Zekki: What is called Hell comes from it's 8 layers. An Oni is strong to the extent of the deep layer but I've come from Tapana, the 6th.

(TN: As I mentioned in the last chapter, the concept of hell in Buddhism is tied to the concept of "Naraka", which is more a term for "a realm of great suffering". (I chose to keep the "hell" term due to the usage of "jigoku", but compensated by translating the Buddhist terms for the layers) In these Naraka, one isn't forced to suffer in eternal damnation, but are forced to stay there for an extremely long time (longer the deeper you're sent) until you are ready for the next reincarnation, thus being an incentive for one to try to achieve enlightenment to escape from the cycle of suffering. Usually the Naraka are 8-tiered and found beneath the Earth, both with cold and hot Naraka both achieving the same result. The 8 hells mentioned here are the "hot Naraka" listed as such (in descent order):
-Sanjiva: Naraka of "revival", where one is typically attacked by the attendants of Yama, the god of death, over and over with claws or firey weapons, restored to full health, then attacked again over and over for eternity. (The typical period here is 1.62 trillion years...and this is the easiest of the Naraka)
-Kalasutra: Naraka of "black therads": same as the previous level, only with the participant having black lines drawn on them where they're cut with saws. (12.96 trillion years)
-Samghata: Naraka of "crushing": participants are forced to be crushed by stones into jelly, then revived to have it occur over and over (103.68 trillion years)
-Raurava: Naraka of "screaming": trapped in a realm of burning ground, one hides in a shelter, where they are locked in and forced to scream in agony with the blaze around them (829.44 trillion years)
-Maharaurava: Naraka of "piercing": the hell where those hurt others when saving themselves, wild animals torment them and eat their flesh. (6.63552 quadrillion years)
-Tapana: The hell Zekki is from, this Naraka of "heating" is where servents of Yama impales people with firey spears until their mouths and noses erupt with flames (53.08416 quadrillion years)
-Pratapana: Naraka of "great heating", the same as Tapana but the impaling occurs via a trident. (424.67328 quadrilion years)
-Avici: The "Uninterrupted" Naraka, where one is roasted in an immense blazing oven for the period of an antarakappa (an "inside eon", which is 3,397,386,240,000,000,000, or "3.39738624 quintilion years))

(TN: Reminder: introduced in #125, "Gyokirin" translates into "Oni-Governing Ring")
Kyouko: It's an item that seals an Oni's power.
Miki: Ah.
Kyouko: Long ago, it was created by a spiritualist called En no Gyouji; he put it on the Oni Zenki and Kouki and manipulated them freely with this.

Kyouko: Previously, Nube put it on his own Oni no Te and was controlling the power of the Oni, but unfortunately the Gyokirin that was in Doumori Temple broke only controlling 50% of the Oni's power as a fake.
Miki: Then...will it be a fake this time too!?
Hiroshi: Perhaps.
Kyouko: How will he fight with it?
Nube: Even when I put the Gyokirin on my own Oni no Te, only 50% of the Oni's power came out...with that, we don't have a chance of winning...
Nube: But even so, if I can directly put it on his arm, he'll drastically power down and he should come to panic with the shock...

-An obi is a wrap used for tying up a kimono like Yukime's, with the sash and tie used to hold it.

TN: First of all, an apology: this script was completed yesterday, but I just have been really busy and really distracted by other things to get it up until now. However, the good news is after this, I have the final two chapters of the arc ready to be put up so good things do come for those who wait.

As for the chapter: I guess the question some of you are probably asking yourself is this: does it make sense that Zekki would fall for putting the Gyokirin on leading to his near defeat? Is it logical that a monster would be naive enough that would let him fall for the trap...particularly after Hiroshi blabbed out (accidentally) what it was and how it would harm him? Well, as I see it...it does make a bit of sense. As super-powerful as he is, Zekki is still a character that has some sense of naivete...or is someone who would be able to take the negative of someone's words and think it is actually a positive. Sure there are two excuses for that, but what I'm saying is this: Zekki falling for the Gyokirin trap is something that actually could happen due to his own arrogance or lack of knowledge for the situation at hand. Some could hear a person say how "bad" a thing is and thus think the opposite, leading to them putting it on as he did...and likewise, some would also be naive thinking that someone is bluffing or not knowing what they're saying and would be able to put an artifact on themselves. But regardless, the scene does show that Zekki at least mentally is a character who can fall for the easiest of tricks and, thus, almost allowed for Nube and Yukime to defeat him by putting the Gyokirin on. And by that account, the whole scene with him choosing to put it on and getting nearly screwed because of it makes sense, since it did at least allow for a little bit of hope before he fully unleashed the extent of his Oni power. Of course that's going to screw Nube over for next time...but let that happen when it does. Aside from that conflict, I did like a bit of the explanation regarding the whole set up of "hell" and how it is based so much on the "Naraka" concepts of Buddhism...and how Zekki knew that if he went back into that portal, that's it and he'd be screwed for the rest of eternity. This is the only chance he has of seeing his big brother...and he's not going to waste it, even if it means a few humans are going to die here or there.
