Otokojuku, especially when involving a Minmei Publishing entry (even though this actually...is the last one of the series...sad to see it come but unfortunately...well won't spoil it but the rest of the series really doesn't have any means to use them) There is a factor that will further explain it next chapter, but the fact that something from China also came from Russia/Soviet Union (well Gobarski is Russian and Russia and China do share a massive border...though I haven't done enough research to find out if this chapter was done before or after the final collapse of the Soviet Union considering that it happened in '91 when this chapter came out) and how it connects to the whole magnet story was a nice touch to show why Gobarski was so easily effected...and why he was the ultimate downfall...of the Shiranui fraud. It's tough to figure out how the heck someone would have the time to make all that set-up for one silly technique...but it's Otokojuku so just go with it. Somehow it still doesn't quite explain some things like the whole "blood on the sword" bit (which probably is just mere showmanship by Yukinojou thinking about it) but at least the whole battle is over...and we can move on to...well, let me admit this: we're entering a strange section of the Seven Tusks arc. Let's just say this: be prepared for anything the next few chapters...and I do mean it.
