After leaving the bloodied body of Izuna as his calling card, Zekki, the younger brother of Baki (AKA: Nube's Oni no Te) confronts Nube, Yukime and Tamamo on the grounds of Doumori Hospital...but is there any way anyone can stop him!?

Zekki: Yes yes, that's good rhythm. These three have quite a good sense. Merely a bit of power won't be enough but...
Zekki: This is a good opportunity: let me teach you the way to use a real Oni no Te. Here we go.
(TN: I probably should just call it "Oni Hand" here considering that, you know, this is actually an Oni using his own hand in combat. But of course, old habits die hard and Nube refers to Baki as his "Oni no Te", so I think somehow Zekki would call it the same to pretty much tease them on the power he possesses)

Kyouko: Isn't it so that she didn't know.
(TN: Well at least it's about time considering a good chunk of the cast already knew that...heck, when Shuichi knows before Miki, you know that she's been out of the know for so long)
Zekki: What's the matter, that wasn't an extreme resistance, was it? Get serious.
(TN: Zekki uses a term of "Tegotae" here which, based upon the kanji used, typically has a reading of "response". However, a fellow "tegotae" that also had "response" also had a translation of "resistance", which worked much better in working out Zekki's comment regarding what he thought Nube's corp was going to take him on with)
SFX: Shushushu
Nube: Uh...uuh. (to himself) He's too strong! This difference in power is to that much an extent...This is like a battle of an elephant and an ant...
Zekki: There should have been a secret power that was used by you when you sealed my big brother...show me that power!
SFX: Shuu
Nube: What!? What is that!?

Tamamo: ...Right! That Zekki thinks that there was a special power to seal the Oni by Nueno-sensei...furthermore, he's quite afraid of that power...that's why he's fighting while moderating his power and showing his appearance without killing us at once...
Zekki: Right, if you say that you can't show that power by any means

Zekki: Fufu...right. Ultimately the rising of the power has those it occurs for when they're protecting someone.

Zekki: But this seems to have become amusing, how you called the way this is being done. Because this isn't the battle of an elephant and an ant, it's an elephant and a mouse.

Nube: Even if that was a tenth of true power with that, he's not going to send that out.
Nube: Besides, I just bounced it off. That won't win it. I can't send out an attack.

(TN: Another quick reminder: "Kimon" refers to the "Demon Gate" phenomenon we've seen a few times; as an aside, another reading for "kimon" is literally just the Japanese word for "gate")

Tamamo: My Human Transformation Jutsu will be completed with your skull...at this point, my power should become multiplied by tens...no, greater, but...

Oshou: This is an enchanted mirror of the Heian Period where if you chant a suspicious spell into it, you can transform into anything. (Tekumakumayakon...)
(TN: While I'm not really sure about Oshou's spell, his idea is based around the magical girl series "Himitsu no Akko-san", a series created by Fujio Akatsuka about a girl who receives a magic mirror that can transform her into anything she asks it to. It has had three animes, all of which by Toei, created in 1969, 1988 and 1998)
Oshou: This pipe is a pipe where if you blow it once, a child genie will fly to you; if you blow it twice, a glamorous, married genie will and, if you blow it three times, an expressionless giant genie that will just echo throught he body will fly to you. (Makuma Taishi)
(TN: I tried really, really hard to find some sort of hint regarding what manga/anime/cultural reference Oshou was referring to with this whistle...but failed utterly this time. I know it's something and when I figure it out, I'll adjust this note)

TN: Well at least we now know that Zekki deliberately decided not to kill them...but of course it all is about freeing his brother and getting some knowledge about how Nube (didn't really) stop the Oni the first time around. Of course Nube himself was just caught in a perfect set of circumstances when it happened, considering that somehow Minako-sensei was inside and the Oni ended up in a place where there would be a high enough spiritual problem that Nube would end up as the teacher there ultimately, thus leading to the tragic reunion and Nube making Baki into his new left hand. But then again, if it weren't for Zekki's curiosity regarding what happened to big brother, Nube, Tamamo and Yukime would be dead...and the series would be over because Zekki would have destroyed everything and killed everyone. I mean, he's an Oni, of course he doesn't care what happens to people seeing them as bugs/mice outside the music of their screams as they slowly go towards their deaths. Though with that said, this chapter really does show a lot more of the typical fun and humor of Nube even with...well the whole factor that it may all be futile and that unless they can defeat Zekki and send it back to hell (and hopefully not have him free Baki at the same time), they're all screwed. Of course Nube is courageous about wanting to figure out how to get the kid down, but Tamamo's reaction is peculiar but not really cowardly than more a survivalist: of course being a youkai himself and one with a massive amount of pride, he cares more about his own survival than trying to futily die against an opponent they may have no chance with. Sure some would say it goes against what the series is about and what Tamamo has learned all this time, but remember: Zekki is probably one of the most powerful beings we've seen in this series and Tamamo really still has the pride of a youko within him. (speaking of which, I really love the evolution of the relations between Tamamo and Yukime: it's surprising they hadn't met before now considering the two of them just go at each other so great so far in these three chapters) Another interesting but good thing that this chapter reminds of us is that there is still Nube's class to think about, with Hiroshi and Kyouko (and Miki somewhat) in the line of fire (leading to Nube protecting them) and trying to work with Nube. Unlike last chapter, this one sort of feels more like the heart of the series is that Nube has his class and is not just on his own...it will be of major help and come in handy but it's hard to say it will be during this arc. And as for the ending...well it sort of is obvious what they found if you know of what Nube encountered in the past...but hey, with even Oshou trying to help out (though more for Izuna's sake than his own), maybe even he has been shakened by this whole ordeal with Zekki...or just wants to unload more junk onto the cast.
